George Leland Williams George Leland Williams, son of the late Elias and Minnie (Beck) Williams was born on December 26, 1897, in Dallas County, Missouri, and departed this life on Friday, July 26, in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, where he had been a patient for two days. He was at the time of his passing 76 years and seven months of age. He was united in marriage to Miss Alice Pearl Reynolds on May 8, 1917, in Springfield and to this union was born a one daughter, who survives him. Mr. and Mrs. Williams resided their entire life in the Buffalo Community where they owned the Williams Grocery Store and later the Williams Hardware store. Mr. and Mrs. Retired in 1947, after being in business for over 40 years. Mr. Williams professed his faith in Christ when he was 14 Years old and united with the Baptist Church o f Buffalo where he remained a member until his passing. He was a great lover of nature and an avid sportsman. He loved to walk in the fields hunting or by streams of Dallas County fishing or just observing the beauty of nature. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. He leaves in his life his wife, Pearl, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Irene Gower Billings; one grandson, Bob Gower, Austin, Texas; three granddaughters: Mrs. Paula Eckles of Springfield, Miss Pamela Gower and Miss Patricia Gower. Also several other relatives and friends that will sadly miss him. Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m., Sunday, July 28, in the Jones-Cantlon Chapel with the Rev. Glen Pence officiating. Mr. Mary Lou Beckner sang "In Times Like These" and "In The Garden" accompanied by Mrs. Lynda Pence, organist. Escorts were; Murrell Indermuehle, Jimmie Beckner,Bill Nunn, Avera Harriman, Tip Stafford and Claude Fransham . Interment was in the Reynolds Cemetery under the direction of the Jones-Cantlon Funeral Home.
