Charles Henry Williams

Charles Henry Williams, son of Elizabeth Jane and Greenberry Mitchell Williams, was born on Dec. 26, 1880, and departed this life Oct. 20, 1943, at the age of 62 years old, 9 months and 24 days.
He leaves to mourn his passing wife, Mrs. Effie Williams, of Buffalo, two sons, Bert of Wichita, Kan., and Gus of Springfield, Mo.; three daughters, Mrs. Hildreth Burd of Long Lane, Mrs. Ruby Mashburn of Whittier, Calif., and Mrs. Imogebe Johnston of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Dowell, of La Habra, Calif.; two brothers, John of Everett, Wash., and Roy of Holyoke, Canada.  His father and mother, three sisters and one brother preceded him in death.  His death occurred at St. Margarete hospital in Kansas City, Kan.  He was stricken suddenly while on his way to work and lived just twelve hours without regaining consciousness.  All was done for him that skilled and loving hands could do but God saw fit to call him home.
He was converted at the age of sixteen and united with the Center Point Church .  At the time of his death he was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Buffalo.  His faith in God, and knowledge that he would come day sing in that heavenly choir.  Everyone knew of his service to his Lord in singing his praises.  He was affectionately called "Singing Charlie" by his family and friends.
There are no words to express his deep devotion and love for his family.  They were always in his thoughts and it was the joy of his life to always be doing something for them and always he would tell them to live in such a way that when this  life was over they could all be together some day in Heaven.
Funeral services were conducted at Buffalo First Baptist Church Sunday, Oct. 24, 2:30 p.m. by Rev. J. E. Jackson, assisted by Rev. R. I. Clemings.  Interment was in Oak Lawn cemetery under the direction of L. B. Jones.
