Mr. John Bracken Wilson, son of the late Hedge and Italy (Youngblood) Wilson, was born in Dallas Co Missouri on June 26, 1882 and departed this life on Wednesday, May 21, 1969 in the General Osteopathic Hospital in Springfield Missouri, where he had been a patient for several weeks.  He was at the time of his passing, 86 years, 10 months and 25 days of age.

He was united in marriage to Miss Manervia Blackwell on August 2, 1903 in Dallas County and to this union was born one son.  "Uncle John", as he was known by his many friends, lived almost his entire life in the Windville community.  He later moved to Long Lane for several years before moving to Buffalo.  He had lived n the Buffalo community for the past 12 years.

Although he never united with a church, Uncle John lived a truly Christian life.  Many times in the last few years he would say, "Why can't I go on?  I am truly ready."

He was preceded in death by his wife, Manervia; their son who died in infancy and one sister, Mrs. Cora Hawk.  He leaves in his passing six nephews, Tokey Wilson of Windyville, Ivory Hawk of Lebanon, Mack Wilson of Corning CA, Paul, Silas and Noah Blackwell of Marshall MO; three nieces, Gladys Williams of Buffalo, Mrs. Bessie Scott of Marshall MO and Mrs. Nellie Dame of Lebanon.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 1969, in the Windyville Community Building with the Rev. Paul Bliss officiating.  Interment was in Lone Rock cemetery under direction of the Jones-Cantlon Funeral Home of Buffalo.
