China: Feast of the Milky Way (Chih Nu)
Japan: Tanabata (Star Festival or Festival of the Seven Evenings) Throughout the
Asian world, at this time they celebrate the festival of the lovers who are
sacred to the kami of the stars. Originating in China, this festival is the
celebration of two celestial lovers who are reunited only once a year. All year
they are separated by the Milky Way until the meeting in the night sky of the
two stars, Vega and Altair, which represent them. Vega is Shokujo, a skillful
weaver; Altair is Kengyu, a herdsman and breeder of cattle. Sometimes the finest
noodles are offered to these stars to ward off disease. Bamboo shoots are often
planted on this day, and sometimes carvings of miniature cattle are placed under
bamboo to honor the cattle breeder. Some make ink with the morning dew and write
wishes or tributes on five colors of parchment which are hung in the tree, with
hopes that on this night these dreams may come true.
Greek: The seventh day of each month is sacred to the God Apollo.
Celtic: According to the tree calendar, this day is the start of Holly Month,
most favorable for balancing the polarity of male and female.

Moonstone Ritual
.
The moonstone is a semiprecious stone that can aid in any magic you wish to do
involving the Moon, water, or the astrological signs Cancer, Scorpio, and
Pisces. A cabochon-shaped piece of moonstone should be easy to find in rock
shops or in New Age stores, and the stone is relatively inexpensive. Once you
find it, bathe the stone in salt water. Go outside to face the night sky. Hold
it and visualize it becoming the Moon while you say:
Moon in my hand
Lovely to see,
You are mine to hold,
Mine to find
When no Moon I see.
When I wish the Moon's power
Indoors with me,
Moon in my hand
You will abide with me.
Take the stone inside and place it on your altar. Burn a silver candle and place
the stone before an image of a Moon god or goddess, such as Thoth or Diana.
Meditate on the stone, imbuing it with the powers of the Moon and the sea. Scry
with it. Write down what you observe. Repeat the washing of the stone and
presentation of it to the Moon each night until the Full Moon for maximum
moonstone power.

Crone's Corner - Dancing Naked in Summer Rain

Have you ever...
danced naked in the summer rain feeling the cool water on your skin and said
thank you for the freedom of this pleasure? Felt the joyous energy run through
your body and wished others could feel what you feel?...
Grabbed a blanket while sitting drying off, watching the fireflies dance on the
wind in the trees as the sun goes down, knowing Autumn's on it's way and loving
each season for its uniqueness and splendor and wish that others could feel what
you feel?...
Can you hear the sounds around you? The birds, maybe traffic, music or children
laughing in the distance and have you stopped and said thank you for my ears
that I can hear these sounds and know them well? Have you ever wished others
could hear what you hear?
The sun shines overhead and the clouds billow by, careless and beautiful. The
traffic light turns green and a flower grows by the highway. See a newborn baby
take its first breath and watch an older couple hug. Do you ever wish others
could see what you see?
We're so blessed even in this world that exists with pain and sorrow. We can
choose to make our lives better... pick ourselves up by the scruff and Say "ok
you had a bad day, week or year, now it the time for change"... and mean it!
If you need help, ask for it, but take time to choose who or whom you ask for
help from, carefully. Many times, I find when I ask others, I'm usually always
satisfied with what I hear or receive, but I end up right back to the place I
started... within myself and listening to my higher self and the guidance of
Spirit and my helpers. Sometimes we do need a little extra help and guidance,
especially when we're so close to a situation and we're being blinded by our own
energy.
When you need a pick me up, just remember ...
Dancing in the summer rain...
Watching the fireflies in the summer night breeze...
Hearing the sounds of laughing children and birds singing...
Seeing the beauty of the sky and the mountain tops...
And feeling blessed beyond measure when you take the time to love yourself and
share that love with others.

Today was the day Roman women celebrated one of the most important festivals of
Juno, the great Goddess of women's power. Although every Calends, or first, of
each moon-month was dedicated to Juno, the Nonae Caprotinae on July 7 was - with
the March 1 Matronalia - the goddess' public festival. On this day, girls staged
mock battles under wild fig trees and all women engaged in similarly
unrestrained behavior. For Juno, who was castigated as an overbearing jealous
wife in late mythology, was originally a complex goddess who ruled all of
women's energies. And women are not only nurturing and kindly; we are also
sometimes angry and fierce. Both of these aspects of feminine reality - and many
others as well - were in Juno's domain.
Finding ways to resolve conflicts, especially with other women, is one of life's
ongoing challenges. Roman belief was that each of us has a deep and abiding
strength that helps us move toward the right path. Looking within for this
strength will bring us in touch with the strength to the goddess within us.
