About Nemetona: In Romano-Celtic regions, Nemetona guards groves of trees with a
special protective presence that marks the area as a sacred site. Within this
space, the soul is hushed and calm, becoming one with nature and the goddess.
Nemetona's name means "shrine," giving new depth of meaning to William Cullen
Bryant's poetic phrase "the groves were God's first temples."
To Do Today: This ritual takes place around this time of year in Appleton,
England. It is an occasion for the community to gather together and decorate a
hawthorn tree in the center of town. Local people believe this was a spot of
ancient pagan worship, which is highly likely since hawthorns are sacred to both
witches and fairykind. In magic traditions, carrying hawthorn ensures happiness
and promotes good luck (not to mention bearing a bit of Nemetona with you).
Wherever the oak, ash, and thorn grow together is a very magical spot filled
with Nemetona's power, and one that will be visited regularly by fairies!
To commune with Nemetona, you need go no farther than the nearest tree. Give it
a hug! Sit beneath the tree and meditate on its strength, its connection to the
earth, and the roots that keep it sure. Accept this security as a gift from
Nemetona.

I normally use Doreen Virtue's Fairy Cards, but this week I was
told by Spirit that there is an important message I am to share
and there are no cards to use, just the message. I feel this must be
important since its been on my mind now for a few days and
demanding my attention and to be shared. Thank you.
The fairies and my good helpers are telling me today to share
with you the message of Courage. Now is a time when we all
need to have courage and truly stand up for what we believe in.
Just because it may not be what someone else believes doesn't
mean it isn't your truth and that it's wrong. What feels right
for you is your own truth and you have the right to believe in what-
ever you choose. In the coming days, we will need to have
Courage for many things... for ourselves, for what we believe in,
for love, for our children, for our ways of life and much more.
Courage, to me, is what we feel in our hearts and bring to the
surface and to stand tall and firm in what we know is right, but
in a loving, quiet, honorable way. Many of us will need to ask
our Creator for courage in the coming days as we all have so
many changes all around us. See change as not good nor bad,
but just change and the highest good for all. Even when you
think you just might want to give up... Have Courage... and
know all will be well and you are loved!!

Botanical name Leptospermum petersonii
A powerful insect repellent. Said to have antiseptic, antimicrobial, carminative
and sedative
properties. It is used in aromatic blends for the diffuser to combat coughs and
colds. The scent has been described as a strong, pleasant lemon odor with a
delightful fresh rosy tone.
As a natural insect repellent. A 20% solution was found to be effective against
Anopheles farauti (Australian malaria mosquito.) It gave immediate repellency
and remained effective for 4 hours for at least 50% of the insects. This is a
good result for an essential oil.

This is the season when the ancient Greeks celebrated the great Goddess of Love,
Aphrodite. In July, the festival was called the Adonia, in honor of her love for
Adonis, God of the ever-dying, ever-reviving plant life that flourishes upon the
rocky mantle of our earth. It is this plant life that sustains our human lives
not only by providing food, but by creating the oxygen we breathe. Humans and
plants live in a delicate symbiosis with each other, for when we breathe in the
oxygen-rich air they have created, we breathe out the carbon dioxide plants
needs to live. Thus we dance with the world, breathing out and breathing in to
each other, all of us living in the great loving embrace of nature.
