Aries' ruling planet Mars is in the last days of his visit home in this lively
sign of impulsive action. Our sense of urgency is highlighted by the Moon's
entrance into enthusiastic Aries at 9:23 am EDT, as she starts a new round

exactly what we need to antidote the continuing resistance we are getting from

Furrinalia - A festival honoring Furrinalia, an ancient Italic goddess. Some
scholars associate her with the Furies but this may just be a confusion because
of the similar sounding names. She was more likely the nymph of a spring.

Salacia - A Roman festival honoring the wife of Neptune. Olive boughs were made
into arbors to encourage an abundance of water during this dry time of the year.

Symbol: Water (especially moving water or saltwater)
About Tamayorihime: An ancient Japanese sea goddess, Tamayorihime rules not
only moving water sources but also all matters of health. She also watches over
birth waters to ensure a speedy, safe delivery for pregnant women.
To Do Today: This festival began in 949 C.E. as a way to get rid of summer
maladies. If you've had a cold, the flue, or some other ailment, try an
adaptation of Japanese custom. Take a piece of paper that you've left on your
altar for a while and rub it on the area of your body that's afflicted. Drop
the paper into moving water (like the toilet) to carry away sickness in
Tamayorihime's power. Alternatively, burn the paper to purge the problem.
Mingle the ashes with a few drops saltwater and carry them in a sealed container
as a Tamayorihime amulet for health.
For personal cleansing and healing, soak in an Epsom-salt bath today. As you
lie in the tub, stir the water clockwise with your hand to draw Tamayorihime's
health to you, or counterclockwise so she can banish a malady. If time doesn't
allow for this, add a very small pinch of salt to your beverages and stir them
similarly throughout the day, while mentally or verbally reciting this
invocation:
"Health be quick, health be kind,
within this cup the magic bind!"
Drink the beverage to internalize Tamayorihime's energy.

You've been searching for new ways to find peace of mind especially since life
has been quite hectic and crazy now for a while. The fairies have many ways to
feel peaceful and to enjoy life. You've found it difficult lately to do some of
the things you feel you need to do to acquire this peace, but the fairies say,
you don't have to do anything so elaborate to find it, you'd be surprised how
the little things will not only give you peace of mind, but joy in your heart
too. Going
out in nature and spending time doing things that feel comforting and relaxing
are so good for the mind and the soul. Make a conscious choice to take time out
each day to walk and enjoy your own company, the company of the fairies and just
talking to your higher self and to your Creator/Spirit/God. This can be very
refreshing and help us
to clear our thoughts, meditate, center and balance and feel refreshed and
renewed. The fairies feel it's very important to do this and suggest you
experiment with different things to find what works best for you.
Listening to music you love, a long soaking bath, a walk in nature, eating
healthy foods, avoiding negative situations, people and energy, saying no when
it's necessary and asking for help from your higher power, your helpers and the
fairies, are very good ways to find the peace your mind is longing for and
deserve. As a new month is dawning upon us, make it a point to find your peace
of mind.
Affirmation: My mind is now peaceful, and I know that all of my needs are
automatically taken care of. I can rest easily, assured that all is well.

Candle Consecration Spell
July 24th, 2005
Color of the day: Gold
Incense of the day: Coriander
To cleanse a candle prior to spell work, collect the following: some cedar oil,
a second candle, dried sage, salt, and water. The object is to consecrate the
candle with each of the four elements. As you expose the candle to each item,
say the words, "Power of earth, air, water, and fire-this candle is made pure
for my desire." That is, roll the candle in salt, pass it through the smoke of
burning sage, rinse it with water, and pass it quickly through the flame of
another burning candle. Afterward, anoint the candle with the oil using the
method of your choice. Don't charge the candle for its purpose at this time, but
imagine clearing it of any prior associations. Later, you can charge the candle
for a specific spell by visualizing your need and carving an appropriate symbol
into its side.

At this time of year, late in July, the butterflies are hovering almost
constantly over the coneflowers, and hummingbirds are flashing about the monarda
and salvias. In late afternoon, the thunder spirit rumbles, promising needed
rain. The richness of July makes this a potent time to work prosperity magic. As
the Sun sets, smudge your altar with sage. Deck the altar with red and purple
flowers. Two candles should be placed on the altar: one green, the other purple.
Light the candles, and speak this charm:

Purple of the vine,
Money and wealth are mine.

All humans long for ecstasy, for experiences that lift us beyond the mundane and
into a direct connection with the divine. In ages past, religions made room for
the ecstatic, whether through drumming, shamanic journeying, vision questing, or
