The Moon is still in feisty Aries, and we need to express ourselves first and
ask questions later. We tend to begin projects without thinking through our
plans, so we may not have a way to complete what we start. The Moon trines the
Sun and stabilizing Saturn, however, giving us more utilitarian tools than we
usually have with the Moon in Aries. And we need all the help we can get, for
our impulsive actions aren't going to get us through the changes ahead. We need
to work with the restrictive energies and voluntarily hold back our emotional

About Anne: Saint Anne is a freshwater Goddess who helps us learn the value of
abounding selflessness, and how to better tend to our household matters when the
chaos of summer seems to have our attention elsewhere. In Canada she is also
credited with miraculous healing powers.
To Do Today: Traditionally, supplicants come to Saint Anne wearing outfits from
their cultures, kneeling, and speaking their requests. This is a little awkward
in our workaday world. So, instead, quaff a full glass of springwater first
thing in the morning so Saint Anne will stay with you all day, protecting you
from the sniffles and encouraging a little domesticity.
If your house is cluttered, you can invoke Saint Anne and welcome her energy
into your home simply by straightening up and using a little magical elbow
grease as you go! Visualize white light filling your home, sing magical songs,
burn some incense, and use plain water to wash the floors so Saint Anne's power
can be absorbed into every nook and cranny. If you know of a person who's been
laid up and unable to do such things for themselves, I also suggest offering a
helping hand. This will draw Saint Anne's well-being to that individual and
fill his or her living space with healthful energy. The act of kindness will
also draw Saint Anne's blessings to you.

Heartwings Love Notes 168: Instant Karma
Heartwings says, "When we pay attention we can easily see that what goes around
really does come around."
Recently I had two experiences demonstrating that what goes around really does
come around. The first happened in the supermarket. I was in a hurry, and
although I could have allowed a customer to get in front of me I did not take
the time to do so. While I waited behind two other customers, immediately she
was beckoned over to a newly opened register. I was furthered delayed by a cart
left directly behind my car, which I had to push to the card return before I
could start home.
Several days later I went to buy a new book by one of my favorite authors. Not
seeing it on the bookstore shelf I inquired and was told by a rather grumpy
clerk that yes it could be ordered and no, I couldn't use the discount coupon
because that only applied to that day. His manner seemed discourteous and
unsympathetic. I thought of reporting him but instead decided to be forgiving.
Arriving at the checkout counter with another title, I again considered
reporting the clerk's behavior and again decided not to. Instead I mentioned my
disappointment at not being able to buy the book I had wanted. The cashier
offered to order it for me. Without my asking she gave me the discount as well.
Then she offered me free shipping. I was very grateful. I was also glad I had
not reported the clerk who had been rude to me earlier.
While I am fond of the adage that "What goes around comes around," I seldom have
had two examples come so close together. Moreover, because the results of my
actions followed so quickly upon the heels of the acts themselves, the reality
of this universal truth was presented to me in an extremely vivid manner. I
shared these experiences with my daughter and as we chuckled over them, I
couldn't help but think what a wonderful Heartwings Love notes they would make.

Incense of the day: Peony
Sometimes having a multitude of options is even more frustrating than having
limited options. Use this spell to help you attune to your own inner voice of
wisdom in making a difficult decision. Light a white candle, and burn eyebright
on a charcoal block. State these or similar words: "I call to the night and the
shadows to guide me in my decision." Write out your possible choices and the
pros and cons of each choice. Pay attention to any sensory perceptions you may
encounter. Allow yourself to meditate, listening to the voice of inner wisdom.
The wisdom may not come immediately, but be alert for the next few days. Allow
extra relaxation and meditation time, as the voice is more apt to speak when the
mind is open and at rest.

Crone's Corner - July Success Spell

Originally there were ten months in the Roman calendar, which is why the last
month is named December, derived from the Latin word for "ten." Eventually, two
more months were added, and during the reign of Julius Caesar further reforms
were made to make the calendar more accurate. Julius also changed the name of
the month Quintilis to July after himself. During his month games were held in
his honor, called Ludi Victoriae Caesaris, or "Games of Victoria and Caesar."
Victoria is the name of the goddess of victory, who was associated with Caesar.
The games were held July 20 to 30. This is a good time to call on the goddess
Victoria to assure success. It is also a time to participate in sports and any
outdoor activities that should draw you. It is through the development of the
virtue strength, or fortitude, that Victoria's assistance is obtained in our
regular daily life.

Nature is not dumb and wordless. Our forebears spoke of nature as alive, of
trees as communicating one with the next, of the spirits of valleys and of
oceans speaking to each other and to their human cousins.
Science is now finding language that affirms some of these insights into our
planetary connections. Trees attacked by pests emit chemical signals to other
trees, warning them of the danger; the receiving trees then have time to produce
chemicals noxious to the invader. Thus the song of the Siberian Yokut people is
not only poetic, but deeply true, for the forest trees communicate with each
other in ways that we are only now beginning to rediscover. Perhaps we will also
find that stones and clouds, which we believe inanimate but which earlier
peoples saw as alive, communicate as the song suggests.
