Star IQ - Monday, August 8
The Moon is in critical Virgo most of the day, and enters more gracious Libra at
10:07 pm EDT. Meanwhile, the Sun in relentless Leo now opposes visionary
Neptune, allowing us to dream outside of our individual lives as we reach into
the spiritual dimensions. The subtle tensions replay the confusion of the past
few days. There is also increased activity in our fantasy life. We don't have to
look for ways to escape. They seem to find us. We are ready to journey to places
that look better than what we have created around us.

Ancient Romans celebrate the Eve of the FESTIVAL OF VENUS. The goddess of love &
beauty is honored & invoked with prayers, love songs, libations, & passionate
night-time lovemaking.
Scotland: BURRYMAN FESTIVAL. A man in tight-knit suit & mask is covered from

Circle of Friends
Don't let loneliness hurt your health; reconnect with a family member or old
friend this weekend. Studies show
that loneliness can have deleterious effects on your health. Surrounding
yourself with friends and family,
on the other hand, can give your heart and health a boost. Make it a point to
see three or more of your closest
friends and family members at least once each month.

A FLY ON THE WALL
My mother used to say,
"I wish I were a fly on the wall,
to have seen that!"
and she would laugh and laugh.
One of her expressions.
She was from near Savannah,
would say "gull" instead of "girl"
and "squll" instead of "squirrel."
A very feisty woman, mostly irish.
Short, witty, a wonderful pianist.
Oh, how I miss her!
She would have laughed at all
the silly things that Cody,
Frank & I get up to...
she would have loved to be a fly
on the wall in this loving house.

Goddess For Today: Parvarti
Teej (Nepal)
Themes: Fertility; Femininity; Cleansing; Devotion
Symbols: Lotus; Elephant; Dance
About Parvarti: The celebrated Hindu Goddess of women is the center of
festivities in Nepal today. Parvarti's domain is that of faithful companionship
and fertility, as she is the consort of Shiva. Art often shows Parvarti
dancing, in the company of Shiva, or with an elephant's head.
To Do Today: Try following Nepalese custom. Wash your hands and feet with
henna (or a henna-based soap product) for Parvarti's productive energy. Or, go
out and swing on a swing set singing sacred songs; this draws Parvarti to you.
Another way to invoke Parvarti is by giving a special woman in your life (a
friend, lover, relative, etc.) a gift in thankfulness for her companionship.
The goddess exists within that friendship and will bless the relationship. Take
a ritual bath to cleanse yourself of negativity and problems of the last year.
Water offerings are also a suitable gift to this Goddess. Pour out a little on
the ground and then drink some to internalize any of her qualities that you
need.
Wearing fine clothing and flowers is also customary, because all things of
beauty please Parvarti. So get out your finery for your celebrations, and put
on a boutonniere! Or wear something with a flower pattern to draw Parvarti
close to your side.

~Fairies help us to believe and have faith~
by Mystiblu
~Dreams Coming True~
Yes you have dreams and guess what?! They're now taking
form and manifesting in your life. Hold on to your faith and know
that what you've dreamed of is on its way! Yes really! Keep that
picture in your mind and heart and know that it is not out of
reach.
You've thought about it for so long, you thought perhaps it would
never come about, but the fairies today say it is! The New Moon
energy has created many new changes in your life and mainly
because you've believed and kept the dream alive!! The fairies want you
to keep up the great work and keep believing! To make everything
successful, keep seeing what you desire, believing it and don't
let those fears creep in and try to steal it away from you. You
deserve abundance and joy in your life and to all those around you too.
Affirmation: My heart is filled with gratitude and excitement,
knowing that wonderful people and situations surrond me now.
Peace and blessings,

Heartwings Love Notes 170 A Time For Rest
Heartwings says, "Those who do not rest on purpose may have to rest by
accident."
I've been leaving the window shades half drawn in an effort to keep the house
cooler, and it seems to be working. When we lived in Virginia we had central air
conditioning, which I never liked much but tolerated because of the extreme
heat. Now as the Dog Days of Summer bear down, I try to stay cool by doing less
and resting more.
I have learned that I cannot treat my body as though it were made of iron. Once
I stressed it so much that I developed a pinched nerve in my neck. Even more
than delivering my children, this was the most pain I ever experienced in my
life. It taught me an important lesson. Treating the body well is vital to good
health. I have learned to respect my limits and to take it easier when it is
appropriate to do so.
The hot weather of late July and early August is a signal to me: It is time to
rest more. While the dark days of Winter promote extra time to sleep, the hot
days of Summer bring opportunities for relaxation. I feel as though I want to
laze about, spend more time reading and visiting with friends, and less time
cooking and doing other chores. I lose my enthusiasm as well as my appetite for
complicated meals and heavy foods. It's time for salads and toasted cheese
sandwiches.
When I take time off appropriately, I find that I am less apt to find myself
having to rest because I have hurt myself or caused myself difficulty. When I
treat my body kindly, as though it were a beloved animal companion rather than a
machine, I am happier. As I sit by the lake with my notebook and my novel, I
watch the sun's ray's dance on the surface and I feel inspired as well as
content.
May you rest well during these lazy hot days of Summer.
Blessings and Best Regards, Tasha Halpert

Chinese Peach Wine for Health
Incense of the day: Cinnamon
Used both as an appetizer and a nightcap, Chinese peach wine also serves as a
blood cleanser and relieves constipation. No more than two small shot glasses
should be drunk per evening. It is also an excellent offering to Pagan gods and
goddesses. To make your own, take five unripe peaches, one pint of rice or white
wine, and one-and-a-half ounces of refined sugar. Quarter the peaches, and put
all the ingredients into a large sterilized jar. Seal the jar and store it in a
cool, dry, and dark area for nine months. Afterward, strain and pour the wine
into a dry sterilized bottle. The bottle may be stored in the refrigerator. For
extra zing during festivals, add a dash of the wine to ice cream, trifles, and
other deserts. In place of peaches, Chinese red dates or persimmons may be used.

Daily Aromatherapy Tip
Niaouli oil relieves the itch of insect bites and helps reduce swelling. Some
say the bites heal faster, while the oil's
skin softeners counteract scars. Just mix 2 drops of niaouli in 2 tablespoons of
witch hazel and apply to the affected area.

Evil may find me some day, hell's demons
and earth's savage beasts surround me.
Illness may find me, and other sadnesses.
Age and death may find their way to me.
But Kuan-Yin can find me too. I am never
hidden from her goodness, from her compassionate
glance, her infinite blessing, her perfection.
She sees everything and answers every prayer.
I bow my head to her, in perfect reverence.
~Buddhist Prayer To The Goddess of Mercy
Today in Japan, children are celebrating the Buddhist feast of Hana Matsuri by
bringing offerings
of fresh flowers and Hydrangea tea to the temples. Even before Buddhism arrived
in Japan,
this was the time of the spring hill-climbing festival, when the new wildflowers
were gathered
and brought back to bedeck the house and the family altar, where portraits of
the ancestors
were kept. In this way, the deep connection between life and death is
emphasized, for those
ancestors have become part of the great fertility of the earth, from which new
flowers grow.
There is a certain sadness to every springtime, for there are loved ones who
cannot delight in it.
Friends, lovers, family members pass into the great mystery of death, yet spring
comes as though
they had never disappeared. For those new in the grief of love's passing,
springtime can be unbearably
painful; each flower is one that the dimmed eyes can never see, each fragrance
lilting across the air
is one in which the lost one can never rejoice. But later springs bring comfort
as well as renewed pain,
for within each new year's growth is a deep reminder of the way in which nature
brings all beautiful
things back into the fragile glory of life. Kuan-Yin, the Goddess of mercy, is
most active in Spring,
for that is a season when her people feel their losses the most poignantly.
