Current Moon Phase - Waxing Moon Magick:
The waxing moon is for constructive magick, such as love, wealth, success,
courage, friendship, luck or healthy, protection, divination. Any working that
needs extra power, such as help finding a new job or healings for serious
conditions, can be done now. Also, love, knowledge, legal undertakings, money
and dreams.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Star IQ - Thursday, August 11
The Moon enters passionate Scorpio, a fixed water sign, at 8:33 am EDT. This is
a powerful, yet oftentimes challenging place for the Moon, as our feelings
intensify -- making emotional expression difficult. Our natural response is to
lock up our feelings inside and to obsessively mull them over until the darkness
is transformed into light. Then, after the fact, we share our process. But when
we are close to others, they can see behind the curtain and into our
subconscious, and therefore can engage with our not-quite hidden stuff.

And when fair Cynthia her full orb displays,
Or when unveiled to sight are half her rays,
Then mark the various hues that paint her face,
And thus the fickle weather's changes trace.

...
When you sow to have double flowers,
let it be in the full of the moon;
and as often as you transplant them,
let it be in the full of the moon.

Let not my Heart-soul be driven away from me;
and grant me a sight of the Disk of the Sun
and the beholding of the Moon for ever and ever.

Seasons of the Witch - Ancient Holidays
And some not so ancient too!
The Lights of Isis - Festival of the Egyptian Goddess Isis.
St Clare - A follower of Francis of Assisi, she began an order of nuns, the Poor
Claires. She is a patroness of sore eyes.
Hoever, Rev Hugo, Lives of the Saints, Catholic Book Publishing Company 1955
Hercules the Invincible - The ancient Romans made a sacrifice on this day to
Hercules Invictus (the Invincible). Women were excluded from the rituals, and
various myths explained this, including the story that the followers of Bona Dea
had refused Hercules a drink of water when he was thirsty because the goddess
permitted no men in her presence. At any rate, he was a man's god, a manly man,
a god who became human and thus understood human appetites. Merchants gave
tithes of their profits and generals of their booty to finance a public feast.
All animals sacrificed to him were completely consumed during the feast and
there were no restrictions on what foods or drink could be offered. Blackburn,

Circle of Friends
Don't let loneliness hurt your health; reconnect with a family member or old
friend this weekend. Studies show
that loneliness can have deleterious effects on your health. Surrounding
yourself with friends and family,
on the other hand, can give your heart and health a boost. Make it a point to
see three or more of your closest
friends and family members at least once each month.

Today's Goddess:. Selu
Fiesta de Santa Clara (Southeastern United States)
Themes: Harvest; Weather; Growth
Symbol: Corn
About Selu: This Southeastern Native American Corn Goddess planted her very
heart so people wouldn't go hungry.
Corn sprouted from it. To this very day, her spirit teaches us how to
refertilize the earth to bring us the sustenance we need.
To Do Today: In this primary festival among the Pueblo Indians, Santa Clara
replaced Selu, the spirit of the corn, when Christianity took hold. For the
Pueblo, corn is a staple, so as the sun reigns in power they dance for rain and
evoke the Corn Spirit for every portion of the crop's growth. Following this
tradition, if it's raining today, go outside and rejoice in Selu's
growth-related energy. Dance with a bit of corn (or eat some beforehand) to
invoke her powers for progress in any area of your life.
If your region has needed rain lately, try drumming for it while scattering corn
kernels mingled with pine needles on the ground.
The corn and needles act as a gift to the goddess, and the sound they make is a
kind of sympathetic magic to draw the rain.
Finally, carry corn in your pocket today. Beforehand, visualize a specific
characteristic you'd like to "harvest" within yourself. Each time you think of
the corn that day, visualize that goal again. Then, at the end of the day,
plant the kernel in the ground so Selu can start it growing!

Abundant Balance Spell
Incense of the day: Sandalwood
I used to dislike the phrase "It takes money to make money." Like many people, I
thought that this phrase spoke to the idea that only the rich get richer. Then
it dawned on me that this phrase mirrors the concept of a balanced universal
flow of abundance. Even the bills that you pay and the groceries that you buy
start a chain of events that ensure money will flow back to you. With your
wallet or your checkbook in front of you, draw the rune Feoh (f) for prosperity
that is earned and shared with the forefinger of your projective hand. Visualize
the infinite flow of the universe that provides for you and guides you. State
these or similar words:
Universal abundance infinitely flows.
I live in your balance, my abundance grows.
Be open to any messages or opportunities that reflect and influence your balance
of abundance.

Crone's Corner - Beauty of a Woman
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears,
The figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman must be seen from her eyes,
Because that is the doorway to her heart,
The place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman Is not in a facial mole,
But true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.
It is the caring that she lovingly gives,
The passion that she shows.
The beauty of a woman
With passing years -- only grows.

I am you.
You are me.
Wherever you go,
there I am.
I am strewn everywhere.
Everywhere you collect me.
And as you do,
you recollect yourself.
~Gnostic Gospel of Eve
The first woman, Eve, is shown in the Bible as a temptress who not only sins
herself, but lures her mate into sin as well. She seems a weak creature at best,
possibly even evil, this first mother of our race. Yet there are other
traditions, other myths, told about Eve that have come down to us. In one of
these, she travels to the underworld upon her husband Adam's death, and it is
she who wins the boon of eventual rebirth from God.
Woman and men are both limited by the cultural messages they receive: men, that
they must be perpetually be in charge and powerful; women, that they must be
endlessly available and nurturing. Yet we bear within us all the possibilities
of our gender and our race; men are as capable of nurturance as women are of
wielding power. As we redeem the ancient figure of Eve from her one-sided
biblical portrayal, we also redeem ourselves from her limitations.
