How to Create A Wedding Witch's Bottle

by Olivia O'Meir

Start by choosing a specific goal for the bottle. This will make the charm more powerful. A specific goal allows a witch to focus his or her energy more effectively.

Pick the bottle. You can choose any color, shape, or size. Mason jars are ideal because they have large mouths and can be tightly sealed.

Decide the herbs and items you want to add to symbolize your goal. Take into account not only symbolism, but also your available resources, money, and time. You may need to make substitutions. For example, I used wedding ring favors from a dollar-store. If you need help, check out the list of ingredients and substitutions at the end of the article.

Choose a particular time to create the bottle. Friday is an ideal day because it is sacred to Venus and Aphrodite, two love goddesses. The waxing Moon is a great time to add ingredients to the bottle. A Moon in Taurus and Libra will also be a blessed time.

Add the ingredients to the bottle. There are two ways to do this. You can place the ingredients in the bottle directly. Or you can put the ingredients into a fabric square first. The square will be tied up and dropped into the bottle.

Put the ingredients in one at a time. Every time you add an ingredient, state it's purpose aloud. For example, say " Some dragon's blood for passion" as you add the dragon's blood. Stating the purpose helps you to focus and magically charge the ingredients with your will and intent.

Seal the bottle securely. After closing the lid, you can use wax to permanently seal it. Red and pink are good colors, but white can be used too. To conceal the wax, cover the top with fabric and tie ribbon around the neck.

Decorate the outside of the bottle. Fabric, lace, or felt can be used. Tie decorative wedding favors to the ribbons around the neck. How fancy you decorate the bottle is up to you. You can decorate the entire bottle if you choose.

Finish the bottle by typing up a small description of what a Witches' bottle is. The bottle's ingredients can be included as well. You can use fancy papers, fonts, and inks. The paper can be placed in a card or rolled into a scroll to accompany the bottle.

Ingredient Suggestions:

For love and romance: Vanilla, jasmine, rose petals, rose quartz, heart figures, red wine.

For fertility and sensuality: Dragon's Blood, patchouli, allspice, cinnamon, apple, garnet, cat figures.

For union: Rings, interlocking rings, bride and groom figures, Adam and Eve root, lavender, braided ribbon, lodestones.
