Celestial Weather 18 September 2006 - 24 September 2006 The Week beginning September 18th, 2006 Week as a Whole: The Solstices and Equinoxes are considered snapshots of the quarter year that they begin. Astrologers create horoscopes for various global locations to assess their meaning as focused in say Paris or Tel Aviv or Washington, D.C. Of course, during the ensuing three months the planets move and form new relationships, but these quarterly snapshots describe long-term background conditions. Eclipses, which typically come in pairs of Solar and Lunar, come every six months at locations that slowly move backward through the zodiac. Since the Earth, Sun, and Moon fall into "straight-line" alignment at eclipses, the life energies are flowing at maximal levels. The bright spotlight of the Full Moon Lunar eclipse can be blinding and its pressure to fulfill or fail excruciating for those directly touched. People are often distracted, self-absorbed, and contemplate major life change during the New Moon Solar eclipse. Such an eclipse comes this week on Thursday, followed, less than fifteen hours later, by the Fall Equinox. The Earth, Sun, and Moon align in this Friday's Solar Eclipse ( http://www.celestialweather.com/images/091806a.pdf) on the very last degree of Virgo. That in itself suggests an intense effort to bring matters to completion. The symbolism associated with this last degree of Virgo is that of a man "totally intent upon completing an immediate task is deaf to any allurement." And that task is "the conquest of illusion." And we have plenty of illusion to conquer. Jupiter is moving to perfect his historic square with Neptune on Sunday. This has been in effect off and on for months; this is their last square. Both Jupiter and Neptune are operating from signs (Scorpio and Aquarius respectively) that express their energies unconsciously. Both planets inform our religious and spiritual life. People find themselves with conflicts of commitments and goals. Consider the struggle U.S. Republicans have, committed to Bush, yet needing to distance themselves from an unpopular war and policies. There's background confusion in our ethical sense of being comfortable in our cultures. Our ideals and our actions are seen to be inconsistent. A task has been set before us for this fall season. We've been struggling with Jupiter - Neptune and Saturn - Neptune illusions and confusions for many months. The Fall Equinox occurring later on the same day spreads Jupiter - Neptune and the eclipse's intensity over the coming months. We can use the obsessive focus of the Eclipse and its "conquest of illusion" to bring clarity and conclusions into our lives. And when Jupiter leaves Scorpio and enters his home sign, Sagittarius, in late November some fire and light will return to us. For the U.S. the Equinox, as you can see from the chart, ( http://www.celestialweather.com/images/091806b.pdf) focuses at the bottom, on home issues, issues of security. This is a place where the Moon is strong and here the Moon is aligned with Mars. It suggests a new feeling about ourselves as citizens, a new vision beginning to form as seen by Mercury connecting with Neptune. The coming Venus - Pluto square has the potential for cleansing out that which we've finally outgrown. Our leadership may surprise us with sudden changes of position. The issue of secrets and spying remains with Saturn affecting communications and still opposing Neptune in our secret spaces. While not aggressive with a Libra Moon and Mars, we will react strongly and decisively to any threat or perceived misinformation. Earlier this week, on Tuesday, Venus forms a two sign practical and potentially financial cooperative link to Jupiter and faces a choice of futures from a 5 sign link to Neptune. The Jupiter - Neptune square impinges upon our personal lives. We have choices to make that will have lasting impact on our life's direction. Nonetheless there are also helpful working arrangements possible stemming from the Venus in Virgo linked to Jupiter in Scorpio. Next week Venus moves on to square Pluto and the hard choices will be made. By the time this Venus - Pluto square is made, we will have worked our way out of this week's confusion. Daily Forecasts: Monday 18 September 2006 The Leo Moon moves into the historic T-square pattern by making a right angle with Jupiter, then opposing Neptune, and finally aligning with Saturn. Major fixed energy rules the day. So expect to go slow and steady. Some of us may move through molasses. Tuesday 19 September 2006 We may awaken with a solution to yesterday's slowdown. With Venus getting help from Jupiter, we can find resources to support our plans with full knowledge that a change of direction is being made. Problem is the Moon is Void from 5:16am/8:16am until she enters Virgo at 5:07pm/8:07pm. So gather information all day, but don't commit until after the Moon "unvoids," in fact wait until the last possible minute as important information may appear late. Wednesday 20 September 2006 Those choices should be deferred until Friday, after the New Moon. Today expect to get new information and have second thoughts since the only action is the Moon opposing Uranus in the late afternoon. Thursday 21 September 2006 Feelings and conditions may shift or reveal themselves further when the Moon connects Jupiter, Venus, and Pluto in an echo of Tuesday's activity. Friday 22 September 2006 The Solar Eclipse occurs at 29 Virgo 20 at 4:45am/7:45am and the Moon goes briefly Void. She enters Libra at 6:06am/9:06am. This is the time for last minute adjustments and communications. And this is a time to get to a quiet place and look inside. The Equinox occurs at 9:04pm/12:04am and a new cycle begins. Saturday 23 September 2006 We can see through the haze today with Mercury connecting well with Neptune. Re-evaluate your feelings now. Sunday 24 September 2006 Jupiter squares Neptune today at 1:33pm/4:33pm. The Moon is Void from 7:11am/10:11am until 6:54pm/9:54pm. Despite the confusion in the "big world", we have surprising clarity about what makes us happy in our personal world. And we're ready to do something about what makes us unhappy with Venus moving into square with Pluto. Tomorrow is the day to commit to your choices. Long Range Forecast: September 22nd - A Solar Eclipse on the Fall Equinox extends the eclipse's intensity over the autumn season. Politics and religion driven by unthinking emotion return with Jupiter square to Neptune again and Saturn still opposite Neptune. This forms the tense T-square pattern that indicates power struggles and extreme political hard ball. Sun, Moon, and Mars all in Libra may demonstrate that combat and competition are also forms of relationships. November 8 - In the middle of Mercury retrograde (10/29 through 11/18) Mercury aligns exactly with the Sun in an "eclipse of Mercury". The last time this happened was May 2003. Remember "Mission Accomplished?" I'm concerned about major Mercury aspects occurring near Election Day in the U.S. The 2000 election occurred on the day Mercury changed direction. The anticipated widespread use of electronic voting machines and validity of their results may be an issue. (Thanks to reader John Dawson for alerting me to this event.) | |

Celestial Weather 23 October 2006 - 29 October 2006
The Week beginning October 23rd, 2006
Week as a Whole:
This week begins with a shift from Libra's finding a balance and stepping back to making a committed choice as the Sun, Moon, Venus, and Mars all move from Libra into Scorpio by Tuesday. The air of Libra, which really symbolizes the perspective of distance necessary to form relationships, has been replaced by the emotional laser focus of Scorpio. There is no "distance" in a Scorpio connection, there is union and co-mingling, there is intimacy and sex. And there is vulnerability. The movement from Libra to Scorpio is a natural human progression that we all understand. First we meet people and situations; then we move closer, weigh the pros and cons, and finally, if everything feels right, we open ourselves. During the Libra phase, if asked, we would reply we're considering a particular choice or person. After the transition to Scorpio, we're "in bed" with that choice. This week begins with this shift as the U.S. populace is making up their minds about the coming elections.
The energy also has a new source or trigger planet. With many planets in Libra, Venus rules and calls the shots. So we react to stimuli more than we instigate. We can see many sides to an action or position. We can put ourselves in the other guy's shoes. But in Scorpio, Mars and Pluto rule. It's no more Mr. NiceGuy. We want and need people to be on our side; the other side is wrong or bad or somehow deficient. Scorpios are not known to appreciate shades of gray. We're not soliciting information anymore, we're choosing and we've moved into wanting our "side" to win. This is a big shift when 4 planets exit a sign and enter another sign in two days. Expect people to have new attitudes, attitudes that are quite different than those they may have held on Friday.
It's also politics, politics, politics all week. On Wednesday, Jupiter makes the exact square to Saturn that's been coming into focus for the past couple weeks. Jupiter and Saturn are the left and right of the zodiac, liberals and conservatives. Jupiter wants a big boat with everyone included, and Saturn wants to pare away the dead weight. Jupiter in Scorpio is now in conflict with leaders whose choices are very limited by Saturn in Leo. Resource limitations and the need to cooperate (again get in bed with) with others are stressing leaders everywhere who want most to execute their vision. This is conflict between unilateralism and multilateralism. Politics is said to be the art of compromise. Even the most rigid must bend to survive.
Many astrologers are working hard to complete daily tasks and appointments before next weekend. On Saturday, Mercury stands still, from Earth's POV, and begins his 3 weeks of retrograde motion. All manner of communication and writing, like contracts and computers, are more likely to become confused and need re-working during Mercury's retrograde periods. Major purchases, big vacations, real estate transactions should be postponed unless the parties wish to have them redone at a later date. Everything important should be communicated twice through different channels if possible. These are the normal concerns during Mercury Retro.
Especially around the days when Mercury's motion changes, we can expect some confusion, lost keys or passwords, misunderstandings, and general but usually mild informational chaos. But this weekend on Sunday Neptune, planet of dreams and glamours, also stands still. Neptune opens doorways to our unconscious and brings the underlying magic of the world closer to the surface. This is wonderful for music and theater, for all the arts. We're easily connected to each other, and some of us may find it difficult to distinguish between their own feelings and those flowing around them. It pays, during Neptune time, to choose your environment carefully, because once immersed our natural defenses are down. It also pays to linger in bed and float on the edge between sleep and dreams; you may find wisdom and meaning there. But in combination with a tricky Mercury communication and fact system, this surge of unconscious content can be overwhelming for some and even dangerous for others. People will not be clear headed and focused. Their bodies may be on the freeways driving cars, but their minds may be off the planet. This is a time to go with the flow and go slow.
This mind in the blender period continues on Monday when Mercury backs into his second alignment with Jupiter in just over a week. We won't fully get our feet back on the ground until a week from Saturday (7 November) when the Taurus Moon settles things down.
Daily Forecasts:
Monday 23 October 2006
No halfway measures today in Scorpioland. Don't guess and don't try to put up a smokescreen. Be careful to commit only to what you truly will carry out. Remember that many of us will be passionate about whatever we're doing.
Tuesday 24 October 2006
The Moon is Void until 11:53am/2:53pm when she enters Sagittarius and the "High Noon" mood lightens somewhat. But Venus has just entered Scorpio and aligns with Mars this evening. A healthy physical channel for all this intense intimacy is a good idea that will come with pleasurable rewards.
Wednesday 25 October 2006
We'll probably be getting used to the new level of emotionality by now. Jupiter and Saturn are at right angles and politicians are deciding which side will profit them the most to support. Statements they made just a few weeks ago will now be "inoperative." There won't be a rodent in sight near a perceived loser. They'll all have jumped ship.
Thursday 26 October 2006
The Moon goes Void at 11:02am/2:02pm and doesn't enter Capricorn until 8:47pm/11:47pm. Capricorn will sustain the political focus since its Saturn's home sign. You can be sure deals are being made with elected and appointed officials in survival mode.
Friday 27 October 2006
This is the last earth sign Moon before Mercury flip flops. Some would say it's too close now and the Mercury fog is already in effect. But there's several helpful contacts made by this Moon and resources are out there if we ask for them. Approaching elders with respect will meet with success.
Saturday 28 October 2006
The doors of the asylum are open today. Since you've already backed up your computer, having read the warnings above, you can relax and move carefully and slowly through your world. Try to call that old friend you've meant to call. You might get some Mercury magic and they'll pick up the phone. The Moon goes Void at 6:30pm/9:30pm. Don't worry, be happy.
Sunday 29 October 2006
The Moon has entered Aquarius overnight and we've followed a rabbit down his hole. Some places make you larger and some places make you small...go ask Alice. Neptune presents us with alternate realities and new meanings and connections. There's magic in the air.
Long Range Forecast:
November 8 - In the middle of Mercury retrograde (10/29 through 11/18) Mercury aligns exactly with the Sun in an "eclipse of Mercury". The last time this happened was May 2003. Remember "Mission Accomplished?" I'm concerned about major Mercury aspects occurring near Election Day in the U.S. The 2000 election occurred on the day Mercury changed direction. The anticipated widespread use of electronic voting machines and validity of their results may be an issue. (Thanks to reader John Dawson for alerting me to this event.)
November 23rd - Jupiter leaves Scorpio to spend a year in his home sign of Sagittarius. Less spying and secret courts, more transparency. A new cycle of foreign affairs, jurisprudence, and religious thinking begins. More Sagittarian energy comes December 9th when 6 planets are all in Sagittarius.
Long-Long Range Forecast:
April 14, 2009 - October 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn. The end of business-as-usual politics. The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times. The transition to organic regional government will not be smooth...the result may be some corporate feudal mixture.
June 24, 2012 - April 17, 2015 - Uranus in Aries forms his first major hard aspect to Pluto, a square angle, since they were aligned in the second half of the 1960's. Hippie dreams may come true when the ecology and/or petroleum-based economies fail. Plan to live where there is food and water and you don't need a car. Plan to live where you'll know your neighbors...maybe even love them. What a thought! We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city. |

Celestial Weather 30 October 2006 - 5 November 2006 The Week beginning October 30th, 2006 Week as a Whole: Mercury began his retrograde period this past weekend inclining us to look back into the past and review old plans and ideas. This backward orientation can often cause confusion when we try to "think forward" and find ourselves having to re-do matters of communication and thought. Our thoughts take color from Mercury's sign at all times and when he is in Scorpio, our thinking tends to be emotional and lacking in gradation. We hold to our thoughts passionately and can be suspicious of those who don't share our views. Our words are often sharp and can carry the scorpion's sting. With a U.S. election coming next week, this week's political discourse will be colored by this Scorpionic venom. Mercury retrograde will dredge up damaging items to serve as ammunition in personal attacks and a major scale. This may be the worst mudslinging exhibition in the sorry degraded state of U.S. politics. There is "water, water everywhere" this week. From Tuesday through Thursday seven of the ten planets are in Water signs. This includes five in Scorpio: Mercury, Venus, the Sun, Mars, and Jupiter. The Moon will join Uranus in Pisces getting energy from Neptune who is still vibrating intensely at his turning point. We don't think with water, we feel. In fact, thinking and feeling are mutually exclusive activities. We think in our heads and feel in our bodies. We all get in trouble when we confuse them and try to think about how we feel or trot out our emotions as thought. The Uranian pre-election "surprises" will come in profusion. This will be really ugly. This is a battle of words without ideas. People will be hurt and carry these wounds into the future. There will be no rational debate. As individuals, we need to remember that we are in extraordinarily emotional times and that we instinctively know just what to say to sting someone who opposes us. The week begins on "Crunchy Monday" when Mercury aligns with Jupiter in Scorpio for the second time in a week. Mercury then moves on to reform the square to Saturn on Wednesday. Mercury has been vibrating in the Jupiter - Saturn square for the past week. We are inundated with the informational struggle for power and support underway as symbolized by Jupiter square to Saturn. Our communication systems will be flooded with targeted messages aimed at our "hot buttons" and phrased to inflame. "Cut and run." "Stay the course." "The attack on marriage." "Soft on terrorists." These phrases, and others like them, convey no information but carry emotional content designed to divide people into groups who share the same fears. And fear is the underlying fuel and the easiest emotion to stimulate especially in a Cancerian country like the U.S. But there is hope here as well this week. Venus precedes the Sun into a harmony with Uranus: Venus on Wednesday to followed by the Sun on Friday. Uranus is the "outsider" in us all. And this connection suggests that many of us will be able to "step outside" and wake up from the spin and group think to realize our own unique feelings. Perhaps disgust and anger at the sorry mess money, media, and corruption has made of our political system. There is hope some leaders will rise above the mud and speak out for unity and sanity. There is more hope for conversion moments for those in leadership positions suggested by a similar harmonic connection between Saturn and Pluto. Any politician, from top to bottom, who steps up and admits to error and makes a sincere vow to work for change would be applauded and approved. The time for a change in leadership is at hand. Any time this week through next Sunday's Full Moon ( http://www.celestialweather.com/images/103006.pdf) will support such a shift in reality. The Full Moon chart, however, does not favor rational choice but rather a Pauline conversion coming from within. After this week's Full Moon, we will be in a new world with new rules and new players. Power will have changed hands. The revolution will be televised AND it will be live. The outcome may take some time to become clear as those in power may use desperate measures to cling to their positions. But this long nightmare of fear is coming to a close. The lights are coming up and the roaches are scurrying. This is the beginning of the end. Daily Forecasts: Monday 30 October 2006 Neptune rules this morning. Today begins in a dream and ends with some hard facts as the Moon goes Void tonight at 9:31pm/12:31am after connecting Saturn, Mercury, Jupiter and Pluto in the early evening hours. We oscillate from deeply involved to sudden detachment. Tuesday 31 October 2006 Welcome to Waterworld. The Moon has entered Pisces becoming the seventh water planet. Be wary of polluted waters and follow your feelings out if you sense poison around you. Remember and revisit places of joy and purity as medicine. We're all more transparent to each other while the Moon swims with the fishes. Wednesday 1 November 2006 Hard facts (Mercury square Saturn) mix with new attitudes (Venus trine Uranus) on another busy day. Mercury's retro confusion makes careful communication a necessity. Expect to hear about statements suddenly become "inoperative." Thursday 2 November 2006 The Moon went Void last night and enters Aries at 7:46am/10:46am and we're noticeably less fuzzy. There's very few connections made but the madness rolls on. Beneath the surface, people are changing and then realizing they've changed. Friday 3 November 2006 With the Sun flowing with Uranus it's easier to be an "individual" and step out of the herd. Check to make sure you're feeling your own feelings and not somebody's programmed soundtrack. Saturday 4 November 2006 Again the Moon went Void overnight and she enters earthy Taurus at 8:05am/11:05am. Earth Angel has arrived. Expect to feel literally more grounded. Issues and ideas can be seen more practically in terms of resources and time. There's less of that feeling of being blown here and there in the wind. Sunday 5 November 2006 The Full Moon sheds her bright light on our commitments. It's time to put your money on the table. We see things now in terms of personal cost and personal loss. Like Dorothy we're seeing the man (or people) behind the curtain. Long Range Forecast: November 8 - In the middle of Mercury retrograde (10/29 through 11/18) Mercury aligns exactly with the Sun in an "eclipse of Mercury". (Thanks to reader John Dawson for alerting me to this event.) November 23rd - Jupiter leaves Scorpio to spend a year in his home sign of Sagittarius. Less spying and secret courts, more transparency and more light. A new cycle of foreign affairs, jurisprudence, and religious thinking begins. Long-Long Range Forecast: April 14, 2009 - October 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn. |

Celestial Weather 6 November 2006 - 12 November 2006
The Week beginning November 6th, 2006
Week as a Whole:
Two weeks ago at the New Moon late in Libra, all the personal, day-to-day planets gathered together in a tight group: that was the Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars. This group then entered Scorpio together and was moving toward Jupiter on yesterday's Full Moon. Since they all move at roughly similar rates of speed, they will continue as a group to make tight bunches of contacts on their journey through Scorpio to emerge into Sagittarius late this month. This week, Venus, Mercury (retrograde), and then the Sun each make a square angle to Neptune. This brings the magic and illusion of Neptune into our lives. Sometimes we experience Neptune as simple confusion, sometimes as lies and deception, and sometimes as an awareness of a deeper reality. Sometimes it's all the above. With this preponderance of Neptune coming surrounding the U.S. elections, we can expect the results to be less than crystal clear. Some races may be disputed until November 22nd or 23rd when the Sun and then Jupiter enter Sagittarius.
The impact of these Neptune connections will vary depending on how they relate to our personal horoscopes. Certainly people whose birthdays come early this week will be affected. Neptune can raise us to the heights of mystic illumination, he can fill us with the universal love spirit that connects us all one to another. He can show us perfection or an ideal that can lead us onward on our journey. He can dissolve the usual boundaries that separate us into hermetically sealed emotional units. These effects can come at any time and not always when we're ready. So it's important if you feel a little strange or reactive to chose your environment carefully and protect yourself from negative or violent influences.
This exaltation/confusion comes when Mercury is retrograde and focused introspectively and when he is exactly aligned with the Sun. Those of us who can spend this time in meditation or contemplation of some beauty are indeed fortunate. But those of us in the marketplace may find that we need to concentrate especially hard to remain grounded. These are conditions when it easy to hear what you want to hear, to believe one's own PR and ignore the possible problems in our plans. Neptune smoothes over the rough spots...sometimes too smoothly for our own good.
It's concerning that the U.S. elections take place in the middle of this Mercury retrograde/Neptune surge. Clear are decisive results may be delayed, if not impossible in some cases.
On Wednesday, after Mercury squares Neptune, Mars connects with Uranus. These two combine in energy that wants to storm the castle walls or blow down the gates. Its sparks turn into flames of outrage at perceived injustice. This energy may be charging the emotions of voters at the U.S. polls. Any results that seem an echo of the 2000 debacle will evoke extreme reactions. Post election comments and reactions will be conditioned by the emotional intensity of Scorpio and the enflamed imagination of the Sun in square to Neptune.
Tempers will continue to flare into the weekend with Mercury backing into alignment with Mars on Saturday. This is verbal shoot from the hip energy, and in Scorpio we're all armed with extra high-powered ammunition designed to penetrate and poison. We see deeply into each other now; we see each other's secret desires and needs. It's a difficult time for liars and a terrible time for equivocators. Remember there are no neutral spaces in Scorpioland.
We're in the midst of a profound political sea change. When Venus makes the first of a series of Saturn squares next Sunday, it will signal the first lifting of the Neptune fog. All the other planets in this historic group will follow Venus over the next three weeks and the outcome will become clearer with each Saturn square made. At the same time, we will begin to realize the impact of this sea-change on our personal lives. We're at a corner in time. These turning points don't occur frequently, but when they do it's sometimes possible to feel and understand the energies that magically guide us into our collective and personal futures.
Daily Forecasts:
Monday 6 November 2006
The Moon is Void until 8:46am/11:46am when she enters Mercury's home sign Gemini. Expect a blizzard of communications during the Moon's passage through Gemini when Mercury is retrograde and square to Neptune. Bring along your mental shovel but keep alert for the little mystical gems that will be mixed in carrying special messages to each of us.
Tuesday 7 November 2006
If you're voting in the U.S. elections today, double and triple check your choices before making them final. It's been reported that some computer voting machines function incorrectly, even creating negative totals of votes. So be wary and precise.
Wednesday 8 November 2006
The Moon was Void overnight and enters Cancer at 11:46am/2:46pm on a day with the potential for sudden mood swings and outbursts. Be very polite on the highway. With six of ten planets, including the Sun and Moon in water signs, cool detachment will be very difficult. If you look to your local Aquarian for this, you may be dismayed to discover that he or she is leading the mob with Uranus in Pisces and linked with Mars.
Thursday 9 November 2006
Musicians and dreamers should be flying high on this week's energy and perhaps today is the peak time for them. The Moon makes a momentum building water triangle with Uranus, Mars, and then later with Mercury and the Sun. Good feelings soar and bad feelings are the pits. No pastels.
Friday 10 November 2006
Water flow continues until 12:59pm/3:59pm when the Moon goes Void. She enters Leo and we can start to dry out a bit at 6:34pm/9:34pm.
Saturday 11 November 2006
Leos tends to take things personally, as if they were important enough to be the target of everything. We are each the center of our universe and today it helps to remember there are 6 billion centers walking around on the Earth.
Sunday 12 November 2006
Venus squares Saturn today and some of us have to accept some hard news and loss. Letting go is a normal growth process and can be a liberation. Saturn teaches us to "grow up" and put away childish notions.
Less spying and secret courts, more transparency and more light. A new cycle of foreign affairs, jurisprudence, and religious thinking begins.
Long-Long Range Forecast:
April 14, 2009 - October 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn. The end of business-as-usual politics. The nationalistic dinosaurs will enter their twilight times. Celestial Weather 20 November 2006 - 26 November 2006 The Week beginning November 20th, 2006 Week as a Whole: This is a week of endings and beginnings that starts with a New Moon late in Scorpio, followed by the Sun aligning with Jupiter on Tuesday and entering Sagittarius on Wednesday. Jupiter follows the Sun into Sagittarius on Thursday. Note that every New Moon ends a cycle and begins a new one. The Sun is ending his month in Scorpio and beginning a month in the Archer's sign. Jupiter is ending a year in Scorpio and beginning a year in his home sign. So above all, this is a week of transitions - endings and beginnings. The change from Scorpio into Sagittarius is prototypically emerging from darkness into light. The "dark night of the soul" is a Scorpio experience in which we come face-to-face with our deep desires and darker aspects. It is where we lose our delusions of perfection and invulnerability. But after this immersion comes release and light. All the fire signs in astrology are born in water signs. New life springs from the loss of boundaries and dissolving of ego. All the water signs come with a loss of control and independent action since we find ourselves bound to others in the water of family, partner, or humanity. Jupiter symbolizes our ability to envision our future, to take the long overview of life, to make public decisions and judgments that follow social standards, and to set policy for the future. Our political life has been clouded for some time with no way out of many current predicaments visible. This is ending. Another sign of returning health to the body politic is Saturn slowing up to make his annual retrograde move when he's in a harmonious contact with Pluto. It's worth noting that this connection is never completely made this fall. Saturn and Pluto combine to mature us and step beyond outgrown behaviors and attitudes. If you're feeling this pressure to change, remember the motto of the Borg, "Resistance is futile." Saturn and Pluto are inexorable in bringing us change and renewal at the deepest levels. But what may appear as solutions and transformations in the next weeks may be delayed until late next summer when Saturn and Pluto finally make perfect this angular contact. The New Moon Monday afternoon (PST) ( http://www.celestialweather.com/images/112006.pdf) comes on the 29th degree of Scorpio. Sometimes the degree symbols are spookily on target. The symbol for this degree is a squaw pleading to the chief for the lives of her children. This is the feminine principle seeking an end to the death of young men. This is the question that's in all our minds, especially here in the U.S. As the cycle that begins deep within on this New Moon expands out over the next two weeks, the squaw's pleas will grow louder and louder. Death in war is madness enough, death in pointless war is beyond. We can expect serious thought about change. The public mood will grow very impatient with more sons and daughters in boxes. Expect the change to come over the Thanksgiving holiday as the Sun and Jupiter complete their shift into Sagittarius to join Venus. Notice in the New Moon chart the tight group of planets just below 3 o'clock. That's the same group that's been traveling together for a month, moving through Scorpio and now into Sagittarius. As they make this motion they all make a square to Saturn in Leo and test and get tested in the struggle between the Leo ego and the need to cooperate and admit the more dire consequences of our actions. These square angles also represent a struggle to break free of the past and establish a new basis for forward motion. Finally, this location in the chart for the U.S., is an area in the horoscope that deals with adjusting to the outside world in a healthy way. It's about curbing one's ego to fit in and be ready to form relationships. It's a Virgo-type location and has a symbolic association with the military, the "service." The weekend, under an Aquarian Moon, has Venus in square to Uranus and so the week ends on a Uranian note just as it began the day after Uranus stood still. The week is framed by energy that encourages new thought and perspectives. We can expect the unexpected this week, some good and some not so good. Uranus may continue to unsettle the weather as he often does; he will definitely unsettle those whose horoscopes he currently contacts. Aquarians are busy, busy, busy being a little freaky and making space for the rest of us to expand into. We're coming to the end of the tunnel. Daily Forecasts: Monday 20 November 2006 The New Moon comes close to Jupiter this afternoon at 2:18pm/5:18pm. The urge to act is strong but the expansive motion may be in or minds. The Moon goes Void at 3:54pm/6:54pm and enters Sagittarius at 5:15pm/8:15pm. The mood lightens. Tuesday 21 November 2006 The restlessness you feel is the Moon activating Venus and Uranus moving into their square and the Sun aligning with Jupiter. Avoid confining people and situations if you can. Be in motion in all ways, take time to step back and think long thoughts. Not a day for precise detail work. Wednesday 22 November 2006 Mercury connects with Uranus and the Sun moves into Sagittarius today continuing the theme of mental simulation and new ideas. The Moon goes Void at 5:19pm/8:19pm energizing the Saturn - Pluto evolutionary contact discussed above. Another wave in the political sea-change is breaking today. Thursday 23 November 2006 Overnight the Moon has entered Capricorn and we have some grounded earth energy for a change. But the enthusiasm of Jupiter continues as he enters Sagittarius this evening. Even though it's a holiday for the U.S., serious matters and decisions are being made today. Friday 24 November 2006 The Capricorn Moon continues today when there's no major activity for the first time this week. Time for a rest after the Moon goes Void at 5:43pm/8:43pm. Saturday 25 November 2006 The Moon ends her Void period this morning when she enters Aquarius at 7:41am/10:41am. Everyone's a bit twitchy with Venus square Uranus and the Moon channeling that energy into us. Expect some odd reactions of your own and from others. With the right attitude this could be a zany and fun day. Sunday 26 November 2006 More of the same but some media event may bring many of us together when the Moon aligns with Neptune this afternoon at 2:11pm/5:11pm. Long Range Forecast: November 23rd - Jupiter leaves Scorpio to spend a year in his home sign of Sagittarius. Less spying and secret courts, more transparency and more light. A new cycle of foreign affairs, jurisprudence, and religious thinking begins. December 8th to 10th and December 18th to 20th - Six planets are in Sagittarius. Time for the big picture, time to look ahead, time to see clearly. And maybe time to overlook some important details. Long-Long Range Forecast: April 14, 2009 - November 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn. We may have to choose between eating grain on a commune or growing very thin in the city |

Celestial Weather 27 November 2006 - 3 December 2006
The Week beginning November 27th, 2006
Week as a Whole:
Tuesday holds two sets of square angles, Mercury square Neptune and Mars square Saturn, and they may combine to frustrate many of us. Since Mercury represents among other things our information systems, stress with the imaginative energy of Neptune often yields confusion, illusion, and delusion. The three "usions". We are more likely to hear what we want to hear, or slightly embellish the facts, or spin the story, or simply be confused by contradictory accounts. A Scorpio Mercury inclines toward suspicion and Aquarian Neptune paints an ideal future outcome. These two don't harmonize easily. It may be hard to find the middle path between blanket cynicism and dismissing negative issues out of hand.
Mars makes a square angle to Saturn roughly once each year. These are times when our aggression must be focused and under control. Unconscious outbursts often meet with painful consequences. For an athlete disciplining himself on the road to a gold medal, this energy is highly useful. For the surgeon learning a new technique, also useful. But for most of us who simply want to put new projects in motion, the increased resistance and required precision may be felt like an uphill struggle to get things done. Thinking of this pressure as muscle building and tuning up is perhaps the best attitude. Coming with the Mercury - Neptune square, this may underline the fact that there are no easy solutions to many of our problems like Iraq, Darfur, global ecology, and so on. The enthusiasm over the change of power in the U.S. is giving way to the reality of governing and making hard choices.
Three days, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with long Void Moon periods can add to the low-level difficulties we may encounter this week. These periods are best for continuing ongoing efforts, or for stepping back and reflecting, or for simply resting the mind and body. These are not times to make decisions and new opportunities that come during these periods rarely work out.
Another square angle is formed this Saturday by the Sun when he connects with Uranus. This occurs twice each year and often manifests in battles of will and power struggles. There will be pressure to lash out at commitments that may suddenly seem unfairly restrictive even if they were explicit all along. There may be a Gulliver and Lilliputian feeling since the conflict is coming from a Sagittarius Sun to a Pisces Uranus. There may be a conflict between the "rules" and what one knows intuitively to be right in a situation. And happily, there may be sudden inexplicable bursts of compassion and sympathy. The Sun and Uranus form a natural pair linked to the opposing signs of Leo and Aquarius. The Sun is warm and personal where Uranus is cool and detached. When they are square we're challenged to keep our egos small as points yet warmly in contact without attachment. When they are square we can learn how far we are from that hard-to-attain ideal.
Later next weekend, the Saturn based slow motion will return with the approach of his retrograde change just after the Full Moon next Monday. Saturn will also connect with Mercury and Venus next week. Politics both national and global will continue to churn as tides are shifting.
Daily Forecasts:
Monday 27 November 2006
The Moon is Void from 5:00am/8:00am until she enters Pisces at 12:21pm/3:21pm. The First Quarter Moon comes this evening as well, so we're all trying to find a place where we feel like we belong. Follow your feelings over the next two days, but double check your facts and figures.
Tuesday 28 November 2006
More Neptune glamour and shimmering today with Mercury square to Neptune and later Mars square to Saturn. These two may combine to feel depressing, like nothing will ever work out. Remember that this is just a feeling and it will pass. Take slow steady steps and build your muscles.
Wednesday 29 November 2006
Void Moon again from 8:29am/11:29am until 3:30pm/6:30pm when she enters Aries. The weight will lift and what seemed unattainable on Monday will seem quite possible, even easy, this afternoon as the Moon takes fire from Jupiter in Sagittarius.
Thursday 30 November 2006
New ideas and enthusiasm are in the air but remember we have no earth planets to naturally ground us and only Neptune as an objectifying air influence. There is an overabundance of fire energy. Fire gives heat and light but must be fed new fuel and so moves on quickly.
Friday 1 December 2006
The Moon goes Void at 10:40am/1:40pm and finally brings us much needed earth energy at 5:26pm/8:26pm when she enters Taurus. Expect to feel like the brakes have been applied. Some of us may be exhausted by the excess fire and need to calm way down with this earth energy. Simply lying on the ground can be good medicine now. Working the earth in your gardens large and small is also therapeutic.
Saturday 2 December 2006
That twitchy feeling comes from the Sun square to Uranus. Avoid petty conflicts of will and look for attitudes that you may have accepted about yourself that you've outgrown. This energy can help us shrug off pigeon-holing either coming from others or coming from within ourselves.
Sunday 3 December 2006
The Taurus "shopping" Moon continues until 4:31pm/7:31pm when she Voids again. She enters Gemini at 7:05pm/10:05pm and the heavy approach of more Saturn action will be felt.
Long Range Forecast:
December 5th - Saturn stations and begins 4 months of retrograde motion. He ALMOST makes an exact contact with Pluto that would indicate a major release of pent up change energy, and these changes will seem imminent. But they will be delayed until next summer when Saturn has resumed normal motion and again moves into this same angle with Pluto, only this time he will make the connection.
Long-Long Range Forecast:
April 14, 2009 - November 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn.

Celestial Weather
4 December 2006 - 10 December 2006
The Week beginning December 4th, 2006
Week as a Whole:
Astrologers group the signs of the zodiac into three modes: cardinal, fixed, and mutable. The cardinal signs are originators, beginners, sources of new action and ideas. Fixed signs, like the name implies, focus energy and purpose, maintain action, and have momentum. The mutable signs, also as their name implies, are shifting and symbolize phases of human life in which we react to our surroundings and adjust to conditions. The Full Moon that begins this week occurs in the mutable signs of Sagittarius (the Sun) and Gemini (the Moon). This normally is a time when we make adjustments to our communications and understandings. It is about ideas and vision, words and policy. But this Full Moon is formed in square to Uranus, also in a mutable sign (Pisces). Uranus brings sudden and erratic change energy into this Full Moon. On a trivial level this can be felt as a "twitchy" feeling. On a more profound level, we can be awakened to a new reality in our world.
Uranus is often called a "wild" planet since he represents change that is essentially uncontrollable. Change like severe weather, earth changes, radical political action, and interestingly technology. This association with technology suggests that innovation and invention can unleash forces with unforeseen consequences, like Frankenstein or the Sorcerer's Apprentice. Uranus has been a significant influence since late last week when the Sun moved to make the square angle and his influence continues into this week's Full Moon. These are unsettling and even startling times. But rest assured that they will pass by week's end. The results of these upheavals may take longer to integrate and understand.
Continuing on the theme of "mutable" signs, by the end of this week, there will be 6 planets in Sagittarius: Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Pluto. When the Moon enters Virgo next Sunday, there will briefly be 8 of 10 planets in mutable signs. Uranus in Pisces and the Moon in Virgo make 8. This is a serious imbalance and over-reaction is the simplest manifestation. Fortunately, or maybe not so foretunately, Saturn in fixed sign Leo is turning retrograde on Tuesday and this will counterbalance the mutability to some extent. U.S. President Bush is perhaps the most visible example of this fixed Leo energy. In him we can see the virtues of courage, loyalty, and determination as well as the pitfall of stubborn fixation. In times prone to such oscillatory excess, we can use some of his steadfast energy to keep our heads in balance.
This Saturn retrograde takes place almost...almost...in exact contact with Pluto. Saturn combines with Pluto to form a powerful synergy enabling us to grow up and evolve, to shed outgrown attitudes and behaviors, to revise plans and goals. This in combination with the extreme forward focus of all the Sagittarian planets has the world eager to move into the future, impatient with waiting, and inclined to overlook the details necessary for real change. The quick and easy fix is very tempting, and not just in Iraq. We all need to strive to ground ourselves...no earth planets remember...and slow down and look down at what's right in front of us.
Another imbalance formed by the cluster in Sagittarius is apparent by another astrological grouping of the signs: earth, air, fire, and water. The 6 Sagittarius planets late this week are all in fire signs. Saturn in Leo adds another fire planet making seven of 10 in fire; Neptune is our sole air planet and Neptune in Pisces our water planet. When the Moon passes through Leo on Friday and Saturday there will be 8 fire planets. Fire brings heat and light, and fire also consumes and moves. Control of fire and the related energy generating wisdoms are a truly human characteristic. Out of control this energy has great destructive power both in nature and in war. Fire must be fed or it fades and goes out. We have a chance this week to feel what it's like to be a strong fire-sign person who can be bored easily, who's restless, who lights up a room and warms our hearts, who's here and then who's gone.
The Sagittarian seeks to rise up to expand his/her vision to broader and broader horizons. The symbol expresses this progression in its animal, human, and the abstract bow and arrow components. The Centaur ranges far and wide bearing his human aspect into new experience. He can illuminate dark corners with his arrows of light. He can also skewer people in tender spots. With Jupiter newly liberated from his yearlong passage of Scorpio, the future now seems bright with possibilities and solutions. We should remember that Saturn won't make the complete connection with Pluto until next August when real forward motion will occur.
But this is not to say that nothing will change until then. This Thursday Venus aligns with Pluto indicating a time to refresh our relationships by agreeing on a shared future. This is time to re-visit assumptions about our joint plans and confirm or revise or abandon those we may no longer find compelling. This happens every year and is the beginning point of relational growth whose cycle is anchored on the major Venus - Pluto contacts. It is also time to let go of people with whom there is no longer any real interaction. Our world is speeding up and none of us has time or energy for empty gestures.
Finally on Friday Mercury enters Sagittarius making the 6 of 10 planets in Sagittarius and the 8 of 10 in fire signs. Mercury tends to leap and occasionally sting in Sagittarius. He (that is our minds) can neglect to gather the facts necessary to prove his theory...especially if those facts may disprove an attractive idea. Gemini and Virgo people may find these "Saggy" times frustrating although it's exactly their point of view that's needed.
Daily Forecasts:
Monday 4 December 2006
Full Moon madness in some places. The Moon is Full at 4:25pm/7:25pm and everyone's buzzing or changing or both. Deep breaths will help. The out of control feeling will pass.
Tuesday 5 December 2006
Politics is Saturn's playing field. Expect it to be "game on" today as Saturn stands still in our sky this evening. A tide of events has peaked and will now slowly recede until Saturn resumes direct motion in about 4 months. The Moon goes Void at 3:11pm/6:11pm and enters Cancer at 10:00pm/1:00am. Mars adds to the crowd in Sagittarius this evening. Now they are 5.
Wednesday 6 December 2006
Venus links with Saturn late tonight after the Moon has gone Void at 5:13pm/8:13pm. This is part of the interpersonal growth energy that continues into tomorrow when she aligns with Pluto. Nothing we do or commit to with each other now is trivial. Be precise and conscious.
Thursday 7 December 2006
The Moon is Void all day but Venus connects with Pluto and Mercury enters Sagittarius making 6 planets now horsing around. Resist the urge to act or choose under the Void Moon. The claustrophobic feeling will lift tomorrow.
Friday 8 December 2006
The Moon has entered Leo overnight and makes quick contact with Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter by midday. Expect a major mood shift into fiery mode. Try not to go everywhere at once and get nowhere. Use consciousness to stay focused and avoid the jitterbugs skittering about.
Saturday 9 December 2006
Mercury aligns with Mars today, and when this happens in Sagittarius the tendency is to shoot from the verbal hip. Sarcasm is the ugly cousin of sharp wit. Some words cannot be taken back, so be kind.
Sunday 10 December 2006
The Moon is Void for an hour from 12:35pm/3:35pm until 1:31pm/4:31pm when she enters Virgo. Not only do we finally get earth energy from the Virgo Moon but finally a planet is entering an earth sign: Venus crosses into Capricorn this evening and we will enjoy consistent grounding for the immediate future.
April 14, 2009 - December 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn.

Celestial Weather 11 December 2006 - 17 December 2006
The Week beginning December 11th, 2006
Week as a Whole:
We finally enjoy consistent earth energy with Venus now in Capricorn and the week begins under a Virgo Moon for an additional earthy bonus. Make those major financial commitments and decisions now if possible; chances are you'll find value and avoid oversights. That small voice in our heads that asks us to consider the costs and time required for our choices is back. It's been many months since our feet were solidly on the ground and we're less likely to be swept away by time's currents and eddies. Our senses are more alive to taste and smell just in time for holiday feasting.
Mars and Jupiter align on Monday in early Sagittarius making those itchy Sag feet even itchier today. Mentally we may suffer from too many ideas and concepts, but that's not really a hardship. This Mars - Jupiter combination encourages expanding every point of view and pushing our ideas enthusiastically. The Virgo Moon can help channel this into areas where there may be a genuine result, and it will pay to listen to those voices bringing up important details. Mars - Jupiter would rather plunge ahead than carefully weigh the next step, but it's a well-known fact that a disciplined racehorse can outrun a wild one.
Midweek is relatively quiet, after this extraordinary Fall, I welcome relatively quiet periods as time when I can have more control rather than keeping the alligators from rising above my waist.
Mercury makes a square angle with Uranus on Friday. This is a twice-a-year mental electric shock treatment. Sudden outbursts of blunt speech are possible, little boys pointing at naked emperors. If you've been stuck trying to solve a puzzle, the solution make flash upon you late this week. It's not a time to be stuck in routine tasks, and not a time to micro-manage people you work with. This comes and goes quickly on Friday.
The weekend sees the Sun connect with Saturn as he approaches Pluto. This blending of the Sun's light with the power of Saturn - Pluto is a true opportunity for growth and change. This is a time when we can own a new self-image and disown old habits that tie us down. The Sun sheds his light on Saturn in Leo's message about ego-boundaries and the precise application of our will. Those of us with "boundary issues" can really benefit during the days between Saturday and next Wednesday's New Mon when this is reaches an end.
Every year when the Sun aligns with Pluto we get a hint of our mortality...sometimes more than a hint. After the initial shock, we can make "death our advisor" as Don Juan advised Carlos Castenada. Knowing that each moment is precious and one of a finite series does wonders to focus the mind and brushes aside trivialities. It brings to mind the Zen story of the man chased over a cliff by a tiger. He grabbed a strawberry vine to save himself from falling. And with the tiger growling down at him and the vine slipping through his fingers, he saw one ripe strawberry before him and ate it. Nothing had ever tasted so sweet.
There is a summing up of lessons learned this fall as we spiral in toward the New Moon aligned with Pluto next week. All of us have come a long way toward realizing, whether we like it or not, that the world has changed and we're all together on this cosmic bus ride.
Daily Forecasts:
Monday 11 December 2006
The Virgo Moon can help us from running off in all directions at once with Mars and Jupiter aligned. (Also visible at sunrise below Mercury for those early risers.). The Moon passes opposite Uranus around midday (PST) adding to the nervous edge.
Tuesday 12 December 2006
Pay attention to details today. Important consequences are clear at the Last Quarter Moon and certain details cannot be ignored or brushed aside today. The Moon goes Void at 6:32pm/9:32pm aligned with Pluto.
Wednesday 13 December 2006
The Moon has entered Libra overnight and proceeds to make a series of helpful contacts to the Sagittarian group throughout the day. People are friendly and open to cooperation. Take someone to lunch and enjoy.
Thursday 14 December 2006
Beneath the easy Libran flow, we have depth from Venus in Capricorn. Yesterday and today are suited for making socially useful connections...graceful politics, if that's not an oxymoron these days.
Friday 15 December 2006
The Moon goes Void at 7:33am/10:33am and remains Void until she enters Scorpio at 2:42pm/5:42pm. The Mercury - Uranus square can be a little gawky, so keep your inner nerd under wraps until the Moon unvoids. Tomorrow it will be easier to find an audience for your ideas.
Saturday 16 December 2006
Ego-lessons often sting but so does removing a splinter. Keep focused on non-attachment : non-attachment to other people's opinions, non-attachment to your mistakes and history, non-attachment to outcomes. Focus on the process and finding joy in the moment. It will never come again.
Sunday 17 December 2006
Take note of your heavy dreams overnight. Look for a lesson there. The Moon goes Void at 3:31pm/6:31pm square to Saturn. Serious doesn't have to be sad. Don't get weighed down by the feeling that everything matters, even though it does. Ego is best when acting as a point without extension..."you're invisible, you got no secrets to conceal..." |

Celestial Weather 18 December 2006 - 24 December 2006 The Week beginning December 18th, 2006 Week as a Whole: With a New Moon on Wednesday followed closely by the Winter Solstice on Thursday, and both influenced by Mars in square to Uranus, this is a week of endings and beginnings. The Mars - Uranus square suggests a transition more radical than graceful from past into the future. It further suggests that the next three months will set us on a new and uncharted course. We're finishing energy conditioned by the Sun moving from Saturn to Pluto that enables us to shed old patterns and attitudes. The Mars - Uranus will surprise us with new possibilities and, sadly, increased potential for violence. The week is crammed with potent planetary combinations so many that we may occasionally feel exhausted, and regular breaks to rebalance will be helpful. On Monday the Sun aligns with Pluto completing the linkage with Saturn that began last Saturday. This chance for an ego reboot will return next summer when the Sun in Leo will again link these two powerful agents of evolution. This is a "heavy" combination that can make every decision, large or small, seem momentous. Keep in mind some are and some aren't...and in many cases it's just a feeling, but important changes are happening to us and around us. Wednesday there is a New Moon at 28 Sagittarius 32 minutes, ( http://www.celestialweather.com/images/121806.pdf) with a degree symbol of "a fat boy mowing the lawn on an elegant street." This symbol indicates a disconnect in what we're seeing in our world. There is the appearance of work by someone who's never really worked enough to lose weight. If we think about what we're seeing, there's an unhealthy pretense of effort by the privileged. The need for real work and sacrifice is implied. I can't help but think this suggests how the U.S. appears to much of the world. Notice the six - count 'em - planets in Sagittarius grouped from 9 to 10 o'clock. That breathless rushing feeling comes from all that Sagittarian energy eager to leap ahead on to the next mountaintop or next idea or next appointment or next whatever. Next being the operative word. The link to Saturn at the 2 o'clock position does help to steady and slow us down a bit. But the Mars - Uranus square is coming into focus and that is anything but calming. People touched by this square will be quite volatile, quick to anger and snap. Restraint of any kind may feel like prison chains. Finding a healthy channel for new activities is worth the effort. There are no two planets in opposition in this chart, and that indicates a lack of perspective in our thinking. Without the feedback of an opposition, we tend to be subjective and slightly, or more than slightly, out of touch. People lacking oppositions in their birth charts display this inner-directed tendency, people like U.S. President Bush. We should ask for other people's opinions and points of view since the universe will not supply them automatically. Coupled with all the "full-steam ahead" Sagittarian energy, it's possible to re-enact the Wiley Coyote dash off the cliff into midair. Meep Meep. The following evening, Thursday, the Winter Solstice occurs at 7:23pm EST. ( http://www.celestialweather.com/images/WinterSolstice2006.pdf) By this time both the Sun and Moon have shifted forward into Capricorn reducing the Sagittarian crowd to four planets and adding much needed earth energy to the mix. The Sun's entry into Capricorn has re-created last winter's resonance between the Sun and Saturn. Saturn is in the Sun's native sign (Leo) and the Sun is in Saturn's home sign (Capricorn). We may find ourselves oscillating between Capricornian caution and Leo flamboyance. We also have the chance to strike a healthy ego balance that integrates responsibility with realistic self-worth. Note in the chart that Mars is at 11 Sagittarius 14 and that Uranus is at 11 Pisces 14. The exact square of these two occurs 6 minutes before the solstice moment. The solstice chart describes the coming three months from now until the Vernal Equinox in March. This exact connection of two aggressive and often violent planets does not indicate a peaceful quarter ahead. Radical political change is likely. The level of politically motivated violence is likely to increase. Situations in Iraq and Darfur will not calm down this quarter. And I hope I'm completely wrong. We are all challenged this winter to break new ground and refuse to be pigeonholed by other people or by ourselves. The Capricorn Moon and Venus should help to anchor us and help us avoid new for newness sake alone. We should listen carefully to our inner voice when it urges second thoughts and cost considerations. The concerns above about the lack of oppositions apply here as well. Meep Meep again. Next weekend Mercury retraces the Sun's path from last week that connected Saturn with Pluto. He links with Saturn on Sunday and then Pluto on Monday. This is a time to articulate our creative will so that others can understand what we want and need. Our speech (Mercury) will have unusual powers to persuade and illuminate. Our words hold fire and can spark the minds of our audience. With Mars - Uranus still in effect, think before sending a fiery shaft of insight into your friend's consciousness. We can wound as easily as we can heal with this high-powered Mercury. The time stream calms down after this week; I will be taking a holiday and there will be no reports for the next two weeks. The next Celestial Weather report will be for the week beginning January 8th. Best wishes to one and all for a wonderful holiday season and a healthy and happy New Year. Daily Forecasts: Monday 18 December 2006 Power is changing hands with the Sun aligned with Pluto. When the Sagittarian Moon moves from Mars to Uranus this evening, some of us are likely to feel edgy if not explosive. Tuesday 19 December 2006 We're much calmer today and able to understand more of what's happening as Mercury links with Neptune and Venus links with Uranus this afternoon. The Moon touches Saturn later tonight as we settle into ourselves and the coming New Moon. Wednesday 20 December 2006 The Moon goes Void at 6:01am/9:01am at the New Moon and armies of fat boys begin to traverse their lawns. The need for personal change toward health should be a part of our New Moon meditations. The Moon enters Capricorn at 8:39am/11:39am. Thursday 21 December 2006 Despite the inclination to focus inward that comes with the New Moon, Mars and Uranus keep setting off explosions outside that distract us. The Winter Solstice occurs at 4:23pm7:23pm and the Sun begins his slow climb northward as the days grow longer and colder. The Moon has been Void since 8:05am/11:05am. Most of the western world has gone on holiday early. Friday 22 December 2006 The Moon remains Void until 1:49pm/4:49pm when she enters Aquarius. But there are no connections made today. We're all looking ahead. Saturday 23 December 2006 The Moon begins a series of future oriented contacts with the Sagittarian planets that continues into tomorrow. This is time to dream about the future you would like to inhabit. Our future begins in our dreams. Sunday 24 December 2006 The Moon goes Void at 12:09pm/3:09pm and then enters Pisces at 5:43pm/8:43pm. Despite the other-worldly Pisces feeling, we're very clear-headed with Mercury making the connection between Saturn and Pluto. Take this time to speak your dreams and plan ahead with your family. Long Range Forecast: February 13th - Mercury begins three weeks of retrograde motion that ends on March 7th. Signing important documents should be postponed. Plan to best use this time to re-organize all things mental and communicative. Expect to lose and find something. |

Celestial Weather 15 January 2007 - 21 January 2007 The Week beginning January 15th, 2007 Week as a Whole: Every New Moon marks the end of a lunar cycle and the beginning of another. It's a time when the consequences of our choices are washing over us and we can step back and re-group. The New Moons fall in relatively the same place in each sign as each month passes. Our recent New Moons have been at the end of signs and we've been working with ending situations. This New Moon is in Capricorn (chart below) and is time for us to reflect on our career and political choices and their consequences. Have they created situations that we find healthy and rewarding? How are we spending our time? Do we feel useful and important to those in our world? In addition to the endings and beginnings of this New Moon on Thursday, Mercury, Mars, and the Sun change signs as further indications of a phase shift taking place this week. On Monday, Mercury enters Aquarius his strongest sign. While in Aquarius Mercury can "see" ideas, he make occasional lightning leaps to sure knowledge, he can bridge gaps finding ways to explain with clarity that are widely understood. He can also be dogmatically sure of his knowledge and quite pig-headed when pushed. This is a period to step out of ordinary thought patterns look for new perspectives. On Tuesday Mars enters Capricorn and this too is his strongest zodiac position. Our aggression - get up and go - is focused and efficient. Mars spends about six weeks in Capricorn every two years and it's a time to take on hard work and complex tasks. Sustained effort is not usually a strength of Mars, but here in Capricorn he perseveres and is content with small steady progress in relentless Capricorn fashion. In another way, his passage through Capricorn will fire up politics into outright confrontation. Seasoned political types are usually successful at maintaining control and, like the sure-footed goat, rarely act without forethought. Expect some outbursts of true feeling from now through the end of February. Venus aligns with Neptune an hour before the New Moon ( http://www.celestialweather.com/images/011507.pdf) putting their combined energy into the coming four-week lunar cycle. (You will find them together at the 5 o'clock position.) Venus joins Neptune every year as she circles the Sun (and our sky). Combined in Aquarius they present an opportunity to envision our future with our loved ones. We also need to feel a direction and higher purpose in our lives together; a purpose shared by other liked minded people. As always with Neptune's bright images before us, we need to remember that he beckons from the land of magical ideals, ideals we should strive to reach but, perhaps, will never fully attain. We should be satisfied with progress and not be disappointed that we cannot achieve perfection in all things. Neptune brings us close to perfection and even sparks our lives with bright magical moments now and then. Clinging to these moments or trying to reproduce them leads to frustration. But this is time to renew our vision, step back and inward at this New Moon and take the long view of what matters to us and where we're going. Interestingly, this New Moon degree bears the symbol of "a woman reading tea leaves" and further points to a mystical vision of the future that's available to us. The symbol points to the underlying unified harmony of our world in which the greatest is found symbolized in the smallest. It's this same coherence that empowers the positions of the planets to describe the condition of time. We live in a meaningful magical world that functions with 6 billion plus centers and no boundaries. The symbol also urges us to pay attention to the small signs that come to us every day and especially this week from our dreams. This New Moon also carries the energy of Jupiter square to Uranus which has been coming into focus in recent weeks. (Jupiter is at 7 o'clock and Uranus is at 4 o'clock.) Jupiter is exactly square to Uranus next Monday and even thought he moves at a stately pace they are less than 1/2 a degree from exactitude on this New Moon. If you've had a "Eureka" moment recently you've been touch by Jupiter - Uranus. If you've felt suddenly more connected with people that ordinarily you wouldn't encounter: Jupiter - Uranus. Sudden restlessness and metaphysical claustrophobia can also be linked to these two. Both are mind-expanding challengers of the status quo. They are working to bring us to a new understanding in life, to put things together in new ways and find new meaning. When we look at the New Moon chart as a whole, we see Saturn in Leo at 10 o'clock and on the other side of the chart all the other planets contained between Jupiter and Uranus. See this as the "king" having to adjust to a populace who's been given a new vision and is eager for movement toward this new future. Leaders must choose to lead toward this future or resist it. They cannot duck the issue at this New Moon. Saturn retrograde draws all our attention to choices made in the past, made by all of us, and at the New Moon it is time to consider the consequences and the road forward. When the Sun enters Aquarius on Saturday we can begin to take the first steps. Daily Forecasts: Monday 15 January 2007 A little too much mental stimulation may be in the air this morning as the Moon moves from Jupiter to square Uranus. Later she moves to anticipate the New Moon's magic by connecting with Venus and then Neptune. Tuesday 16 January 2007 The Moon goes Void at 1:28pm/4:28pm aligned with Pluto. Mars has just entered Capricorn thirty minutes before. This is time to refocus your effort and clear away extraneous details. The Moon enters Capricorn at 5:49pm/8:49pm. Even if you're "rearin' to go" don't kick off a project during the Void Moon. Wednesday 17 January 2007 Steady work, quiet mood. We're all introspective and pondering the past, both social and personal. Thursday 18 January 2007 The Moon goes Void at the New Moon at 8:01pm/11:01pm. She enters Aquarius at 10:16pm/1:16am. Take the time between to breathe slowly, meditate or pray, and find your inner balance. Venus and Neptune have just aligned. Think long thoughts and see clear visions. Avoid the raucous and rude; our natural armor's a bit thin. Light a candle and a stick of incense. Fill your space with light and music. Friday 19 January 2007 We're finishing up and moving on today. There's change in the air. Expect a "big" dream tonight; look for guidance in its symbols. Saturday 20 January 2007 A good night for a gathering with a non-homogenous group of people. Go out somewhere different. Accept that some part of your past is falling away. Even if it's served you well, you've outgrown it. The Moon goes Void at 9:00pm/12:00am. Sunday 21 January 2007 She enters Pisces at 12:48am/3:48am and we lose some of our cool detachment. This evening the Moon again channels the Jupiter - Uranus mind-expansion as she connects with them both at 9:20pm/12:20pm. Sleep may be slow in coming as our minds buzz. Long Range Forecast: February 13th - Mercury begins three weeks of retrograde motion that ends on March 7th. Signing important documents should be postponed. Plan to best use this time to re-organize all things mental and communicative. Expect to lose and find something. |

Celestial Weather 29 January 2007 - 4 February 2007 The Week beginning January 29th, 2007 Week as a Whole: There are several planetary connections this week that point to new ways of thinking and/or new methods. Mercury links with Pluto midweek and on Saturday, Mars and Uranus cooperate as do the Sun and Jupiter. But the major event of this week is Thursday's Full Moon which contains an unusual "Y" pattern that's very tightly focused. "Y" patterns like this one often symbolize a decision that must be made or a fork in the road ahead. There is no choice about the requirement to make a choice, and in the U.S. chart the pressure is on our leaders and relates to either the courts or foreign policy or both. More detail below. Mercury links with Pluto on Wednesday in a combination that offers a chance to revise and re-think plans and creative projects. What's old and "been done" is clear and new ideas are available if we open our minds and listen. This is a pattern that opens doors and creates opportunities but does not compel. It's up to us to make use of the mental penetration that comes with Mercury in Aquarius and Pluto in Sagittarius. If you find yourself slapping your forehead as you see a solution that has been there all along, you've opened your mind to Mercury - Pluto. If you've felt like you're beating your head against a wall, make another try on Wednesday. If there's no breakthrough, maybe it's time to walk away. Much of the swirling ideas and verbiage of the past weeks can come clear since this combination allows us to efficiently remove the noise from our perceptive systems and focus on essentials. But this pattern is background or setup for the Full Moon Thursday evening (PST). ( http://www.celestialweather.com/images/012907.pdf) Saturn and the Moon, both in Leo and both connecting with planets in GW Bush's chart, bracket the high point at the 12 o'clock position. Since all the other planets are opposite these two, they are the focus and channel for the energy of the chart. Saturn and the Moon, for the U.S., concentrate the country's communications and relations with global society. Notice that there are four planets whose degrees are number 12: the Sun and Moon, Mars, and Uranus. Notice also that the Moon is the apex at which the other three are focused. This inverted "Y" pattern strongly indicates that a decision must be made on this Full Moon, made in public, and from which there is no dodging or spinning. Mars and Uranus can be violent but most likely will force this issue suddenly and without warning. Procrastination will only make the situation worse. Some people touched by this pattern will be vindicated and their advice seen as prescient. Others will not be so fortunate. On a personal level, it's most important to accept responsibility and accept the change. There is help available from people in power and authority if asked for. "Y" patterns can form without incorporating a Full Moon. But this one's Full Moon involvement means the changes will take place in full view, in the spotlight. And like all Full Moons there's an equal chance for fulfillment and the reconciliation of opposites as a chance for rupture, discord, and failure. Since the Sun and Moon are both in fixed signs, Leo and Aquarius, and since Leo and Aquarius embody the strong-will and egos characteristic of the fixed signs, we can expect to see a strong will challenged by a sharp change in circumstances. Mars and Uranus are in dynamic and fluid signs, Capricorn and Pisces. These signs are not fixed and are poised to bring some shocking information that will shake up the set status quo. For those connected with this pattern, consider the Borg warning, "Resistance is futile". Accept the new reality and accept the change because the situation has already changed. This "Y" type pattern is found in the charts of people whose lives follow a zigzag route through the world. As their "Y" pattern is contacted, they are confronted with "Lady or the Tiger" situations in which they must choose. And their choices change the direction of their life. We'll see more of this dynamic pattern in early April when 3 "Y" patterns form on the 2nd. Daily Forecasts: Monday 29 January 2007 The Moon goes Void at 10:40am/1:40pm and enters Cancer at 2:16pm/5:16pm. Kick off in the morning and then re-connect late in the day. Notice the shift from thought to feelings. Tuesday 30 January 2007 Get in gear before 1:30pm/4:30pm when the Moon goes Void. There should be a feeling of group unity today as the Moon makes nice with Uranus in Pisces. Groups are open to new members. Get two days of work started because tomorrow the Moon is Void. Wednesday 31 January 2007 The Moon is Void ALL DAY. So keep up with current tasks and avoid starting totally new projects. Discount new ideas and opportunities that come your way today, unless they come after 9:14pm/12:14am when the Moon enters Leo. Thursday 1 February 2007 A day of decision. The Full Moon in Leo and Aquarius is also about how we express our love for each other, and how we are open to receive that love. There's a steadily rising drumbeat of energy all day leading up to the Full Moon at 9:45pm/12:45am. Meditate before not after. Friday 2 February 2007 The ripples are still spreading outward and with Mercury entering Pisces we're going first to feelings and intuition before logic. We're considering karma and consequences. With the Moon moving from Neptune to Saturn (who are moving into opposition) we may see an end to wishful thinking...and that's almost always healthy in the long run. Saturday 3 February 2007 The Moon has gone Void and entered Virgo at 6:34am/9:34am. Overnight Mars has completed the link with Uranus (see the Full Moon chart) and the Sun links with Jupiter. We may awaken feeling renewed and ready for a fresh start. Some aspect of our world has shifted. Sunday 4 February 2007 Sort of an "Itchy and Scratchy" day with the Virgo Moon wanting to correct and perhaps should wait until asked. Long Range Forecast: February 13th - Mercury begins three weeks of retrograde motion that ends on March 7th. Signing important documents should be postponed. Plan to best use this time to re-organize all things mental and communicative. Expect to lose and find something. March 3rd, March 18th - The spring eclipse season begins with a Lunar Eclipse on March 3rd to be followed by a Solar Eclipse on the 18th. All energy levels are elevated during the eclipse periods. Some of us will have great accomplishments and others will not be able to handle the juice. April 2nd - A complex of three "Y" patterns forms indicating major decisions are required and a sharp turn taken by those whose personal horoscopes are touched this day. More on this as the time approaches. Thanks to astrologer Helga Steffee for pointing this out. Long-Long Range Forecast: April 14, 2009 - January 21, 2010 - Saturn makes a series of squares to Pluto newly in Capricorn. |

Celestial Weather 5 February 2007 - 11 February 2007
The Week beginning February 5th, 2007
Week as a Whole:
Every year as the Earth circles the Sun a series of annual contacts is formed by the Sun and the inner planets: Mercury and Venus. This week the course of the Earth's revolution will align the Sun with Neptune on Thursday to be followed by the Sun appearing opposite Saturn on Saturday. Viewed from above the Solar System, the Earth is moving into a line connecting the Sun, Saturn, and Neptune. Functionally Saturn and Neptune are opposites. Saturn defines and enforces borders, limits, and boundaries; Neptune dissolves these same dividing lines and seeks to unify. Saturn is the "reality principle" bringing us to confront hard facts and sometimes unpleasant truths; Neptune shows us perfection and what could be. Every year the Sun aligns with Neptune and every year he passes opposite Saturn. The current conditions, which find Saturn and Neptune opposite each other, bring us situations in which what we wish must quickly confront what's possible.
When the Sun aligns with Neptune our dream life leaks into waking life. Our imaginations color what we see and feel during the day. We sometimes see what we want to see, rather than what is. Our discrimination is not optimal. It's a fine line we must walk to appreciate the potential of people and situations without being gullible and without being cynical as a defense. Confusion and indecision often come with Neptune's energy. Our protective shields, that can both isolate and protect us, are lowered and we are more open to influences in our environment. This can be wonderful if you place yourself in a beautiful and enriching setting. It can create pollution issues if we sponge up negativity. So we must use our consciousness to be selective and alert for body messages that warn us of "poison" in the atmosphere.
Before the Sun - Neptune alignment on Thursday, another annual event occurs: Venus aligns with Uranus. Uranus represents another force that acts to breakdown Saturn's structures. We need the strength of Saturn in our bones and in the ability to retain a sense of identity and continuity in our lives. But Saturn acts over time to lock us into habits, habits of activity and habits of thought. He ranks people according to their utility. And he doesn't like to admit he might be wrong or that people can change or improve. Uranus blows this crystallization apart. Coming through Venus, as he does this Wednesday, he lets us see people in a new way, or meet people that don't ordinarily cross our paths. We have a sense of distance and can step back from our relationships and take stock. And this stepping back sometimes brings the shocking realization that a particular relationship has reached the end of its useful life.
After the Sun - Neptune event, Venus forms a square with Jupiter. This too asks us to stretch our concepts of what we want from people. Venus in Pisces and Jupiter in Sagittarius are both operating in religious/mystical realms. We will feel a need to have meaning in our social life and to feel a deeper and broader connection with the people in our lives. We will want to see forward motion or growth from our relationships and a shared purpose. If taken negatively, this can be a brief but intense case of grass being greener just because it's new or different grass. If we open our hearts and minds and pay attention during the influence of Venus - Uranus, Sun - Neptune, and Venus - Jupiter, we can move into the weekend with a new point of view.
For three days we'll be challenged to open our minds to new ideas and new perceptions, first by Uranus and then by Neptune, and finally by Jupiter. There may be a slight "out of control" feeling since many of these new notions come from deep within us and may seem strange. The urge to chuck it all and run off to the South Seas may cross our minds. This is not always a bad idea. Breaking out of the mold and following one's dream is moving toward individuation and away from collective living. Escaping from responsibility is not.
But then comes Saturn on Saturday to remind us we do have responsibilities; people count on us: partners, families, co-workers, groups, etc. Saturn will work to focus our dreams and give us pause to consider what they require. While he may deflate some, to others he will give form and structure. Saturn and Neptune in healthy combination have been called the "architect's planets". The architect has a vision and then makes it a reality. What many find difficult is that not all blueprints become buildings. Saturday some of our dreams and ideals will be tested. The confusion (and, yes, there can be deception) of Neptune will be clarified. Some of us will feel they've "come to their senses", others brought "down to earth", and still others charged with a plan for a new future.
These are annual contacts happen regularly and form the background music to human life. We're coming down from the very high energy of last week's unusual Full Moon and Mars - Uranus violence. We're beginning a few weeks of lowered stress levels soon to be enlivened by the usual Mercury retrograde hi-jinks. Perhaps we can take a break from worrying about a future that seems to be rushing at us with the acceleration of the Mayan calendar.
Daily Forecasts:
Monday 5 February 2007
A good start to the work week under the Virgo Moon. Get cranking early before she goes Void at 2:36pm/5:26pm. Then keep on with what's in motion until the Moon enters Libra at 6:15pm/9:15pm. In between, not much new happens.
Tuesday 6 February 2007
We're restless and eager for something new. Group activities feel good. Ideas flow easily but we bore easily as well with Venus approaching Uranus and sending energy to the Libra Moon.
Wednesday 7 February 2007
A busy, even hectic morning cools down by mid-afternoon when the Moon links with Saturn. We "make up our minds" about some personal issue this evening.
Thursday 8 February 2007
The Moon is Void until 7:09am/10:09am when she enters Scorpio. The Sun aligns with Neptune at roughly the same time. Expect to be a bit foggy this morning and maybe this will be a day seen through a lingering dream. Pay attention to any messages in your dreams. Be selective about places and company.
Friday 9 February 2007
Scorpio is known for strong emotions and they flow today. You're either on the bus or off. Indecision is considered "off the bus" by Scorpios. Feelings are either very good or very bad. Avoid the green eyed monster.
Saturday 10 February 2007
With the Sun opposite Saturn and a Last Quarter Moon shining on those in power, politics may be a background to our daily life this day. Be precise, "pick up every stitch". Saturn brings out the inner cop in all of us. But with the Moon Void all day until 7:01pm/10:01pm we'll get warnings rather than citations for our sins. Last night's bad dreams are just that...bad dreams.
Sunday 11 February 2007
We're feeling the Sagittarius Moon today: more optimistic, restless, easily bored, and needing room to move. Get out and move around either physically or mentally. A day for travel or expansions.
Long Range Forecast:
February 13th - Mercury begins three weeks of retrograde motion that ends on March 7th.
