Awakening Healing Light of the Tao
By Mantak & Maneewan Chia

This is one of the best books I have ever read.  I go back to it constantly.  It is somewhat fat...but is definitely worth reading.
In the first part of the book the authors give such a good description of the philosophy of Taoism.   They also describe how one can be of any religious persuasion or none at all and still allow this philosophy to inform your life and the decisions that you make.
They also explain Chi, how it works and how the body uses it.  The last parts of the book are descriptions of Qi Gong...primarily the Microcosmic Orbit.

Mr. Chia also has a smaller book with some of the same information.
Awaken Healing Energy Through The Tao

That'z pretty cool Mimi. I'm impressed. A few of us here are nei kung and kung fu students. Different system than Mantak's however. You bring a lot to the table.
Its nice to have a dynamic Chinese Yoga system that while not requiring one to do as much ground work as Indian yoga provide a powerful bedrock for internal health, mental strength, tranquility and self defense. Nei Kung and Chi Kung rock!

How long have you been studying and are you also a martial artist?

I wasn't quite sure where to post the reply to your questions...thought I would give here a try.
Qi Gong of any sort is a very powerful practice.  I know you must reap many beneficial effects from it.

I have been practicing yoga for close to 30 years.  My practice has changed a lot as my body has gotten older.  At the same time it has deepened in ways I could not have imagined when I was a young yogini.
I have studied Qi Gong with a local Sifu, and while I loved it, yoga is my "thing."
I have never taken a class in martial arts.
At one point I considered taking a class with my granddaughter, but she was more interested in practicing yoga with me, so we never did.
I have studied the Tao for 16 years.  Philosophically, I am more alligned with Taoist philosophy than most others that I have explored.
As the consciousness of the Earth and her inhabitants evolves, it becomes quite apparent that there is more overlap in the varried religio-philosophic sectors than the sects that grew out of them would have us believe.
All is One, we just have our different routes to travel as we explore our Oneness.
Thank you for your interest.
Namaste
Mimi
