The Mind...

Invisible and subtle is the mind, for it flies after fancies wherever it likes; but let the wise man guard well his mind, for a mind well guarded is a source of great joy.

Hidden in the mystery of consciousness, the mind flies alone far away. Those who set their mind in harmony become free from the bonds of death.

He whose mind is unsteady...  who knows not the path of Truth, whose faith and peace are ever wavering, he shall never reach fullness of wisdom...

Meaning and the mind - what’s the connection?

Before we can tackle meaning, we’ve got to know what meaning is. Meaning is an intention, aim, or design. When we say we want to know what life means, we are really saying we want to know what it’s for. What purpose does it serve? Well, the primary feature of life is intelligence. By intelligence we mean purposeful activity. We make decisions and do things. Parameciums make decisions and do things. Rocks do not make decisions, although they can chip a tooth. If we knew why we have intelligence, we would be a great deal closer to understanding why we do anything, including exist. To understand intelligence, we must understand the mind.

Science has given us many answers, but the one thing that science is still completely silent about is the nature of consciousness. Of course, there is more and more information every day about the connection between consciousness and the brain. Scientists, both mad and sane, are undertaking detailed research on how our minds and behavior are affected when parts of our brain are stimulated, removed, and even added. These things affect our memories, feelings, and our thought processes. However, such research still doesn’t answer the question of what consciousness is.

If you built a robot that had no real understanding but did have a vast store of stock responses and some clever rules about building sentences, it might fool many people into thinking it had intelligence. Because you programmed it, however, you would know that there were no "mental images" floating around inside the circuits of that machine. It simply took input, processed it according to specific rules, and generated output. The question is, why do we have these mental images and feelings? Why aren’t we biological "machines" that simply processes signals and automatically generate responses with no awareness of what’s going on? Why do we have consciousness, and where did it come from?

Consciousness is something completely different from other characteristics of matter such as mass, charge, structure, etc. While our consciousness seems to depend on the matter in our brains, we cannot detect anything unusual about our brains that would indicate why consciousness is attached to it. If we agree that consciousness is in the brain as a whole, is it in a single neuron? A single atom? A single electron? Assuming that nothing exists except for interacting particles, somehow within every particle there is something that provides the basis for consciousness.

Complex conscious activity may require highly complex structures such as our brains to occur, but the basis of consciousness must be present in matter itself. Our minds are simply one manifestation of a universal phenomena. People are examples of one way to organize the consciousness in matter. Are there other ways? How can we know which types of organizations of matter yield high-level consciousness like ours, and which do not? Are there structures which support levels of consciousness higher than ours? Are doorknobs conscious?

Well, this page is supposed to answer questions, not ask them, so here is the answer:

Not only is consciousness a universal property of matter, it is the primary property of matter. In fact, it’s the other way around, matter is a property of consciousness!

Yes, consciousness is primary. Matter sprang from consciousness. We can’t help it if this is starting to sound like Genesis, it’s just the way it is. In the beginning was the word, and the word was pinging around the inside some sort of Mind, and it generated the physical universe. How's that for pat?

So, to summarize, the meaning of life is linked to the workings of the mind from which the universe sprang. What does that mind want, anyway?

Communicating with the subconscious Mind

By now many of you know the importance and sheer power of the Mind
in creating, or more accurately attracting our reality, a process
known as "The Law of Attraction".

"Thoughts are things", and therefore every thought, however small,
has its corresponding effect. In terms of The Law of Attraction
this means every thought will attract to you whatever you
predominantly think about.

Unfortunately most people are still not aware of The Law of
Attraction, and therefore focus on the negative things in life.
When they attract those negative things they ascribe them to such
erroneous concepts as "luck", "chance" or "fortune".

Those who know The Law of Attraction can consciously create the
exact reality they wish for with immutable certainty. Increasingly
more people are doing exactly that, including many readers of this
newsletter judging by the many emails received detailing these
successes which are wonderful to read.

One of the questions that most often arises goes something like
this:

"In order to attract to us the reality we wish for, is it necessary
to focus on it constantly, to the exclusion of all other thoughts?

The answer is absolutely not. The important thing to keep in mind,
and of course to practice, is to never allow thoughts into your
Mind that are contrary to your wishes, including those particularly
destructive thoughts; fears, doubts and uncertainty; thoughts that
ensure that many people who might have succeeded with The Law of
Attraction never do. Any negative thought should be immediately
cancelled by saying to yourself, either aloud or in your Mind;
"cancel!, cancel!, cancel!", until the negative thought dissipates.

Our objective therefore is to allocate time each day to find a
quiet place, fully relax and focus on our wishes by using a Law of
Attraction technique as detailed in Our Ultimate Reality.

Afterwards we put the object of our focus out of our Mind, and then
ensure no contradictory thought including doubt thoughts enters our
Mind.

Another comment I frequently see is from busy people who claim not
to have the "time" or opportunity for one reason or another to focus
on attracting wishes or using a Law of Attraction method.

Well the good news is that one of the most powerful times to focus
on practicing The Law of Attraction is just before sleep. At this
time we are much more connected to the subconscious Mind as our
brainwaves slow down from the normal waking state to sleep state.

The higher the frequency of our brainwaves, the less consciously
connected we are to our subconscious Mind. This is why brainwave
entrainment, as with Abyss, our own powerful binaural brainwave
entrainment track, is so valuable for practicing The Law of
attraction and much more.

Why is the subconscious Mind so important in The process of The Law
of Attraction? These are the main reasons:

1. The subconscious Mind is around 90% of our total Mind Power.
2. The subconscious Mind is sublime; it never, ever questions
3. The subconscious Mind is in permanent communication with our
Higher-Self, or more correctly Inner-Self, and most importantly
also with the Superconscious Mind; The Universe.

It is evident therefore that the route to attracting all of our
wishes is to communicate those wishes to our subconscious Mind, and
indeed this is the basis of almost all Law of Attraction teachings.

We can take advantage of these facts by communicating our wishes to
our subconscious Mind just before sleep with the following
benefits:

1. No special time needs to be set aside during the day
2. Our connection to our subconscious Mind is strong
3. We take thoughts into sleep so they cannot later be questioned

So after retiring to bed and just before sleep is one of the very
best and most convenient times to practice a Law of Attraction
method for achieving literally anything you can possibly imagine.

My book, Our Ultimate Reality includes the most powerful Law of
Attraction methods that can be used with great effect at sleep-time.

And finally I would like to conclude this week with a verse that I
repeat here from time to time for the benefit of our new
subscribers, but also because it is so true and applicable to all.

I hold it true that thoughts are things;
They're endowed with bodies and breath and wings;
And that we send them forth to fill
The world with good results, or ill.
That which we call our secret thought
Speeds forth to earth's remotest spot,
Leaving its blessings or its woes
Like tracks behind it as it goes.
We build our future thought by thought,
For good or ill, yet know it not.
Yet, so the universe was wrought.
Thought is another name for fate;
Choose, then, thy destiny and wait,
For love brings love and hate brings hate.
