Prayer Is Nothing to Be Ashamed Of
....Prayer is one of the strongest psychic forces we have and it's a shame that more people don't use it
to their own betterment and financial gain. Someone once told me that prayer was nothing more than
ESP with God. I think that's a terrific statement. It sums up everything you could want to say about
prayer and it brings it out of the dusty church pews and into the light of modern parapsychology.
The God you believe in must be a very personal God. He must be your God. As you grow and
mentally expand your mental image of God will change.
Turning Inward
You know that Super Powers can be reached by meditation, concentration, self-hypnosis, and
complete mental relaxation. Now you will understand that it can be reached by prayer as well.
That means that you have---built inside of you---a direct line to the Creator. (And think about
the meaning of the word "creator." The original source. The giver. The maker. The doer.) Once
you learn to use this direct line, nothing that you deserve and need will be denied you. Money will
be solved. Problems will all be solved. Time and space do not hinder Him/Her. You, by turning
inward, can have everything you need.
Praying Holes in Heaven
So many people when they pray make a fuss about it. They weep. They moan. They shout. They
beg. They upset themselves and everyone around them with their supplications and their self
righteousness. There's no need to bombard heaven with a ton of words. Prayers are not missiles
to be shot into the clouds in hopes that you will shake heaven and make God aware of your desire.
In true prayer, you turn within--- not without. Jesus said it wasn't necessary to make a loud noise
on a corner when you wished to talk to God. He said you could do so inside a closet. That closet is
your own body.
But while prayer is basically sending, it is also receiving. While you are seriously making a request,
your mind is open to receive instant advice as to how you can help yourself. You will be praying
for an answer and suddenly that answer will be given. Remember that the direct line works two
ways. Stop and listen while you pray. push the ego out of the way. Just because it's your dime,
don't feel you have the right to hog the conversation. Stop and listen.
A Certain Peace
One of the important side effects of prayer is that it brings a certain calmness and peace. You
"feel better" after you have prayed. You chase the blues that comes from loneliness and uncertainty.
Alexis Carrel was a medical doctor who studied the effect of prayer in his patients. he was impressed
by how those who prayed got better than those who refused to pray. He also examined the effect of
group prayer on patients versus the longer recovery needed for those who had no such prayers said
for them. His conclusion: "If you make a habit of sincere prayer, your life will be noticeably and
profoundly altered."
Marcel Vogel is a scientist and chemical engineer in San Jose, California. he believes in the power
of prayer and has proven it with his experiments on common houseplants. Wiring them to intricate
and delicate devices, he has made the effects of prayer on an ill and dying plant visible and chartered
them. He says you do not have to be religious to pray effectively, but you must be sincere in what
you are praying for.
Being sincere doesn't mean straining yourself. It doesn't mean spending hours and hours with your
eyes closed and mumbling. It doesn't mean making all sorts of promises "if" your prayers are answered.
The source--God--has other things to do than listen to three solid hours of how badly you need a new
job or a new mate. Once you have expressed your prayer sincerely and effectively, that's all there is to it.
Words, Words, Power
Many people who pray become frustrated because they are praying silently. They bottle up their
emotions and don't let them escape. In the other practices in this book silence (so as not to send
out other vibrations) has been indicated, but when you pray, the opposite is true. Prayer needs
vocalizing. For some reason, your requests work better when they are asked aloud.
Words have long been noted for their vibratory power. The Bible tells that "In the beginning was the
Word. . . . and the Word was God." The Egyptians (Africans) believed that one of their gods spoke
the works and the world was made. Hindu scripture says that if a man speaks in pure affirmative
way, happiness follows him. The Greeks believe the word is a form of cosmic power. And in our
day and age scientists have charted the vibrational profiles of words and sounds.
Sounds make patterns and patterns form designs, and it is from designs, and it is from designs that
objects are formed into being. The vibrations of certain beneficial sounds have been known for
centuries, like the yogic "Om," the magical "Abracadabra,", the Christian Amen and the African
Amon from which it came.
These internationally spoken sounds have been known to produce results as their vibrations go
outward and upward. Their vibrations have been compared to the sounds used on the most modern
electronic equipment designed to function when a certain sound is produced. We all know of
electronically controlled doors, which open only when a certain word is used. Or of the sounds
the telephone company uses to set its complicated long-distance machinery into operation. And
what about Ali Baba, who only had to shout "Open sesame," to move aside the rock at the robber's
cave?
Group Prayer
Why don't you get a few friends together on a regular weekly basis for an hour of prayer?
It's being done all across the United States. You don't have to be "religious" and you don't
have to be a minister or a priest to lead you. All you have to have is the desire to help
yourself and others through the forces of the Intelligent Energies.
Such a group exists in San Jose, California. It's called the Universal Receivers Association
and its leader is an ex-cop named Jerry Quinteiro. The membership is open to all comers and
the results they had border on the miraculous. The have, through prayer, gathered up enough
money for a member to open his own business. They have, through prayer, given a piano to a
lonely woman, received and given several automobiles, arranged free air tickets so families
could be reunited and cured dozens of children and adults of ailments ranging from pneumonia
to stomach poisoning.
Mr. Quinteiro believes that prayer is the strongest force that exists, "and the beautiful part
of it," he says, "is that it's absolutely free. If you use it in the right way nothing is
impossible. What our group refer to as "happenings" others call 'Miracles' ".
