Surrogate tapping and its effect on depression. by Mernie Graham Hi, Gary! Treated a mom last week who was suicidally depressed over mental health issues with her daughter. The girl, 17 1/2 yo (which is bad, funding-wise, in most states under managed care), had used up all her funds and was about to be discharged from the psych unit of the local children's hospital, with nowhere to go. Symptoms include anorexia and bulimia and self-mutilation. She has been hospitalized for most of the past year with no progress, only deterioration. She will no longer speak to her mom, much less go home with her. Other options were quite bleak, since "locked" beds in this state are precious few. The mom did a splendid job of doing her homework, tapping many, many times surrogately each day for her daughter [surrogate tapping is where the mother taps herself in behalf of the daughter]. I suggested to her the tapping was likely to have a carry-over effect on the tapper, but we'd have no real way to measure the effect it might have on her daughter. But to just do it anyway. She did. This week, she reported her depression is gone and she can't believe it. (She's been depressed most of her life, but especially since the girl's dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer during her pregnancy with this child. He died when the girl was 2). The girl got a couple days reprieve to stay at the hospital, then transferred to the best, and least likely to get, facility. She has 30 days there, and it's the facility most likely to allow this alternative sort of intervention. To the surprise of everyone, she made the transition easily. Who knows, eh? Mernie Graham |

A list of thoZe groupz can be found on EMOFREE.COM <<<I heard a very interesting theory on EFT that makes a lot of sense to me - basically, tapping yourself, regardless of where you tap, keeps your conscious mind busy, so that when you recite your affirmation it doesn't encounter the mental resistance or mental excuses you would normally give yourself. So the whole deal on "energy meridians" and such is just a smokescreen of sorts for your conscious mind, see?>>>
Yeah, sort of like sigils in chaos magic (and many other magics). However, the explanation doesn't apply to all cases. For example, when I use EFT, I just name the unwanted emotion. So, each time I'm tapping a point, I say something like "fear" or "doubt." This is not an affirmation. Of course, there is a hidden affirmation that instructs my unconscious to get rid of the emotion. Personally, I don't believe that the location of the points has anything to do with the effect of the technique. I have not tested this belief, however, and I am not planning on it. I really just LIKE the way EFT works for me now and am not willing to risk messing it up until I find an equally powerful emotion release that I can use. Incidentally, I have found that when I consciously see the energy blockages that I am dissolving using my tapping and see the energy flowing as I tap and name the emotion, EFT has a much larger effect than if I simply do the exercise without focus.

Surrogate EFT eliminates smoking addiction Hi Everyone, Jagjeet Singh Ahluwalia from Canada helps his friend give up cigarettes by using intentional (surrogate) EFT. Please note that it often takes more than one EFT session to clear away all the emotional debris underlying the need to smoke. Sometimes, as in this case, the process unfolds quite cleanly and the habitual need vanishes rapidly. Hugs, Gary By Jagjeet Singh Ahluwalia Hi Gary, I wanted to share another wonder that I saw working with EFT. I have a team member Ashwani who joined me from India in Montreal, Canada. Ashwani has been smoking for around 5 years and used to smoke around 10 cigarettes every day. He brought some cigarette stock from India for himself. However during one of our conversations he showed a willingness to drop this addiction. He had of course been introduced to EFT earlier being a part of my team :-) and had used EFT but very rarely I would say. So when he showed his willingness to drop smoking I told him that EFT could be of some help on this. He seemed open to the idea and decided that as soon as he ends his stock of cigarettes from India, he would drop smoking. So last weekend this happened and then the next day when we were in the office he informed me that he hasn't been smoking for a day. Later in the day we were having a walk after lunch and got around to talking about smoking. I asked him how does it feel. He said that he is very angry, irritated does not feel like talking to anyone. So as soon as this conversation came upon my radar I started intentional (surrogate) tapping. And I kept on talking to him. What is your feeling? Are you ready to explode or what?. He said yes that is what I feel. Do you have this craving to smoke. He said Yes I want to smoke...and I just keep thinking about it. You don't feel like communicating to anyone - yes. So i just kept on with intentional tapping talking to him. Then I took the conversation around to how did he start smoking. He described how it had all started that he had no such intention, how one of his friends got him into it - actually taught him to do it - how he liked the feeling of smoke and taste going down to the lungs and inside of the body and then how he got hooked to the taste. tap tap tap......intentional tapping during all of this talk. I also asked him for anything emotionally that could have been going on with him at that time but he could not recollect anything. Then I asked him that what he should do is write down all that we have been discussing and then tap on it one by one. I asked him if he still has that feeling of anger and irritation there. He said it has been coming and going. This showed me that something was moving already. I suddenly had an Aha! moment, the words came to me and I told him he should also tap on "Even though I have these withdrawal symptoms..." Then he writes it down and taps and I kept on with intentional tapping. I also went ahead and told him to tap on "Even though my system has this pattern and need to smoke which is stored somewhere...." So we ended our talk and the intentional tapping session. When we were leaving the office I asked him not to forget writing down and tapping. Next day - I asked Ashwani if he wrote and tapped. He actually sounded pretty happy and upbeat as compared to the previous day. He informed me that he did write down a few things but did not need to tap. In fact he was not having any cravings, even when the roommate that he is staying with was smoking right there with him. He says that need/craving is gone from within and he has not felt the anger and irritation since yesterday. I told him about intentional tapping and he said oh yeah! I really do not know how much he believed in it but he was thankful. So thanks once again to EFT. Best Regards, Jagjeet Singh Ahluwalia PS: I wrote this email but held on to it to be sure so three weeks later I followed up with Ashwani. He does not have any desire to smoke and he also informed me that he had made a few earlier attempts to drop smoking but in the few days that he had stopped in between it was very difficult and all he could think of was cigarettes and of course he had always come back to it. But this time it was different as the desire is not there anymore and he has been staying with someone who smokes so the motivation to smoke is still there with all the smoke and cigarette smell all around him. He has in fact downloaded and gone through the EFT manual and on his way to starting with tapping on other things - he is hooked to EFT now :-). Jagjeet Singh Ahluwalia For all those who are interested in learning more about this simple, powerful healing technique and its endless uses for external and internal conditions minor or terminal contact [email protected] or even better leave a message on this thread. |

Wow! I went to that site and I found the whole thing fascinating. Amazing how this works on anything and so fast too! My brother could use this for stopping cigarettes because he is having a tough time trying to quit his habit! He is pretty open minded so maybe I can get him to try the technique! I appreciate you sharing this with us Tongnan! Bless you. Krota |

More on EFT... HOME WHAT IS EFT?/H4> Emotional Freedom Techniques is an Energy Psychology process developed by Gary Craig that works with the mind-body energy system to (often totally) eliminate all kinds of emotional, mental, physical and spiritual discomfort. Described as "emotional acupuncture," it is one of the most effective ways to balance the body's energy system that I have experienced. EFT?has been proven clinically effective as a simple yet powerful way of releasing fears, phobias, anxieties, angers, addictions, and all kinds of emotional and physical issues. This is a new paradigm in healing because it no longer takes months or years of therapy and boxes of tissues to resolve problems. With EFT? specific issues can be dissolved in minutes—forever! The beauty of EFT?is that ANYONE can learn how to apply it on themselves. And since it is known worldwide, you can easily find a practitioner to work with you. Even mental health professionals and doctors are discovering EFT? Remember, if you have a serious health issue, use EFT?or any other self-help technique with common sense. And check with your personal physician or counselor before discontinuing any medications. HOW DOES EFT?WORK EFT?is based on the discovery by Dr. Roger Callahan that emotional discomfort is caused by a disruption in the mind/body energy system. Dr. Callahan combined ancient wisdom (acupuncture) with modern techniques (kineseology) and developed Thought Field Therapy (TFT). Gary Craig was trained by Dr. Callahan and then streamlined TFT into EFT? While tapping on acupressure points along meridians, or pathways of energy throughout the body, and being tuned in to a specific problem or issue, the mind/body energy system is "straightened out," and the energy becomes available so we can heal. Whether this is really how EFT?works or not, the proof is in the pudding. More often than not, the physical or emotional pain being addressed dissolves completely and permanently. Even when you are just learning the mechanics of this process, you will feel EFT?"taking the edge off" of your problem. We have been consistently astonished at the results of EFT? and now invite YOU to experience the miracle! WHO BENEFITS FROM EFT?/H4> This invaluable tool is a perfect addition to any healing practice. Many professionals easily incorporate EFT?into their specific modalities. Gwenn has taught EFT?to physicians, nurses, alternative health care providers, psychologists and psychiatrists, therapists, dentists, chiropractors, nutritionists, mental health counselors, social workers, educators, hypnotherapists, massage therapists, reflexologists, Reiki Masters, spiritual/energy healers and ministers. Anyone interested in helping themselves or others benefits from EFT? I have taught EFT?to many lay people and am continually receiving testimonials on how it is "more than 110% effective." An elderly gentleman experiencing neuropathy used EFT?to totally eliminate his leg pain. A high level executive used EFT?to dissolve anxieties about making group presentations. And a mother used EFT?to calm her child's food sensitivities. Most people experience relief and relaxation the first time they try it, while others need a little more practice. Although EFT?is still in the experimental stage and does not work 100% of the time (what does?), it offers a new level of health and happiness without drugs, needles or negative side effects. Try it on anything! USES FOR EFT?/H4> Relief from: - Addictive Cravings, including food, cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs
