Hi Whirl, Jan and the others,
Jan has given a great description of the different levels of Reiki. So, I will give my thoughts on the differences I feel between the two energies.
Reiki is great on some levels. For instance, if a person is having difficulty dealing with childhood trauma, issues from the past, unable to let go of things from the past, relationship problems, karmic issues that I feel yet needs to be reconciled, reiki would be the answer for them. It works on a subtle level, gently healing the root cause of the problem. Reiki 2 symbols, Whirl, is also extremely effective in sending healing at a distance. My Mom lives in India and I often send healing to her. It also helps to send it to a future event, sometimes even playing a major part in helping to change the events for the better.
And, now, you might wonder, why I am still partial to Chigung? If a person comes to me with chronic back ache, cancer, MS, I know that a Chigong healing will work better and faster. Especially with clients suffering from hypertension, high BP, the results are astounding and immediate. It gives me satisfaction when I see the results in Chigung and somehow feel limited with Reiki. The other major difference is that most Chigung teachers/practitioners
including myself, insist that the person starts practicing Chigung thus making the person take responsibility for their healing. This is different from reiki where the person is not always open to being initiated into reiki.
Jan, yes; I do teach Feng Shui and have lived and worked in SEast Asia as a Feng Shui consultant. I wonder if you have confused me with someone else, since we have never talked to each other; although exchanging many emails over this board. You have been a delight to get to know and your emails are always so interesting. If you decide to pursue reiki and become a Master/ Teacher, you will not be a competitor to your friend. The world of healing and the need for it can very comfortably embrace both of you without competition. In any case this is a spiritual path and if ever you feel guided to do it, don't ever let the business side of it deter you. Many of my students are not teaching. They took the Master/ teacher classes to find completion and get the symbols to attune their families and friends.I do teach reiki a little differently from the other teachers since I have picked up a lot of valuable techniques from my Indian teachers. I was guided in meditation( nay; pestered!) to get my Master/ Teacher traing only after I had been in reiki for three months, by the higher powers. Hence I have no right to stand judgment on my students and deny them the need for knowledge. How's your Chigung going? Trust me, it will be a matter of time before you get addicted to it.
Lotsa luv to all.
