Benefits of Diffusing Essential Oils

When the great flu pandemic of 1918 was in full swing, gauze masks were worn over the face in attempts to keep from inhaling the lethal virus. It didn't work ...

The virus was many times smaller than the openings in the gauze. Many volunteers who wore those masks lost their lives, thinking they were safe, in removing the dead from homes and city morgues. They simply inhaled the virus right through their masks.

Today, we know that by diffusing a micro-fine, vaporized mist of therapeutic-grade essential oils into an enclosed atmosphere, potentially life-threatening viruses and bacteria are rendered harmless.

With the threat of super bugs growing ever more resistant to vaccines and antibiotics, diffusing essential oils makes more and more sense. It simply is the ultimate home health care defense against life-threatening organisms.

While diffusing essential oils will not stop a person from being infected outside of the home, it does create an infectious free zone of air within the home you can use to protect your loved ones. Breathing air diffused with essential oils attacks any virus or bacteria lining the respiratory tract which may have been inhaled outside of the infectious free zone. It also keeps the infection from spreading to other family members.

It may be years before every household routinely diffuses to keep the air purified and free of infectious organisms, but these devises are available today.
Diffusing:

A diffuser is a special air pump designed to disburse essential oils in a micro-fine vapor where they stay suspended for several hours to reduce airborne infectious pathogens, fungus, mold and freshen the air with natural fragrances.

Diffusing releases oxygenating molecules as well as negative ions, which kill microbes. Testing at Weber State University proves conclusively that diffusing essential oils kills life-threatening airborne micro-organisms.

How Much Oil Is Used in Diffusing?

Thicker oils such as sandalwood, will diffuse more slowly than thinner ones, such as lavender or lemon. One 15 ml bottle of sandalwood will completely diffuse within 48 hours. A 15 ml bottle of lemon will diffuse within 8 hours.

Diffuse Eternal Noel, Quiescence or Composure Other oils to diffuse on a daily basis include Lavender, Lemon, Patchouli, Ylang Ylang, Cedarwood and a host of others.

Single oils like Melaleuca Alternifolia, Rosewood and Eucalyptus Globulus are also highly effective against airborne viruses and bacteria.
Aromatherapy Diffuser Blends

Below are 6 blends that can be used in a diffuser. Create any of the blends (most are in batches of 10 or 20 drops) by adding the proper amount of essential oils to a dark-colored glass bottle. Add the appropriate number of drops from your created blend to your diffuser following the manufacturer’s instructions.

Remember...be sure and familiarize yourself using reputable sources for the safety and contraindications of all oils you choose to use! Make the smallest possible blend first to make sure you like the blend before doubling, tripling, etc. the recipe. Please remember that thicker oils (Vetivert, patchouli, oakmoss, sandalwood, benzoin) must be carefully used in nebulizing diffusers; check the instructions that come with your diffuser for specific information. The best way to handle these is to blend them with a thinner oil.

Please be responsible to find out the specific safety precautions and contraindications of the oils in the blends you choose to use.
Please note that these are posted for personal olfactory enjoyment and are not organized for any specific therapeutic or psychological benefit.

Therapeutic Benefits

Diffusing essential oils releases oxygenating molecules as well as negative ions, which reduce bacteria in the air. Our Jet Diffusor uses a special air pump custom designed to disperse the oils in a microfine vapor so they stay suspended for several hours and freshen the air with natural fragrances. The diffuser disperses oil without the heating or burning that can render the oil therapeutically less beneficial.
Electric diffusors operate very differently from candle or lamp ring diffusors. They are often considered more powerful, effective and purer. There is no heat source and so the chemical balance of the essential oil is not affected. Most commonly they have a small air pump that creates a vacuum and forces a narrow stream of air through the oil. The oil is then dispersed through a jet into a glass nebulizer. A micro-fine mist of vapor is produced. This is considered to be the most effective way to finely vaporize essential oils without harming or altering their vital components and valuable properties.
It is usually recommended that a nebulizing diffusor be run for 10 to 15 minutes. This will fill the air with microscopic particles of essential oil for two hours. In the beginning, diffuse oils for only 15-30 minutes per day. As you become accustomed to the oils and recognize their effects, you may increase the time.
I use a cool mist jet diffusor. To me, the aroma of the oils being diffused was much 'cleaner' and more pleasant than in a diffusor that heated to oils. These diffusors are more expensive than candle diffusors but, to me, the quality of the aroma is worth it.

To diffuse essential oils in your home or office is a perfect way to help you relieve tension, dispel odors, and create an atmosphere of peace and harmony. When diffusing, essential oils have been reported to support the immune system, and create a feeling of balance and well-being.

Research Findings Reveal

Research shows that with cold-air diffusing, certain essential oils may:

*

Reduce bacteria, fungus, mold, and unpleasant odors
*

Promote relaxation, relieve tension, and clear the mind
*

Help in weight management
*

Improve concentration, alertness, and mental clarity
