My experience making my own oils:

You will need:
-a small pot
-a cereal bowl, or other ceramic bowl, which when resting in the small pot, doesn't hit the bottom of it
-a carrier oil, I usually use grapeseed or olive oil
-your dried herb
-mortar and pestle
-cheesecloth
-funnel
-small (or large) bottles, for storing your oils!
-stickers or labels, just so you can tell which oil is which
-ammonia, to clean your mortar and pestle

Put some water into the pot. Don't use too much water - the amount you want, is that when the bowl is resting in the pot, the bowl DOES NOT sit in the water. You want a double-boiler effect, not direct heat! Heat water to boiling. While the water is heating, grind the herb(s) in your mortar and pestle. This way, you can ask the herb to be extra protective, or whatever you're using the resulting oil for! Check your correspondences of the herb before you use the wrong one!
Each time I use this method, I'm using about 1/8th of a cup of oil, with 3 huge tablespoons of dried herbs.
After grinding the herbs until they are pretty much pulverized, put about 1/8th of a cup of grapeseed oil in the cereal bowl, and put the bowl on the pot. Then you can dump out the ground herbs into the oil. I let the double-boiler do it's work for at least 2 hours. Allow to cool, or let it rest over night. Then, line the funnel with the cheesecloth. Pour the cooled oil into your chosen jar. Squeeze the cheesecloth bundle with all your might, into the jar still using the funnel. This way, there is less waste.
I find this method a very inexpensive way of producing quality annointing oils, and I feel that because I made it, the resulting oil has more strength for me.
Oh yeah, and to really, really clean your mortar and pestle, you can put a little bit of water into it (couple tablespoons), and add a couple more tablespoons of ammonia. Be sure to do this in a well-ventilated area, as ammonia REEKS. But, it also is a de-greaser, which is what is probably staining your mortar and pestle. For example, I've ground frankincense in my mortar, and it's come perfectly clean after soaking  it with ammonia and water overnight.

 u will need:

1 - something u want the fragrance of (rose, sage, rosemarry, whatever)

2 - an old metal pan, or contaner

3 - natural oil, olive works well

4 - cheese cloth

I dont have an exact recipe, never really used one, I learned from watching my grandmother.but this is how it is done.

Take about a handful of what ever fragrance u decide, herbs, and flower petals work great put it in a pan, next add enough oil to saturate it, kind of like a thick soup. cover it, and let it stand for at least 24 hours, or a little longr, the longer it sits, the stronger the fragrance. just dont let it mold. yuck! lol!

strain the oil, and herbs through the cheese cloth, into a clean bowl. throw the herbs, or what ever u used away. now add fresh herbs to the pan, and add the oil u just stained back into the pan as well. if need be add a little more natural oil to make sure the flowers or herbs are again saturated. cover once again, and let sit for at least another 24 hours. repeat this as many times as u like. the more times u repeat it, the stronger the odor. try it, its fun! lol!

If u want to take it a step further, u can easily turn this into bath salts, by adding to a cup of sea salt, or even epsone salts to a small portaion of your oil.stir well, and seal, makes a nice gift.!

This is really excellent Eerie. I had been thinking about this a lot recently and never got around to searching for it. Thanks.
