I think I'm going to call in the am to my doc about my feet, I havent had my feet checked since being a diabetic. I've read what to watch out for and up to now I've had no issues. So what is going on....my big toe on each foot is getting numb, like I can touch it and pinch it and not hurt. Its like its desensitized. Also a few months ago I was doing a foot excersise, just rolling my ankles and stretching my toes and flexing my feet, and I actually pulled the muscle in my big toe. It hurt soo bad and I even went to the er, I at the time didnt know how I did this, like it happened a few times even. But eventually on the 3rd time happening I realized what I was doing at the time, and now needless to say I dont flex my feet and toes that way in fear of pulling the muscle again...so bottom line is that I'm calling in the am for an appointment to see my doc re: my feet, its time! If anyone has any insight to what I just shared, please do, I like knowing I'm not the only one in my boat...have plenty of room! |

Hi Shawna, Move on over in that there boat there girl. You are not alone. I acutally started getting Neuropathy in my feet before knowing I was a diabetic. I had broken my big toe on the left foot and later the right started mirroring the feelings I thought it was sympathy for the other foot. Then some time later, could have been a year I went to doc not feeling right, figured it was my Thyroid and the med dosage was off again, but had them test me for diabetes anyway. And sure enough. So, when we were discussing it we came to the conclusion that it was neuropathy after all and had nothing to do with the break in my big toe. Hope this helps you a little. Glad you are calling for an appointment. Huggles... Debra |

Shawana..........Oh sweetie - I know the feeling or lack of I guess is more accurate.... I find it the most amazing thing that something that's numb can hurt. I have gotten some feeling back in some toes, but not all of them. I suspect I won't. But I can tippy toe to reach something again. I hope your doctor will be of help. My doctor's advise...........keep your blood sugars under control. can you hear my raspberry? That was his response to everything. Good Luck. Please let us know how it goes. Hugs, Angelbear |

Foot problems can be very bad. Neuropathy is hard to understand because yo can have bad pain where there is no injury and no pain where there is an injury. I once stepped on a roofing nail which wen through mny sandal into my foot. I didn't even know it until I saw the blood on my shoe. I had an ulcer on the bottom of my big toe and went to a wound care center for 4 years before it healed. Everytime you see the dr who cares for your diabetes you should have your feet checked. You can have an ulcer and not feel it. Bar |
