I am fairly new to taking Lantus once a day. Every once in a while I have had the problem when I pull out the needle there is a little drop of insulin on my skin. Lately this has been happening everytime I inject. I even try to leave the needle in for a few seconds before pulling it out and it still does it. What am I doing wrong? |

I don't think you're doing anything wrong. A little drop of insulin sounds quite normal to me. Have a look at your needle before you put it into your skin - you'll probably see it dribbling insulin -it's a hollow tube so liquid is bound to leak through. As long as you leave it in for about 10 seconds and you don't often get drops of blood coming out, then I'd say fine. If you are really worried, though, check with your doctor, or nurse. Hope I'm right as I've seen those little drops of insulin for years and never noticed a problem from them. |

My doc said the same thing...leave the needle in after injecting to the count of 5.... I have had the occasional "drip" too...I don't think it's anything to worry about either...but if you are concerned..ask your doc...if you do, please let us know....I'm very interested to know if it's something to concern myself with...you've peeked my curiosity now too..lol Marcia |

Thanks so much for the quick answer. It just seemed so strange that I've seen it so much the last couple of weeks and thought maybe I was doing something wrong. I am very insulin sensitive and it doesn't take much more to make me have too many lows. Cindy |

The fact that there is a drop left would not make you low, but high, if anything. I get the same droplet on the outside of the needle, too. I figure if it is a problem, it'll show up in my next bg, 2 hrs later. No big deal. Let us know if your doc tells you anything different. Mine is just glad I still check my bgs q2hrs! sheryl |

Hello "OKCHhockynut". Here is a link to help you use your opticlick pen.. www.opticlick.com click on the "video" to help you with using the insulin pen, I also think that you must count to ten after the pen has emptied and "clicked" into closed position...I am learning to use this treatment also....good Luck |

YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY AIR BUBBLE IN SYRINGE. DRAW 5-10 UNITS EXTRA INTO SYRINGE, LEAVE IN INSULIN BOTTLE, UPRIGHT, THEN SLOWLY SQUEEZE THE EXTRA BACK INTO THE BOTTLE. THERE WILL PROBABLY BE MANY SUPER FINE BUBBLES BEING INJECTED INTO THE BOTTLE. THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT COME WITH THE INSULIN TELLS U THIS. |
