Is it a pill or a needle?  I never heard of it myself...anyone else?
Congratulations on the weight you have already lost!  I'm sure that was challenging for you, and must have taken a lot of h ard work on your part.  I hope you are equally successful in losing the rest, and that it help you to maintain good control of you glucose levels.  sheryl

I Suspect you mean symlin.
Heres a link for you to read
I would think carefully about the side effects before using the drug I have read plenty of articles on this so called wonder drug and it appears that you have to surender your driving licence untill you are stable on it.
There are lots of links to check out symlin if you do a google search for it, but do avoid the links from the manufactures as they tend to be very rosey.

Thankyou for your help. My doctor goes to all the seminars for diabetes and stays on top and would not put me on something if he did not think it would  be ok. That is what I love about him. He cares and is up to date.

I'm researching the Symlin regime.  I have not started yet, as my schedule is somewhat screwy - I travel from the east coast to the west coast where I have two homes.  I'm anxious to get started.  I'm a pump user (16 yrs. and been a type 1 for over 30 yrs) and am looking foward to cutting my insulin intake in half.  I'm on a 1 to 10 carb ratio and have gained about 20 lbs in the last three years (I'm 46 yrs. old).  Knowing that insulin is a growth hormone, I'm really excited about dropping some weight by cutting my insulin useage.
If anyone has tried this, I'd like to know their experience.

I suspect you mean Symlin, and you should be aware that Symlin is NOT a new form of insulin, rather it is a synthetic version of another hormone normally secreted by the pancreatic beta cells called Amylin (which is completely absent in patients with Type 1 diabetes) and may also be of clinical benefit for patients with Type 2 who are trying to lose weight because it helps manage post-prandial glucose levels and results in a feeling of satiety (or feeling of fullness) to mitigate the tendency to overeat.  It is not a weight-loss aid, it is a hormone, and like all hormone therapy, there may be issues with dosing it properly.  For more scientific info, please read the following:
