I am wondering about where everyone keeps their insulin.  I am a type 2, on Humalog and Lantus.  My dr. has told me that I don't need to keep either one of these insulins that I am currently using in the refrigerator for up to a month.

My sugars are always running very high, and I was just wondering if that may be the reason.  I usually keep my insulin pen I am using and a bottle of Lantus on my desk at home where I take my shots every day.

Peggy , I'm on Byetta and Levimor both need to be refrigerated, when I travel I have a special pouch that has coolant gel packs in it to keep the Byetta & Lavimore cool.

My unused bottles are in the fridge. The insulin I currently use is in my pump. I keep a bottle in my purse or backpack too, usually the one that is open.

Once you open a bottle of insulin, keeping it refrigerated does nothing to prolong it's potency.

I keep my unused insulin in the refrigerator, the one i'm using I carry in my purse. My doctor said I should never leave my insulin in the car during hot days.
