Hello all! I wrote a message yesterday but was having problems signing in and now see that it didn't post. Well it's been awhile since I've been on. My little guy decided to make an early appearance - 5 weeks early to be exact. Then my computer broke down so I couldn't go online so I finally got a new one and am back on.
Well my little guy came on July 14th. I went in for my regular check-up and little did I know I was admitted to the hospital. I was totally unprepared. I had to call my husband to pack the bags and bring the car seat and all that good stuff. My amniotic fluid was low so I had to have a special test when I went for the NST testing. They gave me an IV of Petocin to see how the baby reacted to contractions. I was having 8-10 minute long contractions! The baby's heart didn't do well when they were so long so I was admitted and monitored over night. Luckily I wasn't feeling the contractions. I was having contractions all night but not on a regular pattern. They didn't want to send me home because I was still having the long contractions so they decided to break my water. Within 2 hours I was fully dialated and ready to push! Within a half hour the baby came out. He weighed in at 6 lbs and 14 oz and was 19 inches long. The doctor said had he gone full term he would have been between 10-11 lbs! Good thing he came early. We named him Lance Michael and he's perfectly healthy. I thank God for that, especially since he was so early. Lance has been getting so big. He's about 10 lbs now. I'm breast feeding which is a little tough but glad I decided to do so. The breast feeding keeps my sugars pretty low. I'm using about half the insulin I normally would use. It takes me about 2 weeks to go through 1 cartridge of insulin (300 units). So it's good in the sense that I hardly use any insulin. I'm glad I'm on the pump as it helps me control my sugars pretty good. I lost all my baby weight too, practically within a week. I was able to wear my regular clothes in a week. I think it was all water weight. I was so swollen for about 2 months that it all just came right off. It trully was amazing. I got very lucky. My stomach went flat in about 2 weeks. I also needed no pain medication after the birth - no cramping or anything. I was very blessed.
Well I just wanted to check in and let you all know that I had a healthy baby and that I too am doing well. I may not be able to check in as frequently since my time is occupied with Lance but I will get on as often as I can. I hope all of you are doing well! Talk to you all soon :)
