Well only after 5 months of being on the Clomid, yesterday 2 home tests said positive and today the blood work confirmed it...   It has been a long 6 1/2 years, but we finally are pregnant..  My fears are now on carrying the the baby.  I am type 1 since age 10, and kinda scared, cause the last 3 weeks my sugars have went up, and the doctor said that the pregnancy is probably the cause, they are adjusting my insulin and we are going from there.  I want nothing more than a happy healthy baby, and well fear keep running through my head.  Maybe this happens to everyone?  I don't know... but Iam very excited!!!!!

Lacy

Congratulations Lacy!!!!
I will be of no help to you on the subject tho, as I had all 5 of my kids before diagnosis of diabetes. Didn't even have gestational diabetes.
Take care of yourself...hope you have a great doc to get you through the pregnancy...no problems...and keeping your bs in check.
Good Luck to you and keep us up to date with you and baby.

Congratulations!  I know it's scary but there's no reason you can't carry a healthy baby. Of course there are risks but if you take care of yourself you should be fine.  Make sure you are seeing a high-risk OB and you absolutely have to watch your diet.  Your sugars will continue to rise as the pregnancy progresses.  For me my diet had to constantly change.  Stuff I could eat during the first 3-4 months of my pregnancy were totally out of question later on.  My sugars would sky rocket if I ate them....stuff like milk, cereal, bread, etc.  But I could eat a ton of pasta and was fine.  Try to eat more protein.  I was sent to a dietician so maybe you will be too.  I'm going to try and get pregnant with #2 this year so maybe we'll be pregnant at the same time for a little while.  A little sacrifice for 9 months is a small price to pay for a healthy child.

Michelle :)

Hi Lacy, Just wanted to say congratulations and wish you a happy, healthy pregnancy.  You can do it!!  Try not to stress yourself out too much, just have confidence in yourself.  Keep us posted and enjoy every minute of it.  Hopefully "some day" I will be in the same boat as you.   Best of luck to you and your hubby.   Susan

Hey! Congratulations on your pregnancy! I haven't posted on here in a long, long time so just catching up on some reading.
My child is just over a year now, and absolutely wonderful. They are so worth everything we have to go thru to get there!! LOL.
In my pregnancy my sugars started off getting low all the time, then started to rise and rise and kept on rising until I gave birth. By the end of my pregnancy I was taking over 20 units of Humalog for just one meal, plus long acting insulin. I started having to wake up at 3 am to take even more. It was grueling, checking sugars all the time and traveling 3 hrs every week to see a team of special drs and a dietician. Then when I had her my sugars dropped dramatically the next day, to where I hardly had to take anything because I was breastfeeding, and it takes lots of energy apparently to do that!! I was told by the drs that its very normal for your sugars to fluncuate like that, its just ultra important to keep an eye on them.
And I'm glad I did. She is now a very energetic healthy child. Now I worry about passing diabetes on, but I try not to think about it too much.

Sorry all, it's been a hectic 2 months.   I miscarried on August 14th, at 12 weeks.  I then got really sick, due to the miscarriage and my sugars.  I got back on my feet and was doing ok, and then I got pnemonia.  I think I am finally better now.  My body was so weak and my sugars were playing havic, it hasn't been good.  So now we are planning on trying again, but got to get my body stronger and my sugars are better, but they need some more work.  Thanks all for all the support and thoughts..  I plan on being on here more, now that I am back in action, as you can say...

Love Lacy

Thank you all for your support!  It's greatly appreciated!!  It's been hard, to loose a child you bonded with for only a short time, but it was our child.

Much love to you all!
