My name is Lyna and I'm 26 years old. I'm pregnant for the second time with no living children. I'm a Type 1 diabetic, diagnosed with and incompetent cervix, and possibly gastroparesis. All my health issues are driving me crazy! Being on bedrest is driving me crazy as well. Is anybody on here going through this similiar situation? |

hi Lyna..... I'm Cheryl.... been T1 for 33 yrs... and waaaay past my time for having kids....I'm 51. I have had two kids..... one living. How long have you been diabetic and how far along are you in your pregnancy? I'm not sure what an incompetent cervix is but I know what it sounds like which would make me believe that is why you're on bedrest. I belong to another board and there was just a girl there that was on complete bedrest like for the last 5 months of her pregnancy.... they thought that she was going to have twins...... she went through so much trying to give the babies the best opportunity to get as strong as they could. She finally did make it and she ended up having triplets..... her drs. never saw the third baby because he was so tiny..... There's a member here, Mikalis75 that just had a baby girl gosh, pretty close to a year ago now......and she is a very beautiful and healthy little girl. Mikalis checks this board from time to time so maybe she'll see your post and add some info for you...... she's on a pump, I believe. Anyway, just wanted to say hello and welcome you...... take care, hon and let us know how you're doing. Peace,Cheryl |

Welcome, Lyna! Sorry you are on bedrest when you are so yong...everything in you probably wants to be active and healthy, and you are saddled with these health issues. I was younger than you when I had my first mescarriage. 30 when I had my second. If your ob-gyn confined you to bed, you have a serious choice to make. Listen or take your chances. Has your doctor mentioned a procedure where they temporarily close (suture) your cervix, to maintain the pregnancy? The baby s delivered by C section, and the stitch removed. Just an idea I heard about. Hope things work out for you! HUGS! sheryl |

I'm currently 23 weeks pregnant.... thats kind of ways to go. I've been diabetic for about 9 years but was recently diagnosed with type 1 almost 2 years ago. my cervix was diagnosed incompetent at 20 weeks; this was the same week I found out that I was having a girl. The doctors said my cervix was too short. They had to do emergency surgery on me by stitching up my cervix so that the baby won't come too early. |

Well, I spoke too soon it seems. I started spotting yesterday, and now am on complete bedrest....or supposed to be anyway. My dh's job keeps him away from home constantly, and we live somewhere where I have no family or friends. And I have a two year old to tend too. I am feeling so frustrated right now. Dh got called out, its supper time, I'm 9 weeks and bleeding, and don't what to do really. Eventually if dh doesn't get back soon I will just have to get up to feed my chiild. I am starting to feel disheartened with the whole thing already. |
