Well this weekend I finally started pumping on my new Animas pump. I actually got it a couple weeks ago and was trained on the 9th. I must say I love the look of it. It's pretty easy to use though very different from my Disetronic pump. The infusion sets (inset) are a lot different than my old ones in the sense that I've never had a self inserting set. I definitely need to get the hang of it but it is painless which I love. My only downside so far, which I posted in another discussion, is the fact that I can't prefill insulin cartridges and that I need to change my insulin every 2 days or so because the insulin doesn't mesh well with the plastic cartridges. I hate filling cartridges. With my old pump I would prefill a whole month's worth (3 cartridges of 300 units each) and then change every 10 days when I ran out - I had glass cartridges. So this I will definitely have to adapt to. But so far so good. The menu prompts are easy to follow and the screen is easy to read/see. But I really think I like the look more than anything else. It doesn't look "medical" to me. Wish me luck!
OK< there is your answer. See my other post and note that Animas reps are told to tell you to toss things after two days.
You can fill your cartridge full and use every last drop and I doubt it will cause you any problem at all. The last rep I had from Animas told me only to fill the cartridge half way, and do a new one every two days and I could tell it was just to make money.
