Have a question on the warrentee on the insulin pump.  What happens when your warrentee runs out on the insulin pump?  Are you able to get a new pump due to the warrentee has ran out, or are you stuck with the one you have?  Hows does the insurance work with this, or how do they react?

I believe it's a 4 year warranty with all pumps.  Once the warranty runs out your insurance should cover a new pump.  That's what I was told anyway, but I tried the OmniPod after the warranty ran out on my first pump - OmniPod screwed me over on the "trial period" and now I'm stuck for 4 more years using my old first pump without a warranty until the OmniPod warranty runs out.  Now I'm crossing my fingers for the next 4 years that nothing happens to my old pump.

I have only have to send my pump back one time, due to I was put through the MRI machine.  I was given a pump by the Diabetic Educator till another one came.  I would have been screwed if mine had stopped working completely due to it doesn't take much for my blood levels to rise.

I look on the internet and people are selling their old pumps without warrentee to people.  I sit back and just think how dumb this is.  If it still works, why not keep it as a backup in cause your other one decides to take a vacation.

Due to my last incident without the pump, my diabetic educator gave me her's as a stand by.

Holly it might be worth asking your pump supplier for an extended warranty. I did read somewhere that an extra 2 yrs can be given for a small fee.
This might have applied to the UK though as can't remember where I saw it.

My warranty was up last summer.
Four years.
My doctor advised not to even try pushing paper through the insurance co because the warranty was not totally gone.  Once it was, he filled out papers for me. I still got the runaround.  The HMO said your pump is working and when it dies, you can quickly obtain a new pump.  I sent an appeal stating no, you cannot obtain one quickly.  It takes about a month.
And I didnt want to go on shots.  My appeal of the HMO denial (Yes, it was first denied) crossed in the mail with another letter which was an acceptance letter.
Sheesh.
It sure takes persistence.
And yes, I kept my old pump and some supplies for that pump on hand for any future breakdowns.
