I meant to add that it is 12th century England. The  main characters are Tom, Ellen, Aliena,and Jack.

thank you Sherry     that will be 1 benefit of the book club     we can hopefully help each other remember the exact titles and authors of great books we have read    yes that is a very good book     did he also write Black Hawk Down? I remember reading another great book by him completely different

Your welcome Tabby.  Follett also wrote Eye of the Needle with was a big hit. Now I can't remember if I read that one  or not... He's had 5 others as well, I'll have to do a search and list them. They were probably ALL good !

I agree... I know I read Jackdaws, and enjoyed it. I wish i could remember all the books, but I've  read so much through the years I've forgotten what I've read and what I haven't. 
 
I had the info on Pillars of the Earth, because it was still sitting in our bookcase. I was able to give those names of the characters from the jacket !
