when I got married I could not boil water my grandmother and aunts were great cooks and I never had any interest in learning but I had 2 things in my favor I knew what good cooking tasted like and I was a book worm I bought Betty Crocker's picture Cook Book this was a large loose-leaf book this book taught me to be a very good cook when my kids were growing up I think I may have made almost all of the recipes my 6ft6in son paid it the highest compliment when he was a teen-ager he said "mama when I leave home -I want your cookbook" the back has been off for a long time the pages are held together with yarn but I still make rolls from scratch to take to Thanksgiving dinners at my sons houses and I make merengue for lemon merengue pies for their birthdays from its recipes
I used the Betty Crocker bound book, for beginners I think! Even though I cooked since High School. BEEN thinking about reducing all the other cookbooks I have collected and start one with just the recipes I have been using that the family likes! (For when my boys move out LOL!) Already cleaned out my index file of recipes!
