Hi Dan, and welcome to the group!
I posted on an earlier thread...but didn't realize that you were in fact diagnosed with retinopathy.  Have you undergone laser treatments?  If the laser has caused scarring, there is a surgery called a vitrectomy, which removes some of the blood from the vitreous humor (the liquid part inside your eye).  That surgery can help remove some of the "floaters" and secure a patially detached retina.  I hope your doctor has discussed these options with you.  I have been through many MANY procedures on my
eye(s).  As I said in my other post, feel free to e-mail me if you want more info about the surgeries and what I went through with the eye problems.  My addy is listed.  Nice to meet you, and good luck!  sheryl

hi sheryl nice to meet you also. thank you for welcoming me into the group. yes i also had many surgeries on my left eye about 16. the last one was to remove a film that had formed over the retina caused by all the lasers i had on that eye. my eyesite in the left is about two fingers at four feet. the doctors said that was all they could for my lefteye. about a month ago my right eye started giving me trouble; woke up one morning and coulld not see anything out of my right eye. since that day i have been out of work and seeing 4 different doctors to try and figure out wats going on. went to a nuero optomologist and he said that my optic nerves were swollen. i am scheduled for an mri of the brain on 9-20 to rule out a brain tumor. the doctor said its either a brain tumor or optic neuritis. anyway thats were i stand at this point. thank you for responding to my e-mail. have a nice day.  dan.

Dan so sorry to hear about your complications affecting your eye sight. I'll share my experience about Retinopathy, 15 years ago I had laser treatments for Retinopathy. It helped retain my sight but not until 1998 when I learned from an educator how to have tight control, did my eyesight improve, greatly. I don't know where you live but perhaps an educator can help you retain your sight in that one eye. Here is the address to their website: www.aadenet.org
