If anyone asks  (and they won't, because no one really gives a rat's butt!)  you can tell them this.  The difference between T1 and T2 is not in the age of onset.  The difference is that T1s have no ability to produce insulin AT ALL.  In T2, the body has insulin, it just has lost the ability to use it properly.  The treatments differ because of the underlying cause.  T1s must take insulin to live.  A T2 may be able to get by with diet and exercise.  Or oral meds.  Or may need additional insulin as well.  Simplistic...but then most folks don't need to know more than that.  Now if YOU as a diabetic want to leartn more, there are tons of websites, and you can research to your hearts content!
