i am about to swap my mixtard 30/70 twice a day to novorapid three times and lantus once a day. with this i will have to carbohydrate count, but im not sure how many units of insulin i'd take to each carb.can anybody help?

This seems to keep coming up on the boards.
Your CDE or Endo should have (be giving) you a scale to help get you started on this.  One unit per X grams of carbs, and one unit per number of units needed to bring down a high BG.
I hope they are helping you because you really need a starting point and then a way to analyze your results.
There are diagrams and charts and formulas they use to figure this out, so hopefully they will work with you on this.
I know no one would encourage you to do this without help until you have been doing it for a little while, then you make your own changes.

Most people seem to start off at 10 carbs/1 unit of insulin then adjust as needed.

I agree. Different people use different ratios according to their body.  I personally use 15 grams of carbs per unit of insulin.  It's just something you'll have to play with a little to find out what works for you. But I believe it generally is about 10 grams of carbs per unit.

i  agree  ......i  use  15  grams  of  carbs   per  unit  of  nova  rapid.....you  should  really  see a  dietician...she  will  help  you   with  your  carb and  ratio
