I noticed bright lights bother me.  Sometimes it seems a flouresant light is flickering all around me. Yesterday I was in walmart and all the lights bothered me.  My vision seemed distorted. I thought the anti anxiety pill I take at night was effecting my vision, then I realized I was low.  Wondered how everyone else's eyes are when low?

Just about all of you know I have very little eyesight.  But when I'm starting to go low, I get bright flashes of light.  Very similar to the aura I get prior to a migraine headache.  The flashes are like the streaks you might see while viewing light through a prism...sharp, bright, and highly colored.  Weird, huh?  Later, it turns to splotches of black.  By this time, I'm testing, then shoveling either candy, glucose tabs, or sugar water into my mouth.  The strangest thing is, even if I close my eyes, I still get the flashes!  HUGS!  sheryl

Wow you guys ,thats scary. I haven't noticed any changes in my eye sight while having a low and I've got down in the 30's..just the feeling of getting very weak, light headed and shaky.

Sheryl...I'm with you there....both with a migrane and a hypo.  My eyesight when going low also gets jittery....like if I'm looking at something I see it and then I see it again but everything isn't in the same place...time wise it's like my eyes shut off for a split second and then it comes back.  Like a really fast strobing.  Maybe that's what you were talking about Sun, when you said it was like everything was flickering around you.  Did you notice if it went away after you came out of the hypo or did you have it for awhile?  As soon as I start coming up, my vision corrects itself.   See ya.  Peace,Cheryl

Gelsey,  I use to see pac man.  It was sort of donut shaped.  Now I see this flickering light or light that just bothers me.  Maybe things change the longer we have diabetes.

Wow. When I get a low it feels like I am drunk..Nothing about the lights really bother me unless I get a migrane then lights really hurt my eyes. Its like I just cant keep myself focused on anything.

This doesn't happen to me every time I go low, but it did happen one time when i was waiting to pay in a Walmart or some other similar huge store.  My vision just starting going blank on me!  It was very scary but I knew it was a low because I had been low earlier and when I shop I often go low.  My son had to finish the transaction as the glucose tabs started to work to bring my vision back.  This is very scary and I am glad it doesn't happen all the time.  It must be something about the lighting in Walmart.
