Hello all,

Thought I'd introduce myself more. My name is Cherise. I'm 23 years old. I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in October 2000. I have seen so many different doctors because I have moved so much that I lost track of them all. Besides the type 1 diabetes I'm also on medication for mental health issues which keeps me from being able to work.

I currently work with a financial coordinator to get my medication and supplies for my diabetes due to lack of insurance. I'm married but my husband's insurance has that pre-existing condition wait.

I'm a full time college student at University of Phoenix studying psychology. I hope to one day be able to work again and help other with the same mental health issues I have. Currently I am on a 34 day leave of absence to take care of some problems.

Currently I'm on Humalog at a 2u for 10gms carb ratio plus sliding scale (3 u for every 40 over 150) and 30 u Lantus morning and 34 u Lantus bedtime. I'm also on Lithium 900 mg total (450 mg morning and 450 mg night), Zoloft 100 mg morning, and atenenol (panic attacks) 25mg as needed. Luckily I have help through both manufacturers of my insulins, the generic zoloft is only $6 at walmart, atenenol is $4 at walmart, and the lithium is a little more pricey at $30. Hopefully when my husband switches jobs he will be able to get better insurance.

Well ask anything you'd like.
Cherise

I've seen you posting today...and you've made yourself right at home.  GREAT!  We love to see now members adding their voice to the discussions!  How did you get your on line name...you said to ask!  LOL!
Thank you for sharing your health issues.  Many folks in the group face similar issues.  Moving your home is very stresful, and the changes in location, food, and schedule are challenging for anyone, but especially a diabetic.
Looks like you have a good handle on your diabetes and dosing, too.
Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.  Wonderful to see you are posting!  WELCOME!  sheryl

Welcome to the group or family as I tend to think of us all here Cherise! It is so wonderful to see you jumping into threads already honey... saw you on the January Signin and that is wonderful.. thank you!

There are many here dealing wth more than one health issue so you will feel right at home soon if not already. Hope to get to know you more thru your postings.. Any questions just ask and we will do our best to share our experience with you...
of course don't change anything without your docs advice... we are just here to support and share what we have done in the same situation...

If you could do us one favor please?? Could you please use a larger Font Size? Many of our members have poor eye sight due to diabetes and/or age...
Thank you very much.
Welcome again and as always,
keep smiling,
Cuddles/Kathy
