You are wrong. They did not change the term from JD to Type 1. Both terms are used today and have been for a long time. The difference is the exception of the age that the person is diagnosed. Juvenile diabetes means that you are diagnosed as a child not as an adult.
I have been a juvenile diabetic / type 1 for 35 years.
The age of diagnosis determines whether or not you are a jd. Type 1 means that you treat the disease with insulin and always have.
