Just a little update on me...
Last week I went my to opthamalogist (sp?) for my annual checkup. He found a couple of spots on my left eye. He did about 12 zaps with the laser. Everytime I see him, he says he's always amazed at how my eyes are in such good condition for a person who's had diabetes (type 1) for 33 years. Makes me feel good to hear that. Then yesterday, I had my annual appointment with my optomotrist. Just a little change in my lenses. $572 of a change! Since I'm on the computer most of the day, he recommended just strengthening my prescription and lowering my computer screen so that I'm looking slightly down at it. Right now it's up on a shelf on my desk and I have to tilt my head back everytime. My neck is getting lots of exercise!
He also took a picture of my retina. Really cool. So I got to see the veins and beginnings of aneurysms, etc.and he pointed out the healing/results of last weeks' laser work. Next year when I go again, he'll compare the picture taken then to this years. Kind of like having a base mammogram, lol. Let me say that seeing the picture of my retina really gave me incentive to keep my blood sugars normal. And to stay away from secondhand cigarette smoke since that weakens the blood vessels in the eyes. I don't smoke - never have - but almost everyone else does where I work. They don't smoke in the office, thank goodness.
Not too much else is new with me. Just thought I'd give everyone an update - I feel like I haven't been here at all lately.
Take care everyone
Chris
