Have to ask re: : "Alcohol is EVENTUALLY broken down into sugar. " Not if the drink has zero carbs, like a rum and diet coke, or whisky, or vodka. Until about 6 months ago, I could have 4-5 rums/diet coke with NO fluctuation in blood sugar overnight. You can ingest calories (as alcohol has) without them raising your sugar levels.

Under normal conditions, blood glucose is not affected by the moderate use of alcohol. Alcohol cannot be changed into glucose or blood sugar, and does not need insulin for metabolism. However, if an alcoholic drink contains sugar or is taken with sugar-containing mix, the blood sugar level will be affected.
I never had a problem with raised sugar from alcohol....I can't be the ONLY one who's had this happen?
