I've been an Insulin Dependent Diabetic (Type 1) for over 33 years. My control has been awful in the last year, not logical at all, and needing higher dosages of insulin than I've ever taken before.
Recently I changed doctors and she prescribed me a Type 2 drug - Janumet, in addition to my Lantus and Humalog injections.  It was explained to me that long term Type 1 Diabetics can also develop insulin resistance.
The results have been amazing and immediate! I've been having excellent blood sugars and already needed to lower my Lantus dosage.
Janumet is a mixture of the Type 2 drugs: Sitaglipton 50mg and Metformin 500mg. I take one tablet at noon.
I would be pleased to hear of other Type 1's that have added this drug to their injection regiment or who have been treated for insulin resistantance.
                                                                          Thanks, Rebecca
