Morning
I take Niaspam for Blood Pressure and Total CL control. It bounces my BS. Right now I am having a flushing attack, feels like I am on fire. Have been on Niaspm for over 2 monthes and should not be having these. The doctor tells me that I will get use to it. I beleive that when BS is above 105 Fasting I get one of these attack and they last around hour. He liked what it did to my Total CL and the ratio of good to bad CL.

One other side effect is that I feel cold, something new for me. I normal sleep on top of the cover with the temp set at 65.
Now 5 covers to stay warm also 72 is cold and 74 is to hot.

Can not take asprin because I am taking meloxicam for the RA in my neck. I take it 30 minutes before the niaspam to help control the flushing.

Niaspam lowers folic acid which has to be corrected. More carbs is the easy way. Maybe I didn't eat enough free type vegetables. I have notice the flushing attacks seem to happen when I eat high fat and high protein meals.

Any info would be appricated.

Keep the up all the good works.
Smile
Eugene

Hi Eugene,
I am on 50mg of Cozar a day for BP. I have had no side effects and my BP is excellent. Maybe you should check with your doctor.

Dear Eugene,

I was on that medication and found out I was allergic to it.  My side effects were a little more troublesome.  I had the flushing and my skin felt like I had laid in Sand for many days it was grainy feeling and I was a red as a tomatoe and could hear my blood rushing through my ears.  I told my doc about it and took me off of it immediately.  I am now on two types of BP meds I take Caduet and Diovan and my blood sugars are almost normal and my blood pressure is finally getting lower also.

I also found out Lisinopril gave me some reactions too.

Lori

Hi Lori
Thanks for the info about Caduet and Diovan. I can not take either because of muscle pain and spasisms. I had a head injury in 61 and had problems with lots of med. My doctor thinks it something I ate. Looks like summer sausage maybe the problem.
Thanks again
Eugene
