My A1C went from 14 to 8 in 3 months. Is this normal or do people usually do better on meds? I am on 2 metformin in the am and 2 metformin in the pm. I am also on blood pressure meds and cholestrol meds. I still feel rotton most of the time and am trying not to check myself so often. I ran out of strips and found out the insurance has a limit.
     Thanks for all your help.

Usually, T2s get tired with testing so often, once they get in a pattern of good sugars.  My dad only chooses one meal a day, tests before and 2 hours after.  He tires to do a diffent meal, varying a few times a week.  But do what your doctor suggests.  Everyone is different, and you need to do what feels right for you.  Could you ask your doctor to write you a prescription for more strips?  Most insurance will pay for what your doctor prescribes.
A drop like yours is EXCELLENT!  Because the A1c is roughly indicative of an average, it is more challenging to drop it very quickly.  If your sugars remain under control, it wil improve.  But the improvement you have shown is GREAT!  And it takes time to adjust to a proper blood sugar.  When the sugar drops, it is almost like a drunk coming off a binge.  Your body has gotten use to a certain level of sugar, that was doing damage to your body.  It will take some time to adapt.  You may have headaches and feel shaky from time to time.  It's normal.  Blood pressure meds CAN make you dizzy, and cholesterol meds (as well as metformin) can give tummy troubles.  If you check the side effects on the infl sheet that came with the meds (of check on the net) you will see a list of side effect. If you really feel bad, ask you doctor if you could be having side effects, and if he can prescribe an alternative.
Congratulations on the better glucose numbers!   Are your BP and Cholesterol down as well?  Because they both can be helped with improved sugars.   HUGS!   sheryl
