Hello My name is Michelle and have been diagnosed with type 2 about 3 weeks ago.  The doctor has me on metformin and glipizide.  Am finding this all very overwhelming and depressing.  I am 45 years old and its hard to wrap my mind around a whole new way of eating and cooking etc.  My family is very supportive and trying to be helpful but they are driving me crazy too.  Feel like they are looking over my shoulder constantly.  What are you eating? what are you drinking?  those kinds of things.   Wish thye would let up a little.  kwim
Have been learning alot reading posts.
Michelle

welcome... the is so much information if you just read back through threads and of course if you have specific questions please ask. We all believe your doctor is your prime source but all here  are willing to help.

It is totally overwhelming, at first, but then you adjust, and so will your family.  I find that this site is a blessing, for me.  I try to check in daily with my blood sugar, and there are so many smart and supportive people here, as well.

When I was diagnosed, I wasn't even sure what diabetes was all about.  I think you should learn as much as you can about diabetes and see what works for you.  And do what works best for your body.  I tried not to let  other people affect what I should eat and do and stick to what is best for me.

Talk to the family They probably don't realize that it is bugging you. They are probably suffering too and don't know what to do. They obviously care deaply for you. Take care.
