Good evening everyone,  I was sitting here thinking about what I do for myself when I do a good job with my walking or exercising.  My question to everyone is-- what do you do to reward yourself??  and how often do you reward yourself??   Just wondering!!  Thanks have a good day/night!!

Connie - this is a great question. I still don't have an answer! For me, rewards for me often involved food. So I have put rewards on the back burner so to speak. I think rewards are important to motivate some people. I'm thinking of my children as they were going up. Some were motivated and some were not. I am very interested in what people have to say.

I always think of exercise as its own reward. (too Pollyanna?).  It's better than housecleaning!!!  It keeps me out of the kitchen (jogging to the fridge doesn't count as aerobics!).  Often after a good workout (I do treadmill and weights) I'm a little low so I'll have some fruit.  Not a reward as much as therapy! lol  Keep up the good work!

I had a rotten morning, and I thought about your question again today.  What would make me feel better...what...what?  After my work out it came to me!!!  A long hot bath with bubbles, exfoliating scrub, and self tanning mousse (you could substitute some scented lotionn or cream if you're not into tanning).  I felt great, and looked clean and shiny! lol

Actually, sheryl, I didn't think your response was polyanna at all. I have to agree. I also think if feels really good to make a goal. But it's funny, I too have been thinking about this all day. Your response got me to go downstairs and finish the movie I was watching. And that means I am cycling. My goal is to do three sets of 30 mins a week, but this week I did 4 sets. LOL So today - I walked for an hour, cycled for 30 and tonight I will gazele for 30. LOL

Good morning everyone,  thank you for answering this post...I have choose a reward that well is just to make me feel good at this point in time, and to help me remember that I am worth the extra effort I am putting into myself... I have begun to buy flowers once a week for my apartment.  I have even made a flower fund so that I have the money to buy them...Silly, yeah maybe but they make me smile... I also have begun to buy stickers...and there are billions of them out there and I put one on my calendar each day when I make my daily goal... I am not sure about whether to do little rewards weekly or do something really special after reaching my daily goal for 30 days???  Any ideas which way I should go???  I know the rewards system may seem silly but it also helps me to remember that I am worth the extra time..  well enough of this book so everyone have a great day!!

Connie,
I keep a daily food journal and I use stickers when I have kept my goal for the day. My sister puts a sticker on her bedroom mirror for every pound she loses, it works as a reminder to her of her goal and also as to how far she has came.

Go Lean,

I have read a few of your posts and want to thank you for taking the time to do so. How inspiring to hear since March you have lost 50lbs. I was dg in April and lost 20lbs now I have gained it all back.  So back on the horse agian.  What a great idea for stickers on the calender, not silly, what a great way to track progress.  I often decorate with daisy's - I think they are such a friendly flower.

Thanks, Again and good luck!!!!!!!!!

Thanx for reminding us about healthy motivation. I agree with the idea of that nice bubbly bath and those wonderful moisturizers. My tan is permanent so I'll bypass the mousse. A nice finish I would like to add is a hot cup of herbal tea and a chick flick, a book or a relaxing magezine.
