I stopped coloring my hair about 1 year ago and it is natural...I call it platinum, cause it is valuable and I earned every strand . My hubby and family did not think I'd last 3 months without coloring it. So far I am Ok with it. Do you ladies color your hair or are you au natural? |

Looking old has never been a concern of mine. I do color my hair because I love the blond streaks. At my age I'm glad to be here and in reasonable good health and I'm able to do what I love to do. A lot of women think that looks are most important thing in their life. They are missing out on so much. Thinking about how long it takes on a daily basis to struggle to look a certain way is a waste of valuable time.... to me. I think the way I think is the reason I don't go to luch with women. Conversation is always boring.I know I'm generalizing but that's what's here in Florida........ |

I get highlights about 3 times a year. I'm fortunate in that I inherited good genes and have no grey yet. My mother has always had very dark hair and it is now streaked with random white hair. I agree with DarcAnn in that that it makes me feel better, and that's what counts. Regardless of what others may think about a woman coloring her hair, if it gives you a little lift, why not? Let's face it, we all get tired of that same old face staring back at us in the mirror every day. Kind of nice to see a change once in a while. I do love the look of totally white or silver hair though.. |

Your gonna chuckle at this one. Aghhh some of the silly idea's I have tried just to get some youth back! I see all the 20-30 yr olds with their long beautiful streaked hair, blonde highlights etc. I wanted to grab that era back. So off to the magician I went LOL. I told my hair dresser (whom had that kind of hair also) to do me, whatever it takes to remove about 20 years. My hair length was almost to my shoulders. I don't have thick hair, its thin, brown w/red tint. I told her I wanted very light brown hair with blonde high lights. She whipped up her miracle blend and began. Lots of foil around my hair, clip clip clip for style, I almost had heart failure when I looked in the mirror for final results. I had THE hair I had asked for. Did it match my face??? NO lol. All the h/dressers agreed, it looked great. Told me: "You will get adjusted and love it". My family took a couple double takes when looked at me .... they just hesitated to say anything , knowing negative would have ticked me off. LOL the old rule: "if you can' t say nothing nice, don't say nothing at all" ! So ... they didn't . Co-workers thought it looked great! (or were they just being nice?) I kept up with this for about 3 months. Costly for touch-ups. Finally realized, this isn't doing it for me. I went to Wallyworld and bought color and back to ME, again. The family said "Wow, nice mom, don't do the blonde thing again" LOL. Natural I shall be, gray trickling in and all. |

Last week I got real gutsy and cut my hair REAL SHORT!! It's almost like Jaime Lee Curtis cut. And I got rid of the brown color with blonde highlights. I kept my real color with blonde frosting through it. The gray just blends in now. And eventually as the gray takes over, I won't do the frosting anymore....it will be natural! I love this cut!!!!!! I don't have to do a thing to it and everyone says, once they got use to me with short hair, said it suits me and my personality...sassy!! I had hair done the middle of my back 6 months ago and cut it to about my chin line with the blonde highlight streaks. So this cut wasn't too too drastic! I am proud of my age and my spark....it shows now! |

Love long hair when older but with a long braid down the back...I can't have mine long it gets too messy for me and I don't give a hoot what other people are doing. I do what I want to do. I earned that right lolol |

I am quite proud of my lovely soft silver hair... it started going when I was in my mid 20s... it was very dark brown when I was younger and it started streaking like frosting... now it is about 90% silver with a bit of dark underlayer... I tried various styles over the years... and while it was very pretty when I let it go long... it was so baby fine that it was often a mess to keep up with.... I have an extremely short style now, yeah I guess the Jamie Lee Curtis style describes it as well as anything... buzz cut around the ears showing off my multiple ear piercings and buzzed up the back keeping me very cool in the humidity of Richmond... maybe an inch and a half on the top... it is quite becoming and so easy to deal with... I just wash it and wipe a towel over it... then style it with my fingers... and I am done... it looks great all the time and goes well with my facial structure... I get it cut every 4 to 6 weeks... |

Welllllllll, I decided (after my hairdresser nagged at me) to cover the gray and go red. But the gray showed quickly soooooooo I decided to get a gold foiling done. The gal who foiled it said I would be having a lot of colors in my hair, but she did it anyway and it came out great, the gray blends with the gold highlights and the natural reddish brown. I have been away from work for a few days and I am anxious to see if they notice when I return tomorrow. My hubby was not too pleased with the red, but has not commented on the new look so he must like it, lol! |

CC- My hair is resting on my shoulders and probably always will because its what I prefer. Just like I will always have my hair dyed over my years because I like it better that way. I have some gray when the roots start growing out and thats to much for me. LOL! Shammy- That sounds nice to me. Let us know how others like it. |

In my younger days I was a darker brown with auburn highlights [NATURAL TOO] then I dabbled with plum and dark brown and black. then onto mahogany . settled on burgundy for a few years then nothing . and all the silver grey came out . with the little brown I had left . great comments on my new cut and color. not one said otherwise. and they are outspoken. So my grey/silver is now blonde /brown with lighter grey where the silver was. so back to blond foils now . and its great to see the years peel back off the grey . My DH loved the blondes . but never saw it on me . I had blonde foils for my daughters wedding and it so aged me "younger ". and my daughter who was fair to mousy went the opposite and went brown but looked older . go blonde girls if you can . dark brown can still take the blonde foils. |
