After watching all the makeover shows and MANY MANY years of taking kids to get haircuts, but doing my own...... I finally went to a "Fantastic Sam's" and had my long hair cut, colored and dyed! Guess what? It actually looks pretty great! I was shocked! Has anyone else ever gotten a make over? What were the results? Funny, terrific? Are there any other Scardy Cats like me......? Thanks for sharing, Gena |

I've had someone else color and cut my hair for years. I had my first pedicure though last summer and am hooked on them now. LOL! I hate when I get my hair cut because NO ONE EVER does what I tell them. LOL! I am so used to it now but it doesn't make it any easier. We all deserve our day out to the salon to be pampered. |

Sure, I think about getting madeover ALL the time. The big trick is KEEPING the makeover. My hair grows fast so that means I'll be going back & forth to the salon all the time(which I can't afford). As far as makeup goes.....I'm a WhyBother Gal,lol.I don't have time & I hardly go out. Therefore, I'm just an Earthy Diva . |

I have long straight hair. My xdil's aunt is my hairdresser. I usually go once every 3 months and have it cut (trimmed), the little gray covered and some highlights put in it. I pull it back in a long braid everyday so styling isn't necessary. I use MaryKay cosmetics and not much of it. I'm pretty earthy and "real" (as my kids call me) The one thing I do for myself on a monthly basis is nails done, pedicure and mustache wax. It takes a couple of hours but the relaxing feeling can't be beat! My few hours of pampering! Robyn |

I am exactlly like Robyn.. long straight hair. I cant wear brades though. No matter what I put in my hair it gives me a head ache. so I just wear it down. I get it trimmed about once every three months also. I use Mary Key cosmetics and not much of it also. I however, do my own nails. I do enjoy a good pedicure though. No waxing... I get my pampering at the gym. After my work out I spend an hour in the locker room. a few minutes in the sauna, then a shower. Then i sit in my special big towel and rub body lotions all over me. I do my shaving if needed.. I blow dry my hair, brush my teeth, and put on my makeup. Makes me feel so good when I leave. PJ |

I have had long straight hair for maybe 25 years until I got it cut this week. It was really a new experience for me, it is still shoulder length so not too short. I have used the box color and highlight kits, and to be honest I think they look as good as the job I got at the salon. Of course when you do it yourself, you can get exactly what you want. The cut I got was great! I am a little frustrated because today I couldn't get it to do what it did at the salon :( . My daughter assures me she can help me tomorrow! (I am having visions of being in the nursing home and having to depend on her to come and do my hair. ) I am going to try to begin to do more things for myself like the gym, and some of the other things you girls have mentioned. It does feel pretty wonderful! Gena |

For years now, I've been wanting to get my hair cut like Katherine Willows on CSI.But I just can't find a good pic of her to show the stylist what I want. |

Thats great Gena! Go for it! Let your daughter help you and learn from it. Also when you get your hair styled and you like it have the hair stylists explain in detail how they do it, they will help you learn it. Good luck wiht hte Gym. Go for it! Its fun to get out and do things for us gals. |

Im 46 and my hair has started to go grey...I was always one who said..I will not dye my hair.. The stage it is in right now though it looks dead and lifeless and it makes everything about me look tired. On Christmas Eve my younger daughter was home so I asked her to dye my hair for me.. One of those 6 week things where it will mostly wash out on its own.. WEll First of all I loved the intimacy of my daughter dying my hair...that was so lovely..and second of all I love what I see when I look in the mirror now.. My eyes had been looking washed out too and now that there is colour in my hair my eyes look alive again and psychologically that makes me feel more alive.. Since then I have started working out moer and have set a weight loss goal for myself for this year...go figure!!! You must inderstand this is a huge step for me as I dont wear make up and I pride myself on being " natural" My biggest fear is that I now have entered the world of women who need to fear..."roots" |

kadijah, My story is very near to yours. It is amazing what a simple hair makeover can do! I have also set a weight loss goal and feel so much better about myself. How can such a small change boost our self-confidence so much ? I am anxious to see if I can maintain this look and reach my goals. Good luck to you. Gena |

I keep my hair about three inches below my shoulders and love the length...easy to wear up or down. I do highlight it and have to watch the roots now...lol* I have to make sure the hairdresser does not make it too light as it then washes my eyes out so I do understand that....I like the warm beige blonde with the honey and lighter color highlights. I did go to the make-up counter at Dillards one time for a make-over with make up. I do like eyeliner and mascara and lipstick...but...boy I looked like a "hussy" when she got through........I think she added ten years to me with all that heavy duty make-up and are you ready for this....three shades of eyeshadow. I snuck out of the store before anyone thought I was a streetwalker...lol* What was so funny...was after the make-up...even she said, "hmmm...I think I liked your natural color make-up better that you had on when you came in! I don't wear the dark lipsticks but more the natural colors. Confession time...my biggest and only make-over as a woman was breast augumentation. I had it at 51...and it was the best thing I've ever had done. I researched and researched surgeons and so pleased with the one I found. It was something for me...something that I had always wanted since I was 18....and it is the saline implants and very, very natural. I wasn't trying to "strut or be a Barbie doll" ....just the right size 34C and my hubby loves it even though he was so against it. The surgeon did it under the breast tissue so there is not that fake lift at the top but very natural and best of all...no sags and you don't feel them at all. It is a little more painful in healing......but that was my make-over and I am brave enough to share it! Hugs...Windchimes |

windchimes, I think it is awesome that you had surgery that you had been considering since you were 18! That took so much courage. And the fact that you are really happy with it! Wow! Isn't it great to finally be at a place in our lives where we can put ourselves first once in awhile, take responsibility for our choices, and maybe have some good old fashioned fun and joy !!!!!! If you could do that maybe I can meet my weight loss goal finally! Hurray for all of us! Gena |
