Has anyone tried the mineral based make-up?  I hear the infomercial on it occasionally and it sounds intriguing.  Was wondering if it was worth the cost?

I started using it a couple of years ago and yes, it does everything they say it does.  My 22 dd uses it also and it really is a switch from other standard foundations and make-up types.  The trouble for me is that at my age I feel I need more coverage at time and it's hard to suddenly go back to BE which is so light on your face...but it does work well.  Getting the technique down was tricky for me tho, but you get a DVD with it to instruct.

I bought it and use it alot i like it and  the coverage is adjustable if you want more coverage you just keep applying more till you get the desired affect i would say you have to have pretty clear skin though cause i dont think it would cover big skin discolorations i usually prefer a heavy coverage foundation but this is just as good and feels lighter on the face once you get the knack of how to put it on and blend the different shades it comes out good and looks more natural its worth the bucks a little goes a long way it just takes a little getting used to i dont wear makeup everday though maybe 4 or 5 times a month so it lasts me forever sometimes ill put it on even when im home its so lite feeeling not heavy or greasy  especially good in the summer. If i can be of any further help on makeup feel free to ask

I got some to use for the summer when I can't bear to have a lot on my skin.  I only wear make up about  8- 10 times a month.  I have a lot of scars, capillaries, and sometimes ZITS   (zits from wearing water resistant  sun screen when I work in the yard) and it is hard to get enough coverage from Bare Minerals make up to cover these things.  I have started to paint these boo boos with a tiny lip liner brush using either skin colored zit stick or another concealer.  Next, I pat a yellow colored powder onto the boo boos and wait until they are totally dry.  Then, I use the bare minerals.  If any of my zit/boo boo spots become visible after doing this then I can usually get enough coverage from the Summer Bisque con cealer /multi task powder to re-cover them.
The main problem I have with Bare Minerals is trying to cover under eye and inner eye circles.  If I use enough minerals to cover the dark areas I then have dry, crepey looking skin around the eyes.  If I use another brand of concealer around my eyes and then put minerals on top of it then it doesn't want to blend out the way it's supposed to.  It is especially a problem if I have moisturizer or sunscreen on my skin before applying the minerals.  The whole mess wants to just bunch up.
I've taken to using self-tanner on my face and then applying the Bare Minerals.  I don't wear concealer around my eyes when I do this.  I still have visible darkness around the eyes afterwards but it is not as bad as using just the minerals with no concealer or self-tanner.

Thanks so much for the info. I have been going back and forth, but I think I'll give it a try. I never liked the feel of liquid foundation. I used it though because I felt I needed the coverage. My 17 year old daughter has shown me that less make up is better. I do need a change and don't want to go into my 50's looking like a clown. This will be something my daughter and I can share........thus killing two birds with one stone..........a nice look for makeup and spending sometime  quality time with my 17 year old.

I hope everyone here has had a good day. Kinda' hot out here in California, but It will be cooling off soon. Ya'll take care and thanks again for sharing........Wildflower

gracehatter,

I just received mine in the mail Thursday so I played with it some that night and used it Friday and Saturday (have not even gotten out of my night gown yet today).

I think I am going to like it very well though.  It is easy to apply and I like the looks of it.  I do not feel like my face will melt from the heat or crack from laughing the way that liquid foundations feels on me.

I am a bit frugal when it comes to spending money on stuff like this so I went on eBay and found a decent priced one that was on the Buy It Now area.  It was $26.00  cheaper than if I had gone to Sephora and purchased the same thing.  The kit that I purchased also included a video with instructions on how to apply the make-up.

I just received my kit and love it. It was 60.00 to start then you get new makeup every 60 days. I love mine. It really looks good. I have a girl that I work with that has used it for the last 3 years. I will let you know how is does. It is suppose to make your face healthier in about 2 weeks you are suppose to be able to tell the difference. I order eye makeup too so it cost 98.00 all together they charged my credit card 59.00 this time and 40.00 next month. I wanted to look good for myself. Hope you try it.Cathy

I bought it about 6 months ago. I love the way it looks and feels on me. I only bought the foundation part. It took me a while to get the nack of it. I'm only out of the house 4 times a week, that would be weekends so not using much of it.

Do you have to get it every 60 day or can you order it as needed?

Sonja,

I ordered my Bare Escentuals through ebay and so do not have to order on a monthly basis.  I figured that it would be better to try it first before starting something like having to buy every month.

QVC also carries the product and you only buy what you want.

I am really pleased with it so far.

Yahoooooo!!!!  We're getting an Ulta Store here!  It's supposed to open after Thanksgiving and they will be carrying Bare Escentials Bare Minerals make up.  From what I've heard, though, QVC on t.v. probably carries it at a cheaper price but you are locked into whatever they carry. One good thing, though--you don't have to get into an auto delivery dealy on QVC the way you do on the Bare Escentials infomercial.

I had already deleted the message from QVC, but it seems like they will be having a special on November 19th for Bare Escentuals.  It was a kit with 10 items for around $44.00 if I remember correctly.
