Sorry, I rarely pick up a novel anymore. Magazines are about it for me.
Do you have favorite authors?
Like History, Romance, Mystery?

I just finished "The Host" by Stephanie Meyer... I loved it... quite impressive considering how young she is. Prior to this book she has written some teen vampire type of stories... now I am going to read those as well...

Reading is one of my favorite hobbies a great distraction from life... I like all kinds of different genres... but read mostly mysteries and sci fi... for complete escapism I read anything by Janet Evanovich... her Stephanie Plum series is entertaining and her other stuff extremely silly but great to travel with...

Enjoy !!!

I haven't started any new books lately, no time. I am now finishing some magazines for the past two months that have sat here.  When I wanted a good book to read and wasn't sure what to get, I would go to the library.  I would look at the ones sitting on the aisles which were their top books by ratings.

The only time I do any reading now is before I go to bed.If it's during the day,it's gotta be a WHOPPER of a pageturner. The book I'm on now is "Masterpieces of Terror & The Supernatural".It's a collection of different authors. It's ok.

Right now I'm reading The Red Scarf by Kate Furnivall.  The story line is not what I thought it was going to be, although it's good it's also not a happy book....but I should be done with it soon and am going to pick something lighter.

I just finished " Water for Elephants " by Sara Gruen......loved it.  I'm now starting "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" and "Monday Mourning".  I will read anything but SF is my favorite genre.

Babs,
My son is reading the Host, and has read all of Stephanie Host's other books. Loves them! LOL Not my cup of tea, but they are VERY POPULAR at his high school. I have to buy them at Borders as the Library can't keep them in stock.

I just read two totally fluff novels about escaping to beach side communities, The Beach House by Janet Green and The Way LIfe Should Be by Christina Baker Kline. Then I read one of my daughter's books called, HUGE by Sasha Paley. That book was about a teenaged girl that went to fat camp. LOL

So as you can see I am not into anything serious right now.
Hope everyone is having a great summer. I can't afford a real vacation, so I have to go in my mind! LOL
Gena

I am currently trying to finish a book by Dean Koontz.  Can't stand it! He is just too bizarre.  I've been on the last 2 chapters since February and I won't open another book before I start another.  It's an AR thing!  LOL.  But I love James Patterson and I read the Tony Hillerman collection.  So, when I get tired of reading my cookbooks and get caught up on some things around the house, I will force myself to finish Dean Koontz book so I can start on a new book called Damaged.  A true story about a foster child that had been passed through the system from family to family by the time she was 7 yrs old in England, until at the last chance she was taken in by a single mother and she broke through her barriers to learn about the atrocities she had been succumbed to.  That's the back of the book.  I haven't read it yet.  But I like those types of books as I am a volunteer Forensic Interviewer for CAC.  It is a way that I could take my own negative childhood and turn it into a positive for God's glory.
