I am just finishing "Nighttime Is My Time" by Mary Higgins Clark. I have to say that I love her stories. They are hard to put down!

I just went to Barnes and Noble this last Friday and renewed my Member's card. I have to say that this is the best $25.00 I have ever spent. My husband and I buy alot of books and what not and it has made a difference. We save 10% above what the books are already discounted. It pays us back in no time at all. Just a hint!

Right now I have two books that I'm reading.  At home I'm reading "Living History" by Hilary Clinton and at work I'm reading "The Sweet Potato Queens' Big-Ass Cookbook" by Jill Conner Browne.  I just received these from my cousin and it is the first in a series.  She has guaranteed they are funny and it isn't a cookbook at all.  It's about every woman deciding to be a queen and living her life as such.  Should be fun!

I recently finished the first 9 books in the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. Stephanie is a bounty hunter who is somewhat inept but always manages to get her man... so to speak... the series is filled with fun and intriguing quirky characters. If you like the Kinsey Milhone stories by Sue Grafton you will love Stephanie Plum. I am not sure which one started first but both of them recommend each other's books.

Currently I am reading Full House which is the first in another series of Ms. Evanovich. So far it is just as much fun as the other but more of a modern day Cinderella story and once again very quirky characters.

I am reading a biography about Margaret Mitchell called The Road to Tara. It's interesting. Also, how to Publish, Promote, and Sell Your Own Book as well as 'Are You Somebody?' by Nuala O' Faolain. Just finished 'A Walk In The Woods' by Bill Bryson which was really good. THe library called and told me Bill Clintons book is in and ready for me. Should be interesting!

Joyce...I know the series you're talking about and I have to say I couldn't even make it through the first book.  It bothered me so much what he went through as a child that I was always in tears!  I will never understand how someone can treat their child that way!

I am reading the last book( I think) of the "Left Behind" series.  This book is called "The Glorious Appearing".  I do love this series so much and I kinda hate to see it come to an end.      Nyda

I'm reading two books at the moment -
One called 'Captured by Aliens'  by Joel Achenbach - it's a guys trip into the world of UFOdem (if there's such a word) and it's quite interesting - seems to be covering a lot about carl Sagan at the moment

and the other book is 'The Arcadian Cipher' by Peter Blake and Paul Blezard - It's to do with the Rennes- le- Chateau tomb and the paintings associated  with the whole mystery. This book is supposed to give the answer behind the mystery and I am so looking forward to finishing it - so far I'm only up to chapter two and still covering background information.

I'm currently reading Kay Hooper's 'Hunting Fear'. The next book is Tami Hoag's 'Kill the Messenger'. Got a call from the library and Michael Palmer's latest is in for me.  I love  thrillers, especially medical thrillers. I also like science/fantasy..Robert Lynn Asprin's "Myth" series is excellent, but it takes him several years to write each book in the series. Makes me crazy!

I enjoy medical suspense novels too, especially those by Robin Cook and Michael Palmer. I'm currently reading Michael Palmer's "The Sisterhood", to be followed by "Side Effects" and "Flashback"--three complete novels in one book.

I just finished Whisker of Evil by Rita Mae Brown and Chesapeake Blue by Nora Roberts.  I've read quite a few in the series by Rita Mae Brown.  They are very cutesy, cozy.  This one was probably my least favorite.  Chesapeake Blue was good, though I speed read through the racey scenes (I think there were only 2.).  Nora Roberts does scenery so very well, and I enjoyed the humor she injected.

Now I'm in limbo trying to decide what to read next.  I may try a book by Harlan Coben.  I hear he's good.  I also want to read Carl Hiaasen one of these days.

I am reading "Nights in Rodanthe" by Nicholas Sparks.  I really enjoyed the movie "The Notebook" and read the book afterwards and then "Guardian" and "Nights in Rodanthe" is my 3rd book by him.  I am a hopeless romantic and am really enjoying these books.  Can't believe a male is writing these wonderful love stories.  Laureen

I received "The Purpose Driven Life" for Christmas. I haven't read it yet.
I also have  a Continuing Education book on "End of Life Care" to read. 30 hours of work related study are mandatory every 2 years to keep an RN license.
I am a world class procrastinaor when it comes to reading as I would rather play on line.

"liver" just finished reading Freakonomics that I purchased him for Christmas and I will start reading it tomorrow.

From the jacket cover:
Freakonomics establishes this unconventional premise:  if morality represents how we would like the world to work, then economics represents how it actually does work.  It is true that readers of this book will be armed with enough riddles and stories to last a thousand cocktail parties.  But Freakonomics can provide more than that.  It will literally redefine the way we view the modern world.
Will let ya-ll know how it goes,

Angle  I am reading A Million Little Pieces and gave 4 away for x-mas gifts. My son is 23 and he just finished it and he said all children from the age of 13 to adults 50 should read this book. Even tho some think it was a little over-dramatized that can never equal with what these people go through when they are addited to a substance. My ex was a alcoholic and it just helped kill him. Sometimes i have to put the book down and wait to pick it up, hurts to much. I believe all parents need to read and have thier teen-agers read this book. If it helps one person to get help or quit on thier own the book was worth reading. Who as a substance abuser could remember exactually how things happened? This book is as close to real as it gets.

Anne Perry's Victorian mustery series with William Monk & her Thomas Pitt books set in the same time frame. Grisham. Cornwall, Diehl, Patterson all are favorites of mine.

I belong to a ladies' book club.  We just finished reading The Road (hated it) and next month's book is Left to Tell by Immaculee Ilibagiza.  We sound like a serious group, huh?  Not really--we even read Harry Potter sometimes.  I hear it is a great book, not too depressing, more focused on forgiveness.

By the way, we also read the Da Vinci Code.  It was a good read but all agreed he was pretty loose with some facts.  It was a lot easier to read for us who grew up in the Catholic tradition.

I hate to admit this, but I think the "Da Vinci Code"was more interesting as a movie.
And yes,I think it was like an old car during winter. It needed time after cranking for the engine to warm up,lol!
But it sure did raise some fascinating questions.I wonder how my Gf would react to it(a Deacon in southern-baptist church & preacher b4 that).

You have all mentioned so many of my favorites and a whole bunch I never heard of.  I'm overwhelmed with books I want to read right now, but I'll probably be checking back to this thread for ideas for future reads.  Janet Evanovich is one of my favorites.  I've read several by Kathleen Woodiwiss, but it's been several years since I picked up one of hers.  I think my tastes changed and I just wasn't as interested in her type as I used to be.  Maybe I'll pick up another some day.

I am currently reading three books (no wonder I never seem to finish a book).  God Wants a Powerful People by Sheri Dew, Seduction in Death by J D Robb (Nora Roberts), and Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll (just finished Alice's Adventures in Wonderland last week).  I also finished reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn last week.  It's very unusual for me to be reading more than one book at a time.  I gotta get back to reading one book clear through and then moving on.  I think I'll make better progress that way.

I belong to 3 book clubs, sort of.  One is a group of ladies from church, one is an online club (Readers Anonymous), and we're trying to get a family book group going.  So far only my sister and I are participating.    So, what was the question?  Oh, yes, "What books are you reading now?"  I think I answered that.
