 Your favorite Christmas Memory
What is your favorite Christmas Memory. From child hood or as an adult?

Mine is when I was 8 years old. My dad went out Christmas eve and put sleigh and reindeer tracks outside our bedroom window. He new we always looked out Christmas morning to see if it had snowed and there they were. He even had them on the roof. We were so happy to see those tracks and bragged to all our friends about them. It wasn't until he passed away that mom told me how he did it. I still beleive he had Santa's help.

What's your memory? Tell us please.

I have many memories but the one that means more is about my Dad and the gift he gave me. I was divorced that year and trying to finish college and work. My poor VW blew a engine and I couldn't afford even a rebuilt engine. My Dad paid for it and I made payments to him every month. At Christmas he made a big deal of me coming over alone. He had bought me a Christmas gift, something he never does, always Mom does the shopping. I was excited that my Dad thought to do it. I get there and go in his living room where he hands me a box. It looked like a jewelry box and light weight. I opened it and began to cry. It contained a list of the VW charges for my engine, showing all payments made and stamped PAID IN FULL. I had still owed $112 and that was his gift. he knew I was struggling back then and wanted to give it to me as a gift. I love him so much and miss him dearly. His nickname was Frosty. That has always been my favorite gift. Angelbear

December 27th was my grandfather's birthday.  My grandparents waited until that day to celebrate Christmas.  My aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers, and  my parents would be there.

My grandfather had been a smoker for many years and when he managed to stop smoking, he used chocolate covered cherries as something to stop the smoking urge.  You could be guaranteed to see 5-6 boxes of chocolate covered cherries as gifts.

To this day, when I see a box of those confections it brings back vivid memories of my grandfather.

When I was in grade school, my dad would bring out his saxophone and play Christmas carols for my brother and I...........and starting in  my teen years, my step dad's dad would always give everyone  a box of chocolate covered cherries.

My best memory so far as an adult was last Christmas........Pop (stepdad) and his new wife came out to spend Christmas with us since it was the first one since my Mom had died.  He drove 2 days to get here to just spend one day with us and then drive again for 2 days to get back home. I'll always cherish that.

I forget how old I was exactly, but it was the year my mom realized I was a "big girl" and allowed me join her in the secret of Santa and to stay up late wrapping gifts far into the night, so the "little kids" could have Christmas magic.   It was a time we shared every year after.

My favourite memories seem to be as an adult.  Dd was about 3 or so and we went out looking at the Christmas lights.  Dd fell asleep part way through but dh and I still went around for awhile.  Around March of the following year my daughter said to me "Remember when we drove around and looked around at the Christmas lights and had hot chocolate?  Wasn't that so much fun?"  It really reminded me of how much what you do that doesn't cost anything means to a child.  Another big one was the year we knew my Mom had a limited amount of time.  We had eveyone over to our house that year and we drove around with my Mom and Dad to see the lights.  It was the last time.  My Mom passed away that January and 5 months later my grandfather and another month later my Uncle.  I was so glad we all got together and made it as special as we could that year.  Laureen

My favorite Christmas memory as a child was when I was 6 y.o.  I was very ill that Christmas and couldn't get out of bed to even go into the livingroom where the tree was.  My parents brought all of my gifts to my bed.  Then my dad said, "I think Santa left you one more gift" and he went outside.  A few minutes later I heard "clip-clop" sounds coming down the hallway.  "Santa" had brought me a snow white shetland pony mare.  I thought my mom was going to have a cow! Of course I named her "Snowflake".

Oh boy it is a little hard to pick, I think the year my Mom, brother and I spent Christamas in Wisconsin and there was an awesome snow . We got one present , a Twister game , but the fun in the snow was the best and my Mom found my oldest sister and they reaqainted themselves.
