Hi - I am new to the Divas and I thought that I would tell you all that I am a faux painter.  I actually get paid for doing this.  Anyway, if anyone would like tips or advice on wall painting techniques, please feel free to ask.

Jeanne

I don't see the posted picture.
I have a wall that is painted so light a green it looks the color of Drywall (sheet rock).
I have heard of the sponge technique.
Any suggestions?Do you just dip the sponge in and press it?  I would want a subdued look.

Sorry, kbue54. You are a day late and a dollar short........unless someone else in the group can take up where  Beanface6 left off.

I would love to use a sponge or crunched up paper bag to make a patterned wall  cover. I haven't been brave  (energetic) enough to try it, yet. I still have that pale green wall.

Kbue- The gal who started this thread is no longer a member. Perhaps there is some information on the board on how to do it. I know HomeDepot has phamlets on how to do this a little bit. Its in the paint department. What kind of jewerly do you make?

absolutelystumped I'm new to this site and came across your question about sponge painting. You should practice first on a piece of cardboard using the same colors... Paint the wall a different color than the glaze you're using. The top color should be deluted with a glaze (sold at home depot) so you don't get a heavy look. I'm asuming you are using a water base paint. Hope this helped but then again your post is not a new one.

lol jackie. I can relate to that painting you're doing. When I had a winter I did the same thing. Isn't it funny how changing your surroundings can keep those doldrums away. Love to change my enviroment. I do it now with big artwork cause deez bones ain't what they usta be..(notice my NuYawk accent coming out) and I don't get up on ladders anymore. lolol

Sheila,  thank you for the information.  I am getting enthused again. I still have the putty color wall but it is now covered with family pictures.
Do you know whether the faux painting would work on walls other than dry wall?
I have two white bathrooms that could use sprucing up. The walls are smoothe  wood panel.

Make sure you prime the wall first with a water base primer. That's the most important step.  Home Depot has a big choice and the employees in the paint dept are very knowledgable on their products. If you want to you could texture the wall. I did a wall with tinted stuff like joint compound. I put it on with a trowel then when dry I painted it in a contrasting glaze which made the raised area of compound stand out even more.

I will have to look into glaze. It is a new term to me.
I happen to have a hundred dollar Home Depot gift card and was wondering what to use it for.
It won't be soon because it has beem pouring rain and cold here.
