Well, I broke down and ordered some buffalo grass seed this evening. Next I need to order about 13 tons of top soil to be delivered. Come Hell(o) and high water I am going to get a good back yard started this year. Am tired of fighting tumbleweeds and this should make a bit of a fire break because of the greenness. Have done lots of researching on buffalo grass and it seems to be what I need - low maintenance, drought resistant, and low water usage. Being out here in high desert that is what I need. This grass only grows 8-10 inches tall so it only requires 1 or 2 mowings a season. adair |

This sounds nice. It will help keep some of that desert dirt down as well. |

my office sells top soil...make sure u get the right kind for your yrd...most top has sand in it...sounds like u don't need sand...u can buy clean fill, that has been screeened as a base, it has clay, that mixes w/ the sand for better drainage...then order about 7 yrds of top...(here in ny we sell top by the yrd, a yrd. of top weighs a ton..10x10..3 inches deep.... hope this helps.. |

My soil is clay and I would a thousand times rather work with sandy soil. When I moved here I spent the better part of the day amending the soil and choosing plants that would survive. Ugh! If you can post a photo, it would be interesting to see the before and after. |
